Delicious - Edit
We had a vegan soup crowded with veggies and accompaning rice and kerupuk, very delicious!
Read moreAt first it was very noisy, but they have a separate dining room with AC.
And they have oatmilk cappuccino!
Staff is friendly and fast (Sunday lunch)
Pros: Atmosphere, Separate smoking area, The fish swimming in flower jar in ladies restroom

Good “post-tour” options - Edit
We tried 2 of the vegan choices: Nasi Campur (tempeh, eggplant, banana blossom) and the Oseng Tempe Tahu Kacang Panjang (tempe, tofu, long beans). The first option was not as good as the 2nd but still worth the visit. It was the easiest option after taking a tour with ViaVia (which is 100% worth it).

Variety of foods including vegan / veg - Edit
I really like the Indonesian food selection, many of which are vegan or vegetarian. You can get really nice, healthy food; definitely more expensive than most food nearby, but I was happy to pay extra to be sure I wasn't going to have non-veg seasonings slip through.

Uninteresting - Edit
It’s definitely a tourist restaurant, so expect flavorless food for a high price. I do think this place is expensive for the city. It’s tasteless, my friends said the same things about their meal - vegan and non-vegan. I think you have wayyy better options in the surroundingS. I got the Viavia salad and I was disappointed about how little tempeh there was in it. The Kambucha tasted like sugar in water.

Loved it - Edit
Nice place and also a good contribution to responsible hospitality: eg mineral water from a jug, no single use straws etc. Their travel agent is also worth to check out. They compensate booked car/motorbike transport with trees. As a female travelling alone it was great to get a female bike driver and tour guide, fluent in English and great company. Had the green papaya salad and es nanka.

Could be better if staff was friendly and more attentive - Edit
We had breakfast at ViaVia and staff was really awful. At first, they weren’t sure whether they were already open (according to their opening times they should have been), then it took them ages to bring the menu/the food/sugar for the coffee and forgot dishes we had ordered. They never smiled and gave as the impression to disturb them.
Read moreAnd they were wrong about what is vegan and what is not. When I asked what is vegan they told me options that were clearly not vegan. They had a sourdough bread with veggies on the menu and I asked whether I could get this in a vegan version and was told that there’s egg in the dough of the bread… When we went to their bakery after our visit, the bread was among the items they offered me as being vegan.
The food itself was OK, not bad, not great. I can recommend their bakery next door where they have Bagels and some other vegan baked goods.
For me, this was a very disappointing visit – originally we had intended to have a look at the tours and classes ViaVia offers. But with such a bad attitude towards their customers I can’t imagine that these are worth it.

The best salad ❤️ - Edit
The ViaVia salad is amazing! They also have different Indonesian dishes of the day and a mix of western food also. Serves meat but lots of vegan options and the staff are helpful.

Good options - Edit
Nice variety of western and Indonesian meals. Little on the pricier side for the food, but Bintang L is cheaper than the bars. Cute little shop connected to it, and they offer a cooking class that can sub the meat items for tofu or tempeh.

Nice dinner - Edit
The place is nice and the staff was very friendly. We had a good time and a good dinner there but it might be worth double checking before ordering to make sure that everyone is aligned on what vegetarian/vegan means. No problem at all on our end! A bit expensive.

Western food craving satisfied - Edit
Got some great western style food here
Read moreWe spoke to the waitress told her we were vegan and to be overly cautious we also confirmed what vegan meant and what we couldn’t eat
She went through the menu of what we could have and also confirmed it with kitchen
She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful when it came to adapting dishes to suit our needs
If you’re craving some western food I would recommend but definitely chat to some one who works there that has good English so you can assure you’re eating vegan food :)

Good Food - Edit
Despite the multitude of negative reviews here, I had a really nice experience here. I went twice when in Yogyakarta and had the daily vegetarians special both times. The staff knew what vegan meant, even coming back to me to say that the Thai green curry wasn’t vegan.

Seafood in vegetarian dish - Edit
We ordered 'Tofe/Tempeh satay' after getting confirmed it's vegetarian. It tasted like seafood, so I asked again. Same answer. We asked to get a confirmation from the kitchen. Finally found out they use oyster sauce and dried shrimp but consider that being vegetarian.

Burger and falafel not vegan - Edit
This place was a bit of a miss. It looks fine and they have a very nice area for kids to play. First one of the waiters told us the vegetarian burger was vegan. But later when we actually wanted to order we had a different waitress who told us that they use egg for the buns. They use the same bread to make falafel. Also all their their pasta has egg in it. So both the veg burger, falafel and pasta are not vegan. She wasn’t sure if the krupuk was vegan since they buy it and it doesn’t list ingredients. Since the veg burger and pasta was not vegan they don’t have anything vegan for kids and they can also not make anything with a portion for a kid.

Good international cuisine - Edit
Tried the falafel and veggie burger. They were both a welcomed change from the Indonesian food we have been eating in Jogja. Ordered take-away using the Grab App, likely would have tasted better dining in. The fries were super oily but other than that, the food was good!

Fantastic Food - Edit
The food at ViaVia is fantastic, we mostly ate the 'Vegetarian Indonesian Special' which changes each day, despite listing it is veggie, they are mostly vegan. Potentially the dishes which aren't can be made so upon request. Brown rice is an option with every meal!

Great mix of local and western faves - Edit
I loved the community aspect of ViaVia and the space in general. We shared a dish of the day and the cashew goat cheese salad as well as two juices after walking the chaotic streets of Jogja all day. While we love street food, sometimes you want to bypass deep fried fare and this place delivered.

Great healthy and very tasty food - Edit
Sometimes you crave some healthy foods, especially since everything is pretty much fried in indonesia. I came here 3 times with my non-veg friends and everyone was left really satisfied ! The staff speaks amazing English. I had the veggie burger (amazing bread, okay patty), a green juice, and the viavia salad. Everything was really fresh, tasty, colorful. They also have sourdough and GF bread available.
Read moreThey don't use plastic so your take-away food comes in a little bamboo basket. The store next door is really nice and you can find some great gifts and upcycled, fair thingies.
I loved this place and would definitely come back !
