Firstly you can only pay with cash and you have to pay before you get the food. I had the Dim-Sum, rice with yellow curry and vegan shrimps and a Lemonade. My boyfriend had the fried noodles with vegan chicken. The Dim-Sum and curry were very tasty and made me full. Sadly the noodles had zero flavour and the chicken also tasted like nothing. You also have to go to the front desk to order your food. There is no service. The restaurant was also pretty empty.

Billiges asiatisches Essen mit Nostalgie-Faktor - Edit
Mich erinnern gebratene Nudeln vom "Asiaten" immer an meine Kindheit und diese gibts hier lecker und in vegan. Es gibt auch viele weitere Gerichte mit verschiedenen Beilagen (Tofu, Fleischalternativen, etc.). Zudem ist es hier richtig preiswert. Große Portion Nudeln mit Tofu nur 5€ (Stand August 2024).

Why do I love this place so much? :D - Edit
Affordable asian fast food. They have a huge menu with different varieties of soups, noodle dishes, curries, chop suey etc. They also serve a couple of different fake meats, which is always a fun thing to try out, but what i can REALLY recommend is the tofu dishes. They know how to crisp up their cubes! I have been to Vegan Express almost every single time I've been in Leipzig and to be honest, the quality of the sauces has been very different over the years. On good days the food was really good, while sometimes it also tasted a bit watery. Still, the prices are absolutely fine and the overall experience has always been great. You get what you pay for and I'm down with that! :)

Read moreWir waren echt begeistert von unseren zwei Gerichten. Wir hatten einmal das rote Curry mit veganem, gebackenem Huhn und einmal das Chop Suey mit gebackener, veganer Ente, beides mega lecker. Wir hatten die Gerichte zum Mitnehmen bestellt, es war super schnell fertig :).
Zwei Tage später wollten wir nochmal Essen dort mitnehmen, haben daheim dann allerdings gemerkt, dass uns die falschen Hauptgerichte mitgegeben wurden. Deshalb "mussten" wir einmal Gemüse in Süß-Sauer-Soße und einmal vegane Garnelen mit gelbem Curry essen :D. War ganz ok, aber die richtige Bestellung wäre und lieber gewesen. Dazu hatten wir noch Dim-Sum und Frühlingsrollen, die waren wirklich super lecker :).

We ordered the Red Curry with deep Fried vegan Chicken and the Chop Suey with deep Fried vegan Duck. Both dishes tasted really good. We ordered top Take away and the food was ready super quick :).
Two days later, we wanted to order there again but noticed only at home that we ended up with the wrong main dishes. So, we had to eat vegetables in sweet and sour sauce and deep fried shrimps with yellow curry. It tasted alright but we had rather had the dishes we ordered 🙈. We also ordered dim sum which tasted good and the spring rolls, which were really good :).

Beste Wan Tan Suppe - Edit
Immer wenn ich in Leipzig bin, ist ein Besuch im Vegan Express Pflicht. Die beste Wan Tan Suppe, die ich bisher gegessen habe. Die Sommerrollen kann ich ebenfalls empfehlen. Der Name ist leider tatsächlich verwirrend. Es gibt alle Gerichte auch mit Fleisch. Sonst große Auswahl an veganen Gerichten mit Tofu, Seitan uvm.

Bei unserer Bestellung wurde leider etwas verwechselt (Udonnudeln statt Reisbandnudeln), was für uns jetzt nicht so schlimm war, aber das nächste mal trotzdem lieber bei der Bestellung noch einmal deutlich darauf hinweisen

This is my favorite place in Connewitz for asian vegan food. The mock-duck/soba noodles combo is great, and also try the R1 from the special menu. Delicious.

Anders als der Name vermuten lässt, ist dies kein veganes Restaurant. Es gibt allerdings eine vegane Rubrik auf der Karte, unter der allerdings Fleischgerichte auftauchen. Das ganze wirkt nicht besonders vertrauenswürdig.

Many vegan options - Edit
Despite its fast-food-look from the outside, this restaurant is pretty cosy in the inside and the waitress was very friendly. The large range of vegan options was remarkable! I had the faux duck with vegetables and rice. The "duck" was very tasty with a crispy breading but the sauce was a little bit to conventional. Moreover, I had a homemade tea with orange and cinnamon which can be ordered without the honey, which was very good, too.
