Super Underwhelming - Edit
Where to begin? I really don’t like giving 100% vegan restaurants less than 4 stars, but Verdine seriously was a great disappointment.
Read moreFirst of all, my husband and I walked all around the building before we could find the entry way. There should be signs from the parking lot, especially since the restaurant is behind a bistro and the door is behind a tree. Their back patio is not labeled either.
I ordered the Croissant Sandwich and my husband ordered the Wings n’ Waffles. Let’s start with the $18 sandwich. The croissant was hard. There was nothing special about the components. I could have bought Beyond Sausage, Just Egg, and Chao cheese myself and made the same exact thing on a better croissant for less than $3. It came with a block of hard hash browns in the shape of a cube. It looked like something you’d eat in Minecraft. Tasted like it too - flavorless and texture like dried leaves. Surprisingly, I think this was the better dish of the two. I’m giving it a 2/5 and my husband is giving it a 1.5/5
The Wings n’ Waffles was $20… the waffles were too hard for waffles. Not fluffy at all. And once I bit into it, it crumbled - it was like a crispy cookie and a dry cake were just carelessly baked together. The chickun was hard and burnt on the outside and too soft on the inside. Everything fell apart when I stuck a fork in it. It was literally just tempeh. Nothing special was made to it - it was cut in thick strips and fried in burnt breading. The maple syrup and chickun sauce were mixed together too. It was a neat combo, but I don’t think they should come pre-mixed. My husband gives the chickun a 2.5/5 and the waffles a 1/5. I give the whole dish a 1/5.
The pitaya lemonade was $5 for a glass pint. I give it a 3/5 because it hardly tasted like pitaya. My husband gives it a 2/5.
Everything was too expensive for what they’re actually worth. The food wasn’t even close to being good. I think we paid more for the live plants and flower decorations and the fancy napkins more than anything else. If it weren’t for this, I would have given Verdine 1/5 stars if it were an option.
The service was average. BUT as we were walking out, a family was RUDELY turned away 15 min before closing. I’ve worked at restaurants before and I’m pretty sure you accept customers right until you close. I almost wanted to tell the family that they weren’t missing anything anyways.

Pros: Cute atmosphere (love the live plants)
Cons: Expensive - definitely not even worth it., Hard, burnt food., Entrance difficult to find.

Hi Pandani- We're sorry to hear your experience was disappointing! We know sometimes people struggle to find our entrance that's why we do have a sandwich board near the parking lot denoting which way to our front door is, a neon sign that faces the parking lot, as well as have a small sign on our patio gate. Also since you've visited last, we've added another sandwich board right by the front door in an attempt to make it easier on people visiting for the first time! We appreciate your feedback on the menu items you tried. I understand you wrote you review a few days ago, but based on the food you ordered (the Wings 'n Waffles) I can tell this was awhile ago as we stopped serving that dish in the Fall of 2021. I do invite you back in to give us another try since it's been some time you've tried our food. Appreciate the feedback and will be sharing your review with our chef. Thank you.

Everything is awesome - Edit
3 years since I first reviewed and they are still awesome doing so much creative food. Having a special Asian menu there this time and it was over the top fantastic. Chef Stephanie seems to have a love affair with cauliflower and I am so glad she does.
Read moreWe live really close so have been here probably 10 Times since they opened the brick and mortar. Hours have now expanded into evenings. And they do still have a truck as well contrary to the description. The krabby patty, the orange cauliflower, and the waterworks cheeseburger are my favorites. Followed closely by the kung fu bowl. Everything is fresh including the ketchup for your fries. Service is excellent. Creative vegan food.

Classy and fun - Edit
Verdine is a great place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They have a great selection of sandwiches, salads, pizzas, and entrees. I’m not much of a wine drinker, but they do offer a good variety and do pairings. They also have events with special menus and holiday menus. Get there early on the weekends as a line forms for breakfast/brunch.

Cold food - Edit
I bought a pepperoni and a sausage kolache. They were pricey so I expected good flavor and good service. They were cold and barely filled. I didn't complain about the almost empty kolaches. Only their temperature. Instead of making me new ones, they popped them in the microwave a couple of seconds and brought me the same ones which were barely warmer than they were before.
Read moreUnbelievable! This place used to be nice.
Cons: Expensive, Don't appreciate customers, Cold food, skimpy portions
verdine449
Hi Robert - Thanks for your feedback on our kolaches. We don't intend to have them served piping hot, more at room temperature, but it's good to understand that may not be everyone's expectation. We also do not use microwaves in our restaurant, so would not have microwaved your food and returned it to you - Just wanted to clear that up! Appreciate the feedback as we can use this to improve. Thank you

Dreamy vegan brunch! - Edit
Me and the girls went here for my birthday brunch and it was perfect. Just Eggs cooked to perfection, insane hashbrowns, and the most photogenic French toast. The interior is cute, too. Cons: difficult parking and high price points. Typical for big cities though!

Good food - Edit
Ordered the banana blossom tacos and sweet potato fries. The banana blossom in the tacos was really, really chewy and rough, and I had to eat the tacos with a fork and knife just to cut through the banana blossom. Other than that, food was good and interior decor of the establishment was beautiful.

I’m glad I discovered this place on my short visit to Houston. Went once, food was so tasty I went back again the next day.

The mushroom burger is one of the top best vegan burgers I’ve had, and I’ve had vegan burgers from many many places around the globe! Pre covid times that is..
Their “chicken” tempeh sandwich was surprisingly good, since tempeh sometimes has a very tricky texture/flavor to deal with.
Overall great food, nice decor, friendly service.

Unwelcoming Service - Edit
We were turned away at 8:30pm (by who seemed like a manager) because they “close at 9:00”. When asked if we could order to-go we were told yes but to hurry.
Read moreWe asked if we could sit down and eat our $50 worth of food (for two people) because the restaurant still had four tables sitting, laughing, drinking and talking.
We were told we could sit outside on the (dark and cold) patio. The servers were polite and apologetic for their manager’s behavior. I messaged them privately on IG- and received no response.
We ate outside and left at 9:10pm while there were still two tables of people eating and laughing inside.
The food was good, but the service was terrible. As someone who spends lots of money eating out vegan in the Houston area, I’ll take my money elsewhere.
Pros: Atmosphere, Lots of Options
Cons: Unwelcoming Manager, High price for poor service

Inconsistent - Edit
Overall it was an okay experience. I had the bistro burger with fries. The burger and fries were super yummy. I would definitely get it again. However I did order the caramel cookie sauced sandwich and it was not as described. I was given a chocolate cookie with buttercream inside instead of a butter cookie with chocolate ganache and strawberries. I don’t know if it was a mistake but that was very disappointing.
