it's really... junk

Yes Instagrammable, and the portions are good. Maybe I ordered wrong (I had the schwarma burger), but there's a certain taste that completely ruins the whole thing... I couldn't figure out if it was the sauce, an herb, or the combination of the 2.

anyway, overall it tastes a lot like... food colouring 😅

the other items didn't look interesting to me at all; perhaps this kind of junk food isn't for me.

combined with the prices and the lackluster service, I don't see why I would ever have to return nor recommend this place to anyone...

Great burgers!

I got the vegan rib burger, which is something you don’t see often. It was saucy and the faux meat was a great texture. Really yum! My partner got some smiley fries — which were good but nothing special — and a baby wings burger which was both delicious and insanely cute.

Pros: Friendly service and staff, Great looking (and tasting) burgers, Cool music

Unique but impersonal

TL;DR: food is average quality for the category. Prices feel about right for the location, branding, etc. Not as good as it once was. Impersonal.

My last visit (different location) was some years ago, before the colourful rebrand. Back then, the food was visually orthodox but tasted amazing. Now, the food looks incredibly unique, but sadly the flavours don't match up to it. The protein textures are great. There was an overreliance on salt. Food was otherwise quite bland. The colourful variety of sauces sadly don't have as much flavour variance as your eyes might lead you to expect.

They've also introduced an online ordering system, so you can potentially go the entire visit barely speaking to anybody. I'm not a fan of this, even though I appreciate the efficiency of it.

Overall, worth a visit, especially if you like burgers - this is their forte.

Pros: Burgers, Not especially overpriced, Outdoor seating + view of a nice little square

Cons: Colourful food = gimmick, Lack of personal touch

Must-go!

A well deserved reputation, this is the fast-food of every vegan's dreams! All burgers, meats, fries and sauces are a success, special mention for the pink truffle sauce, I could've eat it all day long. The layout and decoration are so cute and cozy, I loved it all the way.

overpriced burgers but unique

Unique experience!

This place is crazy! The sauce is blue, the bread is pink! Very trendy and urban themed restaurant. Staff very amenable and will serve food until late. Extensive menu offering a range of junk food dishes.

Healthy junk food

Okay it’s junk food but it’s healthy as well. Lovely if you want a fast meal, a lot of different dishes and fast service. Don’t like the online order system they introduced this year though. I just want to keep it personal. You can still order with the waiter fortunatly.

Excellent vegan junk food

We went as a group and ordered lots of dishes to share. Everything was delicious especially the Cheezy Smash burger and the Mac and Cheeze Betterballs. My meat eating friend said the chicken wings were very realistic and would order again.

So many options to choose from! Definitely need to go back to try everything else.

Amazing flavours and options

If you are wanting an satisfying “dirty” meal this is the place to go. There were so many things I wanted to try. The Fly wings were great and I highly recommend. Service was quick too.

super cozy vibe

Instagram Central + Food

An instagramable vegan restaurant if i ever saw one. Nice service, and good food. Only docking a star for value - very very small slider burger for over €5. Within the first bite the whole vegan chicken bit was gone. Lovely tea and mac and cheese balls though.

Wel duur. Sommige gerechten echt overprized.

Recommend it

I liked the vegan junk food bar on marie heinekenplein. We had the daddy mc chik’n burger and the kapsalon and they were both pretty tasty except for the peppers the kapsalon was topped with. It had simply too many peppers. I do like spicy but this was a little too much. Also i thought the bun of the burger was a bit dry but that’s a detail because the burger in general was very nice. The waiters and waitresses responded quickly, were polite and we didn’t have to wait long for our food to arrive. Would recommend!

No complaints there

Nice location, friendly staff, lots of different options on the menu. They serve tasty cocktails & lager on tap. The food itself was very good. I had a vegan caesar salad with faux salmon because I wanted a healthyish option and really enjoyed it. My husband had a burger and was equally pleased. Desserts didn't look very enticing but we were full anyway so not a problem. Would definitely recommend.

Does what it says

Very acceptable junk food. I had a fish type burger and chips. Both were fine. Helpful and friendly waiter.

Oh. my. goodness... where do I even start?

I ordered the Crunchy Mac & Cheeze Betterballs, VJFBBQ Heppi Ribs, and Fresh Mint Tea.

CRUNCHY MAC & CHEEZE BETTERBALLS - filled with macaroni & cheese served with VJFB™ sauce.
These beautiful mac & cheeze bites were fried-tastic! The only thing I disliked was that the noodles inside were a bit mushy. I've had mac n cheese bites before where when you bit into the ball and you can actually see the noodles. That gives it an extra texture. If someone just gave me these without reading the menu, I wouldn't have known they were noodles.

VJFBBQ HEPPI RIBS - the world’s first vegan ribs on black/pink bun, lettuce, pickles, crunchy chipstix, sweet VJFBBQ & hot spicy chick sauce.
Oh. my. goodness. Where do I even start with this babe of a sandwich? I arrived in Amsterdam after a few long, confusing train rides from Berlin. After I checked in at the hostel, I headed straight to the Vegan Junk Food Bar. I was hungry and exhausted, but a bite of this sandwich, and I came back to life. I'm not even joking.

It brought me back to the old McDonald's McRib days! However, this was so much better. The rib was oozing with bbq flavorful and was a nice hefty portion. The sandwich was well-balanced with the accompanies of lettuce, tomato, pickles, and sauce. Also, whoever had the idea to add the chipstix, is a genius! It added a perfect crunch to every bite.

**I wasn't sure if the buns were dyed using natural ingredients or artificial, but they indeed get their pretty color from natural ingredients! sweet!**

FRESH MINT TEA - I loved how simple this fresh mint tea was, literally just mint and hot water. I also enjoyed the little Tony's Chocolonely chocolate treat.

OVERALL - The food was delicious. The atmosphere was fun, inviting, and exciting. I was jamming out with old-school music. Also, the server was friendly, helpful, and kind. Overall, I'm a fan of TVJFB! I took a few points off for the number of paper products they use. Especially for a vegan establishment, it seems like a waste. It's cute for decor purposes, but unless it's repurposed paper, it's not necessary.
