Great western food. - Edit
Is located in the alley next to the lama temple. All vegetarian. Fresh ingredients and quality can be tasted. Was excited to see shepherds pie on the menu and was not disappointed. Highly recommend.

Nearly Died - Edit
We explained to the waiter that I’m very allergic to peanuts and he assured us that our order had no peanut oil, peanut powder, peanut sauce, etc. We checked more than 3xs to be sure because China. Our humus came to the table and I felt my throat close within seconds. My friends grilled the waiter until he admitted there were “possibly” peanuts in that and they had to call an ambulance. By the time the paramedics arrived, I couldn’t answer any questions. I blacked out, so hardly remember much else. No food safety or care for the customers. If I was in the states, I would have sued. I’m not sure if my friends even paid the bill, but I hope not.

Thank you for this review. I am currently in Beijing with a peanut allergy and after having a bad reaction the other day am very scared. Your reviews are so helpful 💚

Oof I totally feel you. I wish more places were aware of how severe food allergies are. Did you already learn to say “I’m allergic to peanuts” in Mandarin? I carried a card around that said I could die if I ate peanuts and also that I’m vegan. I also just had the picture as a screensaver so I could show people when I arrived. Anyways, so glad my reviews are helpful. I think there are a lot of new vegan restaurant now, where before people had not really heard yet of the concept so I would venture with caution, curiosity, and an antihistamine always in my wallet. 💛🪷

Meh. - Edit
Nice atmosphere but this place represents a lot of what prevents veganism from spreading-Western style food that is overpriced and mediocre. If you are in Beijing and craving vegan, go to Vege Tiger.

Will be back - Edit
Did you know that you can come through China for six days without a visa if you can show them that you’re moving on via air to another city? So that’s what I did, and happy cow leads the way once again! This is a cute little place that we actually didn’t eat at yet but we are having hot wine in the freezing cold weather. Across the street is a Michelin star rated vegan restaurant called joy. We’re coming back here tomorrow. Service and atmosphere are pleasant and lovely.

So good we went twice - Edit
On our first night in Beijing we were starving and we found this restaurant in a little cool street nearby our hostel. They have plenty of vegan options and some veggie options too. We had the two kinds of burgers, both really good and the hummus and pita bread!
Read moreOn the second time there I had the yellow curry (cause they didn’t have green curry) but it wasn’t as good as the burgers. The falafels look really good too although I did’t try them.

Western food - Edit
This restaurant serves mostly western food. For chinese standards, I don't know if this is a good western place, but from someone coming from Europe, this food can't really compare.

Good Food - mostly not Chinese food - Edit
First, this restaurant is not completely vegan. There are a few items, clearly marked, that contain milk. Menu items marked 纯 (and it's most of them) are completely vegan.

Great food, but could be better - Edit
The Veggie Table is probably still my favourite vegan place in Beijing, just because of the great selection of western dishes and the quality of the food.
Read moreYes, it’s expensive, the portion sizes are tiny and the service could be a lot, lot better, but in a country where eating vegan is a challenge, this place makes it feel easy

Great food in a cool neighborhood - Edit
We had dinner here a few nights ago and enjoyed it. The menu is large and multi-ethnic so it provides a change of pace from other Beijing restaurants that focus on Chinese cuisine.
Read moreI had the falafel plate and my wife had the thai curry with a side of vegan coleslaw. Everything we had was very good. Overall the meal cost more than others in Beijing. This may be due the location - the Wudaoying Hutong is a hip shopping street with upscale clothing stores and cafes.
The restaurant is very easy to find and is about 5 minutes from the #2 metro. The staff speaks good English.
