Great vegan-friendly Japanese cuisine

Waki Waki is a sweet spot for vegan-friendly Japanese vegetarian cuisine.

The extensive menu includes many traditional Japanese staples as well as some creative variations, so fans of either (or both) should be able to find plenty to eat here.

Everything on the menu can be made vegan on request, and the vegan versions are so good that my only question is why they feel like they need any non-vegan options at all.

Service is warm, kind, and helpful. The place is tiny, with seating for just a few people, so coming during off hours might give you better chances of getting a table.

Enjoy!

Pricey but worth it

The hijack maki was definitely better than the signature waki waki but would definitely go back to try other rolls! The complimentary miso soup was a nice touch

Amazing

Very small space with only two proper tables and a bar like seating option for another two next to each other
Best to reserve or eat dinner at 5 ;)
Tried a lot
Starter mushrooms comes with 3 sauces - wasabi mayo, teriyaki, spicy mayo. Good
Favorite was the tofu roll but forgot the name of it tbh

Tuna fighter okay- good
Black hole good

Overall not as good as my fav back home in Germany, but still very good and outstanding service! Honestly so kind and friendly
Oh and try the kombucha

Delicious and beautiful sushi

We wanted to go to this place for a while already, and yesterday we finally did. I'll advise anyone who wants to go here to make a reservation beforehand, since the place is quite small and can only seat a small number of people. But if you get to eat here, be prepared to be amazed by the delicious and beautiful food.
Everything can be made vegan in this place, but not everything on the menu is vegan.
Really worth a visit when you are in Bangkok.

Pros: Delicious food, Beautiful food, Friendly staff

Mind-Blowing Vegan Sushi

Simply incredible vegan sushi. They ask you if you are vegan and the entire menu can be made veganized. The sushi was art. Excellent service. Very fairly priced. This pretty much is a “must go” place. Astonishing. High recommend getting reservations since the place has three tables.

Taste good

Came here with my brother and we love the sushi here. The Japan curry rice is also very nice! So full and we couldn’t finish all, have to take away.

Portions were good, staff kind, food delicious. Wouldn't repeat the sushi with dark coloured rice.

Pros: Sushi, Staff, Price

Awesome vegan sushi

So many options for sushi and they can make everything vegan!
They also ask are you vegetarian or vegan to make sure when your ordering it was very cool!
My sushi was really good the basic maki rolls are pretty cheap like 60 baht while the fancier rolls are a bit more but you get a huge portion I almost couldnt finish it all but to be fair I did just come after eating at a vegan spot in china town alot of food
There is a limited amount of seating inside and it does feel small but that being said it was good enough to sit and eat the meal

Amazing vegan sushi

Would definitely go back.
Highly recommend! There is refills on the green tea which is so nice. Huge variety in the different sushi fillings and pretty big portions.

Okay Sushi!

The menu has a great amount of option - the food is just very experimental and overwhelming. We ordered 2 different plates of sushi and they both had lots of flavours and elements that took away from the enjoyment of the food. For example, the mayo is too heavy and filling and the sushi pieces are so big they’re impossible to pick up with the chopsticks provided. We probably should have ordered one of these dishes with something a more simple dish so do keep that in mind! The staff are kind the the little restaurant itself is wonderful. 🥰

Must try

Beautifully presented sushi made vegan with ease. Very flavourful food served in an intimate setting / hole in the wall traditional Japanese style. Friendly and attentive staff who speak English and understand vegan concept well. Highly recommend!

Tasty but still hungry

I ordered the tofu avocado sushi. While tasty the prices didn't match the portions (aware its sushi). I wish I ordered the plant based curries instead.

The flavours were great if you're looking to satisfy your sushi cravings in Bangkok

The complimentary miso soup was nice.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had!

Title says it all— this meal was so delicious and they made my birthday feel so special. My bf made a reservation for my birthday (recommended bc the space is very small) and the staff went out of their way to make it special for me.

We had the wakame, edamame, gyoza, umami dreams maki, and jurassic maki. It was all 10/10. One of the best meals I’ve ever had.

Also had take away on another night which was also 10/10. Avocado rolls and wakame rolls. Yum!

Flavorful Japanese Restaurant in Bangkok

A very nice vegetarian Japanese restaurant in Bangkok. I enjoyed all the dishes that I have ordered here, very difficult to choose my favorite dish as all of them are very delicious! The only bad thing about this place is that it is too small, but the food and their friendly staff have made up for it.

I would recommend that you make reservation before visiting this place, as you might have to wait if there is a crowd, and there is limited seats available in this restaurant.

Top sushi

I’ve always struggled to appreciate sushi. Having mainly tried it in the UK and the US, where flavors often lean towards the bland side, it just never clicked for me—until now.

Waki Waki may come at a price, but it’s absolutely worth it. Unsure of where to start, I asked for help, and the staff’s recommendations didn’t disappoint. One standout was the fried garlic, which I’d seen mentioned in a previous post—wow, it was incredible! (Good thing I was dining solo, though!)

If you’re a sushi lover or even someone still figuring it out like me, I can’t recommend Waki Waki enough.

Tasty but expensive

Great presentation, food prepared quickly, good selection of vegetarian versions of a variety of Japanese dishes. Non vegan options aren’t very clearly marked, although they list the ingredients so you can see which dishes have egg or cheese in them. It’s very expensive for Thailand.

Pros: Tasty, Quick, Looks good

Cons: Expensive, Vegan options not clearly marked, Limited seating in restaurant

Soooo good!

Very expensive but we found it to be worth it, as everything we had was sooo flavourful and tasty. Probably the best vegan sushi we’ve had! Also the gyoza and curry were delicious. There’s only eight seats, two of them outside, so reserve if you want to guarantee a table!

Pros: All food was so flavourful and tasty, Lots of options to choose from!, Complimentary miso soup

Cons: A little chilly inside haha , Price excludes 17% tax and service charge, Not fully vegan

Definitely one of the best spots in Bangkok

Too bad they're not fully vegan! Amazing fishy sushi rolls, super delicious and flavourful mushroom dishes, and the option to order a plate of fried garlic make this one of my top stops in Bangkok. Don't miss it

Cons: Not 100% vegan

Delicious sushi

The food is incredible and so is the service. Keep in mind that this is a vegetarian place and not vegan. The waiter also didn’t seem 100% sure about the difference between vegan and vegetarian. But his colleague was very aware!

Pros: The food, Freshly made, Lot’s of options

Cons: Vegetarian restaurant instead of vegan
