good buffet with some interesting leaf "extras" from the owner's garden. The owner speaks excellent English. Quiet when during my visit and was informed that I was the 1st foreigner to visit in over 4 months.

Buddhist vegetarian buffet no egg, no onion/garlic - Edit
They serve different types of food, salad, rice, fruits. Staff don't speak English but -I think he was owner- speaks very well. You should definitely try that Buddhist vegan buffet. All you can eat style, 25000 kip

Vegan buffet not far from Patuxay Monument - Edit
This lunch buffet offers a good selection of Lao, Thai and Vietnamese-style vegan dishes that vary from day to day, including soups, stews, curries, fresh salad vegetables and herbs, spring rolls, battered vegetables, and a dessert. The owner is very friendly and welcoming.

Well hidden cheap all-you-can-eat - Edit
Despite being at exactly the location shown on the map, I had difficulties finding it. Please have a look at the photo of the entry area, so you don't stray. The restaurant is quite spacious (10 tables) and still has the all-you-can-eat lunch for 25000 Kip - a reasonable choice of fresh and prepared food. I thought some of it looked and/or tasted a bit stale, but this could have been due to my late arrival (1:30pm). The only dessert was pieces of water melon (included in the buffet) and the only drink was clean water (also included) - neither juices nor anything bottled on offer. Staff didn't speak English or French.

Cons: no beverages but water, hard to find, some food not fresh (?!)

Good food, nice owner - Edit
A nice little vegan restaurant about 15 minutes walk from the main tourist area of Vientiane. The owner was very friendly and happy to chat. There was a large selection of food, a lot of it Lao-style with fresh greens etc that you add to noodles, but there were quite a few cooked vegetable dishes to eat with rice, some deep fried vegetables (yum) and a dessert. Very good value being all you can eat for 25,000 kip.
