Nice and cozy atmosphere, worldwide food - Edit
Address on the app is incorrect! As seen in the pics of this page - take exit E of Yonghegong Lama Temple, continue few meters in the alley and turn left to the bars and restaurants street. The area is beautiful especially at evening!
Read moreAtmosphere was great, they have comfortable couches and the design is cozy and nice. Staff is very nice and kind, some speak English and will help you pick the best food for you.
Many worldwide dishes there including soups, humus & falafel, salads, spreads, couscous, pasta, Indian food, burgers & sandwiches, French fries, rice, cakes, smoothies, tea and other drinks.
Cauliflower soup is not vegan!
Food was really good:
Lentils soup - just like at home, with cumin and perfect flavors. Comes with nuts in case you are allergic.
Curry vegetables - a very big dish with strong curry taste and some brown rice. Great choice (slightly spicy).
Moroccan couscous - pretty good, very hot and home like for middle easterners.
Chocolate cake - not bad, kids will love it and it "doesn't feel vegan" (said by not vegan friends).
Belgian choco - good strong chocolate flavored, hot and a great way to warm up in the cold weather.
Overall the experience was great, I hope to come back there sometime while I'm in the city. A little pricey even for a vegan place, yet afordable considering the overall low Chinese food prices. The perfect choice if you miss some food from other cultures.
Pros: Worldwide delicious food, Cozy, comfortable and in a beautiful area, Staff is nice
Cons: A little pricey

Vegan hot cocoa & more - Edit
My boyfriend and I ordered vegan burgers, chili, hot cocoa, and hot chocolate. The food was great on the whole — the chili and mushroom burger were the best from what we ordered. Be careful when locating the restaurant: the location listed on Happy Cow is a 7 min walk from the actual location.

that is a tasty burger - Edit
We found this place on our first day and we had their mushroom burger. While it's on the pricey side compared to other places it's a damn good burger. And their slaw is really creamy and delicious. Yum!

Let the music play - Edit
Very easy to find after we exited the Metro (sorry can't remember the exit) we turned right down a dark alley which lead to a narrow street of cafes, shops and bars, just to our left we clearly saw the Veggie Table sign. It's quite a big place with a nice easy feel, I think it may be a family owned business. I had the peanut butter soy milk shake which was amazing as was the coffee one. The sweet potato fries were a nice portion size and my burger was fresh and tasty also had a small portion of potato wedges. We went back the next night too, they played some great music from Bob Dylan & Leonard Cohen so I was a happy man.

Nice food, quite cheap - Edit
The food here is nice and pretty cheap. I just felt that a lot of menu options were variations on the same theme, like falafel served 3 different ways. It was tricky to find using the map. The chocolate cake was pretty good!

Nice food at a convenient location - Edit
Ordered two of the burgers and the pasta, all nice but not outstanding. The burgers came with a tiny portion of 3 thick-cut fries but the large size of the burger itself made up for that. The falafel looked great but another customer had snatched up the last order of those.

My Go To vegan restaurant.....however - Edit
This is my favorite vegan restaurant in Beijing simply because of its variety. However, when ordering you should try and be strategic so you don't order foods that have the same flavor profile. For example, all of the sandwiches kinda taste the same because they use the same toppings and grainy bread. I suggest either the Mushroom Burger or Hummus sandwich. Skip the pizza entirely, its has an overwhelming tomato PASTE flavor and doesn't do a good job at mimicking pizza. I also recommend the Chili, its my favorite dish here (too small of a portion though) If you do eat here, order at least 3-4 things because there are so many options on the menu, no matter what you order you won't be disappointed. (unless you order the pizza)
Read moreFinal note, for the fastest service either go as soon as they open OR after lunch. During peak hours, there service is really slow
Pros: Variety, Environment, Not oily
Cons: Some food items taste the same, No vegan cheese, Slow service during peak hours

A lovely find. - Edit
We stumbled upon this place after an unsuccessful trip to a Vegan restaurant down the road where prices were sky high.
Read moreThe location is great if you happen to be visiting the Lama Temple which is a 10 minute walk away (if that). The food was good, and for Beijing it wasn't awfully expensive. I took my non vegan friends there, and everyone was really impressed with the food. I'd been in China for two months by that point so it was nice to get some more familiar food. Generally, it was a good atmosphere, and the food was tasty, no complaints here.
Pros: All Vegan , Easy to find, Nice place to chat and have an enjoyable meal
Cons: Very few Gluten Free options.

Great Spot for Western Food!!! - Edit
My parents and I were visiting Beijing on a tour of China and were looking for a place to get dinner (we are all vegan.) I had honestly been disappointed by most of the vegan options we tried in Beijing, so my expectations were pretty low. We decided to get Western food for our last night in the city due to previously disappointing Chinese meals. My mom got the mushroom burger, my dad the chili pasta, and I got the Southwest bean burger. We shared the hummus appetizer and the sweet potato fries.
Read moreMy parents are SOS free in the US, so my mom was disappointed in the amount of olive oil in/on the hummus, but I loved it! The pita is more a cloud bread than actual pita, but it's passable. The sweet potato fries were really great and came with vegan mayo and homemade ketchup. Living in Chengdu, I don't often get Western fare if this caliber!
The burgers were really soft, sort of like pâté made into a burger shape, but they had decent flavor and came with nice potato wedges and a strange very soft coleslaw. The chili pasta was nothing too special. The pasta was a little over cooked and it was something you could quite easily make at home, but it was good for our purposes!
There were MANY expats here when we went. Perhaps Western China has jaded me, but it was sort of cool to be around so many like-minded people, especially foreigners with veganism in common.
The seating includes tables with chairs as well as tables with couches. We sat at a couch-table combination, but I would sit at a regular table next time. The couches are a bit too deep for comfortably eating on. There are many books decorating the walls and other Western touches around the restaurant.
They have a push towards environmentalism and even recycle batteries. The used battery box is at the front of the restaurant as soon as you walk in the door and flyers all over about conservation and sustainability.
Overall, I thought the food was good and the ambiance was really nice. It made me forget for a moment that I even live in China!
Pros: Ambiance, Homemade products, Environmentally friendly
Cons: Pricey

So excited about the food here - Edit
Everything I ate here tasted beautiful. From the hummus + bread for starter, to the curry for main and the chocoate cake dessert. Set in a nice location, in what i'de call a 'trendy' area. Staff were friendly and spoke good English.

Nice place but service could be better - Edit
Nice ambience, stays open late and good menu. But their service could be a little better. The more I ordered the less they seem to be accomodating, bizarre I know. I wish some places understand some of us travelwith supporting vegan businesses in mind. I spend most of my money on vegan places I find on happy cow while traveling.

Western Vegan Food - Edit
This is a great place to go if you're missing Western food. I ended up here on day two of my trip to China as the place I was aiming for (Fairy Su) had had a fire and was closed and the only other spot close by on Happy Cow was very expensive. It was a cosy spot and I really enjoyed the pumpkin soup and veggie pate with pitta bread. The staff were friendly too and the wifi was good, it was a little pricy but nothing too ridiculous.

Go for the Drinks, Stay for the Cozy Atmosphere - Edit
I came here after a long couple of days of tourism, and was hoping for a spot to sit, sip on some warm drinks with non-dairy milk, and read a book. I was not disappointed!! The pasta dish I had was good, but the highlights were the chai latte and spiked rum hot chocolate. It was February and absolutely freezing in Beijing so the warm drinks were well needed. I'd say the food was average western vegan fare, nothing spectacular, but the atmosphere was really cozy and I can't say no to non-dairy lattes and hot chocolate, and having the option to spike your drinks makes a really nice treat. They were out of their desserts when I went, unfortunately, so I didn't get to try any.

Good food, friendly staff - Edit
A friend highly recommended the Veggie Table during my recent trip to Japan. She said to skip the desserts and that the hummus is so-so. I got the mushroom burger and it was pretty good. The flavour was nice and it was moist unlike many veggie burgers which can be dry. I also got the lemonana drink which was amazing! So minty and lemony, I would highly recommend on a hot Beijing day.
Read moreWhat really impressed me was that the servers went out of their way to help my friends and I to get a taxi to the airport. They booked the car for us and made sure we found the driver on the main street.
My friends got the falafel and it was good. The coleslaw was amazing and creamy. After living in China for a year I was looking for some familiar western vegan food and this hit the spot.

Cons: Expensive

Best vegan restaurant/café in Beijing - Edit
I have made an effort to try multiple vegan restaurants in Beijing, and find the Veggie Table the best one: The food is delicious, they use organic ingredients and purified water even for washing vegetables, the smoothies are heavenly, the chocolate cake is fluffy, they have an air purifier, it is super cosy with good music and comfortable sofas, the staff is very friendly and has not changed much in the past 4 years which means that, contrary to the usual way in China, they seem to be treated and paid fairly, and it s equally nice to have dinner, a coffee, or some wine here. THE BEST! (I come regularly, at least once a week for the past 4 years.)

Keep Your Expectations Low - Edit
I am always a little disappointed with this place. They have a really friendly atmosphere and comfy seating. They have a laser egg, showing the air quality levels, and a big air filter. It's in an adorable hutong and near the Yonghegong and Confucius Temples, so I have brought guests here.
Read moreThis is not Chinese food. They have burgers, chili, salads, soup. It's good, but very small portions and expensive. Priced like most Western food in Beijing -- expect to pay at least ¥100 per person.
They have wine and beer. I can't remember if they have a full bar.
NOTE: You have to pay for mayo and ketchup! Do it! You will want it! Of course you only get like 5 potato wedges, so you don't need much.

Must-go if you miss Western food - Edit
I moved to Beijing, so I've become accustomed to Chinese food. After a day out, I decided to come here, and I'm so glad I did. Has a good range of Western foods to choose from, although the menu is actually pretty small.

slightly expensive but good - Edit
The room is nice, cozy and you could as well spend a couple of hours reading here. Had the deservedly famous mushroom burger (68rmb), with humus (28) and topinade (32) as starters. That was a bit too much. To the point that I had to leave without tasting the what seemed to be very good chocolate and carrot cake, as I was full. I recommend this place if you are not on a budget travel.

A good vegan treat - Edit
What I really like about this place is that they serve alcohol. As far as I can remember, alcohol is vegan, and I love to have a good drink once in a while. So discovering their vegan chocolate milk with rum was heavenly good!
Read moreI ordered the mushroom burger with fries, which was pretty good and filling. Everything was super fresh, and therefore pricey as well. They have an explanation on every table about their way of producing their food, so I understand the price... I am a low budget traveller, so for me it is overpriced, but it has definitely been the best choice I could make for my only decadent meal during my stay in Beijing.

International vegan restaurant - Edit
Despite being pricy The Veggie Table serves tasty international food. I enjoyed the fact that they use organic veggies and recycled paper for tissues. I've been there many times and had burger, hummus, carrot cake and chocolate cake, dried tomato pasta and couscous. The only thing I didn't enjoy that much was the couscous.
