Delicious Vegan Food!

Very relaxed and comfortable feel in their cosy cafe. Me & my boyfriend had their best selling BBQ pulled jack fruit burger with avocado, peppers, vegan mayo & cheese in a soft proper bun w/ homemade crispy kale crisps - it was honestly perfect! The tastiest vegan comfort food I have eaten so far. Definitely worth a visit with lots of yummy options on their menu to try. I'll definitely be returning to try something else! Great job Vegan Hippo. :-)

Pros: Friendly, helpful staff , Lovely menu, Relaxed feel & atmosphere

Cons: Not much seating - so much potential to expand tho

not bad

Cute set up, I like the irony that it gives off a barn-vibe, although barns with animals in captivity is usually what we vegans preach against. The staff was nice, but food was just okay. The menu is not very creative. The food wasn't bad, but not super great either. I hope you guys get more creative with the meals!

Has a good selection of ready made sandwiches, also hot options available. They have cakes too, chocolate cake was pretty good.

Lovely friendly place

Loved vegan hippo, I had the gluten free jackfruit burger and it was so delicious! Will definitely be going back, wonder if they do their sandwiches in gluten free too. The chocolate cheese/ganache cake was to. die. for. and the staff were very accommodating and VERY friendly.

Pros: Affordable, Gluten-free, Friendly

Cons: Limited seating, Wobbly Tables, Small Menu

Tastes like home, but better

We were on holidays in London for one week and we ate here 4 times. Tasty and home made style food. The pierogi tasted like my wife's granma ones, but vegan, so even better!! The sandwitches to take away were also great, the staff really helpful and the place really cozy. It was plenty of books about veganism, animal liberation, recepies,... We enjoyed it very very much.

Pros: Tasty, Cozy, Pierogi!!!!!

Cons: None

needs improvement

I'm personally quite reluctant to give 2 stars for a Vegan restaurant therefore I'll explain in detail why I have. I ordered a jackfruit burger, which is personally one of my favourites.. Unfortunately when this came the bun was so HARD literally the knife had a hard time cutting it. It was impossible eat without pulling everything apart.. and it did. Also they used alot of BBQ sauce which overwhelmed the burger. Just tasted of BBQ sauce. They could of quite easily used 80% less, also the very commercial type. However! The fresh juice which really nice, and fairly priced at £4, the staff were also very friendly and offered great service, location is great with a nice hip atmosphere.

Wonderful!

This amazing little cafe is right in Soho and has delicious breakfasts and lunches as well as cakes, snacks and drinks. A real gem of a place that is open nice and early for a fully filling brekkie.

low key cafe with nice vegan food

This place was nice, there weren't very many menu options but there was a bigger range of sandwiches. Small seating area but it wasn't too full while we were there, and there was wifi. We enjoyed our sandwiches but they weren't anything special.

Pros: vegan

Cons: small menu

Where have you been hiding all my life

I spend quite a lot of time in soho and to my surprised tucked away on the corner of rupert street is one of the most calming full of character vegan cafè. The food is fast but for some reason I felt no rush to leave, free wifi a great range of books and there's 20% off if youre a student. The menu looks great although I was only able to try their gyros salad but I will return soon and let you know how their hot food is !!

Pros: Staff , VEGAN MAYO

Cons: Tables are abit bare

Excelent lunch and coffee

Fantastic vegan cafe just a short walk from Piccadilly Circus for both indulgent and healthy vegan food. The menu is small, but we tried the two daily meal specials, and they were both excellent. They seem to have some healthier options as well, but we went for the jackfruit sandwich and gyro. The menu seems to change daily, but if recommend both. We also got some nice coffees, too. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, and free wifi make this a great spot!

Pros: yummy food, coffee

Lunchtime

First visit shop small with seating to the back, received a friendly greeting on arrival. Menu is on blackboards and a bit limiting as they only have a small kitchen, but the Jackfruit burger and kale crisps was very tasty and enjoyed the chocolate cupcakes.
Would eat here again.

Pros: tasty food, friendly staff, rustic charm with its layout

Cons: limited menu

Cool Vegan junk food!

Very cozy and tasty junk food, the menu is somewhat limited though, only two hot meal options, the rest are pre-prepared salads and other cold sandwiches.

Pros: Awesome junk food , Excellent service, very friendly attitude, They have plenty of books about ethical veganism

Cons: The place is quite small, Very limited menu options

Something for everyone

I've now been in twice and had two different soups, a beetroot mango salad with lovely soya yogurt dressing, a truly delicious avocado n hummus sandwich and two slices of gorgeous coconut chocolate cheesecake. It seems like they are experimenting with the menu and finding out what works, as I've seen it change a lot, but I was impressed that I could choose healthy stuff while the kid next to me munched on a huge hot dog, ticking junk food boxes too. The burger meal looks like a delicious happy medium - I'll try that next time if I can resist the avocadmuss. The place has buckets of charm - cute decor and crockery and lovely people, and the food is good value. I will definitely keep coming back

Pros: location, staff, value

Cons: small menu

with more effort, could be packed!

I REALLY want to love this place, have been many times and I'm keen to support vegan restaurants...BUT...the very poor food is the lowest quality vegan food in town. Given the location, this is a huge wasted opportunity! Unfortunately, it also confirms meat-eaters' general misconception that vegan food is poor, which is a shame. Example: serving bland, plain salad with no dressing at all; just vegetables plonked on a plate. Really Hippo? Most people wouldn't even do that at home, let alone in a restaurant! Vegan food should be about making meat-free food delicious! The lack of creativity is staggering and goodness knows how they pay the rent at this location with so few customers! I keep going back hoping they've got the message, but no. Can I politely suggest the hippo team talk up Berwick street to Mojo (on corner of D'Arblay St) to see some AMAZINGLY creative, delicious vegan delights! Or Mildred's (if you can get a table). Or Vanilla Black. Steal their ideas!

Tasty vegan coconut yogurt cheesecake

They seem to have simplified the menu at this little cafe since I was last there. I didn't get anything savoury this time, but I really enjoyed the vegan coconut yogurt cheesecake!

Not very good

It's o.k. but I think chips at every "normal" take away shop are better. The food was made in the microwave, definitely not fresh and it wasn't really hot, only a bit warm. My burger falls apart and the burger bread was not good. Best of all have been the cheese and the sweet potatoes.
The price is o.k. for the size, but not for taste. It's not tasty.
The "restaurant"(you can't really call it restaurant) was cold, not only a bit warm.

Pros: friendly waiter, cheap

Cons: cold room

hotdog and sides

Ordered the hotdog coming with side veggies, a juice and a cake.
The hotdog, although good was near room temperature, the sweet potatoes cold just like the raw non-seasoned veggies....
Nothing special for the juice, at least I know that the ones I do at home are better.
The clear highlight of the meal was the chocolate cake! Creaming and not too sweet! I recommend!

Pros: chocolate cake, friendly staff , location

Cons: side dishes

Great banana loaf!

Nice and cosy, right in the bustle of soho. The staff were shy but friendly, and the banana loaf was delicious! I'm eager to return and try the vegan hotdog and burger. Prices are good and they have some interesting books available to read :)

Pros: Good prices, Good food, Cosy interior

Cons: Shy staff

Stunning value for Soho!

Found this place via Happy Cow and nipped in for a quick eat on the way to the pub and was delighted to find such great food in nice casual surroundings and a good meal for under a tenner.
I had the Veggie Hotdog and a juice from the fridge.
All really nice and served quickly by the affable chap in charge.
Couldn't fault anything and will definitely make it a regular.

Pros: Location, Quality of food, Price

Cons: menu a little limited, cafe atmos may be too casual for some

Quaint Little Vegan Hole

Found this place tucked away in the heart of London, really lovely chilled atmosphere and only a couple of tables.

Food was good, my mum had a hot dog but there was too much mustard on it so it burned her (and my) nose. The menu was more of a guideline as it listed soup - they didn't have any. It listed cakes which they didn't have. However, they did have cakes which were DELICIOUS. So was the food I ordered (the dumplings). The tea comes in massive mugs and was the best tea my mum has ever had. Would definitely go again and would recommend.

Staff were friendly and the toilet was nice.

Pros: Food tasted good, Nice decor, Friendly staff

Cons: Too much mustard!, Menu was misleading

Charming!

The place was lovely, really charming. But my hotdog was cold. What I had was pretty good - extremely cheap! They could've charged double and it would've been a cheap restaurant!

Disappointing

Upon walking in, it wasn't clear what we were supposed to do. There were menus on the till desk, and we didn't know whether to take them and sit down, or whether to look at them and order, or order food, sit then pay. The food wasn't great. I had a hot dog which came with soggy sweet potato chips which seemed more like butternut squash chunks. And it came with a tasteless salad. My boyfriend had a burger, which consisted of a tiny tasteless mushy burger in a massive bap. The surroundings inside were over the top. Garish paintings preaching veganism, which I imagine puts any non-vegans off being in there, and vegans don't need preaching to. And the place was adjacent to a gay sex shop and a seedy Thai massage parlour. Overall one of the most uncomfortable, unsatisfactory and disappointing places I've ever been to.

Pros: Everything is vegan

Cons: Food was tasteless, confusing about how to order,

the food

This place is well located and very cosy. The decor is lovely and staff friendly. The food however is terrible, looks unappetising and although tasting okay, it felt like it probably was heated in a microwave. In the end you can find some much nicer places than this for the same price.

Pros: Staff, location and decor

Cons: the food

Very disappointing

The cafe itself is lovely, staff were nice, but the food is really just something anyone can make at home (and you'd probably make it better too!!). The price is too high for the quality you get. I had a sandwich and a hot dog (both average, nothing special). I was still hungry, so I ordered the crepe with strawberry jam - it was terrible quality and way too much jam.

They have a great opportunity here, they really need to focus on the food. Change the menu, improve the quality.

Pros: Nice atmosphere, Friendly staff

Cons: Food quality
