Great Food at the French Market - Edit
There's a lot of vegan options at the French Market, but this is the best. They do soul food as well as anywhere I've been, and unlike many of places at food courts, the quality feels very high.

Love this place - Edit
I usually grab food to go when I'm catching a train, but there are lots of tables to sit and eat at within the French Market if you want to dine in. They sell pieces of cake, flavors vary. Vanilla cake with caramel icing is my favorite. Everything from their hot bar is amazing. BBQ tofu and greens. The pot pie is perfect. The offerings change with the day of the week. I usually just get some of everything.

Cons: Some options are sold out if you go too late

Vegan Now - Edit
I’ve eaten at Vegan Now several times over the years and can say the food is always consistently delicious. If you love Soul Vegetarian on the south side, you’re guaranteed to love this quick/casual takeaway sister location. I’m a huge fan of their mac and cheese, and I appreciate that they continue to use their tried and true recipes instead of switching to a brand name vegan cheese. Overall, they offer your classic vegan junk foods and balance it out with healthy options too—e.g., greens, veggies, etc. Note that this is pay by weight and seating is limited. Would I eat here again? Of course! But in moderation!

Incredible West Loop Food! - Edit
This was a lifesaver when I worked at a tech company in West Loop. I would regularly bring back lunches that made my other coworkers jealous and I would often take people.
Read moreThe food is essential “pay by the pound” style, all fresh and homemade. Get there early because things start to sell out around 1-2pm!
Cheesy vegan Mac, BBQ seitan and chick’n wings are my favorites!
Pros: New choices every day , Relatively cheap for west loop , 100% vegan
Cons: No set menu, “luck of the draw”, Can be pricey (most expensive neighborhood)

My NEW Favorite in Chicago - Edit
I can't believe it's taken me five years of visiting Chicago frequently to try this place. It's a food stall inside of the French Market. The menu changes based on the day of the week - you can access the menu on their website. I tried the mac and cheese, fried seitan chicken, kale and cheesy broccoli. Holy smokes, the food was delicious!
Read moreThey also have several varieties of cake in their dessert case but I was too full to try any of them - looked really tasty though!
Definitely add this to the top of your list for places to try in Chicago.
(there's also a raw vegan place a few stalls down inside the French Market)
Pros: Delicious, Reasonably priced
Cons: Not open for dinner

Great food.. but not the nicest venue - Edit
Food was pretty good and nice family. It’s cool to have a place like this in a normal food court but if you aren’t in the mood for being around tons on non veg food then it’s a challenge. I’d go back however.

Mac and cheese to die for, their beans and rice are also amazing. I also had their chocolate cake and it was scrumptious. It's not the cheapest, you pay by the pound except the chicken, corn bread, desserts, and drinks.Very friendly staff. When I come back I am getting that corn bread.

Disappointed - Edit
Traveled out of my way to try this. Here for opening hours but still not opening like rest of market. I called the market and they said that this particular spot should be open now but usually opens later than posted.

Yummy!! - Edit
Very good! Stopped by today with my boyfriend around 2 pm. They didn’t have the Mac n cheese or the jerk chicken but the drumsticks were very good! I also tried the pot pie (pretty good but the crust was a little doughy), Mediterranean bites (chewy but tasty), loaded potatoes (tasted decent), and the cheesy broccoli (I would not recommend). Overall, it was pretty good. We ate everything but the broccoli. The drumsticks are amazing. I wish there were more options when we got there and that it was a bit hotter. By the time we ate it a few minutes later, most of it was not hot.

Places like this is why I’ve gained weight as a vegan. - Edit
I’m seriously in heaven. Getting to try multiple vegan dishes without being charged insane prices is making me give a little happy dance. I pretty much had a little of everything that they were serving today and not a single one disappointed. By no stretch of the imagination is this healthy food. However it is all your favorite comfort foods in a vegan form that actually tastes good.

Very good - Edit
Located inside of French Market, this take away serves mostly vegan version of soul food. When I came there, there were not many options (everything sold out and they were waiting to get more). I liked especially BBQ tofu and battered sticks. Also the banana peanut butter cake was very big, very sweet and tasty, almost indulgent.
Read moreThe food is only take-away so everything is served in plastic. I hope they could make something with that to be more ecological.

Teriyaki Chick’n - Edit
I tried the Teriyaki Chick’n and was blown away! The texture was spot on to the point that it was almost scary. It had a fried top layer that mimicked a meat drumstick without worrying about cruelty. Great flavor, not overly sweet or salty. Just perfect. Will definitely come again. I’m very intrigued as to how they were able to achieve the texture 🤔

The Best Mac and Cheese!!! - Edit
This is my favorite spot when I’m in the area. I recently tried their mac and cheese. It was so soulfully delicious!!!! The best one I had ever tried. Plus, they have vegan chickn drumsticks. Also, their marble cake is bomb! They are connected to Original Soul Vegetarian which is the oldest vegan restaurant in Chicago and it’s African owned. 😌

Excellent food for a quick bite - Edit
I managed to catch the end of lunchtime at the French Market on my recent trip to Chicago and had a selection of whatever was left at Vegan Now - it was a good choice! I had two of the drumsticks and almost went back to buy more after I had finished them! Besides the drumsticks, I had a "cheesy"broccoli casserole and a spicy cauliflower dish. Both were excellent and well seasoned. I only wish I had gotten there earlier so I could've tried more menu items!

This place is the best. Every time I go there I am not disappointed. If you go, you have to get the kale and anything 'cheesy' they have - the menu changes daily. They do things by the pound so you can get a small or large container, and they can adjust the portions however you want. Because it is by the pound it can be a little pricey, but it is always worth it, I have never had something I did not like.

I loved this little vegan food stand. It's inside a french market with many other food vendors. There is an ample amount of seating, and it's a really nice atmosphere. The food was great. The selections change on a daily basis. I liked it so much that I had to eat there a second time during my trip.

Inside the French market by the train. I enjoyed the food, there were five options when I was there - rice, pasta, tofu, some spinach mix and beans. Everything tasted very well. Service could be more attentive. I paid around ~10 bucks for my food.
