Comfort food - Edit
We passed here during the day to pick up some savory pastries. They were very tasty and a lot of different kinds.
Read moreBecause these were so good, we decided to come back for dinner. The pictures don't do the dishes justice, we had a very lovely curry (dish of the day) and a veganised traditional Portugese "fish" dish. We loved every bit of it. Totally would recommend.

Nice little place - Edit
The owners were so friendly and you see that they care a lot about ethical veganism. I was there two times because Faro does not offer so many vegan options on a budget. I tried their burgers in the evening and forgot to take pictures.
Read moreTheir food is pretty good but there were some things I didn't like. I tried their different savory pastries and some sweet ones too and they were good but for too long in their counter and already very dry and cold. I think they would be better to be tasted fresh. I also did not like their chocolate cake because it was very gummy. But they seem to try out many recipes and they probably offer different cakes all the time. Their burger was delicious but the fries didn't taste like much.

Lovely vegan snacks - Edit
Quaint little cafe off the main strip serving coffee and vegan snacks such as pastéil de nata, quiche, plan, pastries and fried snacks. I tried a creamy jackfruit breaded croquette which was amazing (reminded me of quiche Lorraine flavours) and also a pastéil de nata which I was served warm with cinnamon. This was unusual but delicious! They also offer cooked meals and burgers

1 star. - Edit
Friendly female working, not problem with the service at all. But the place was untidy, cheap, cluttered and just all round unclean. It needs a lot of work doing inside. Needs better storing of products and equipment. Sloppy. I almost walked out but my partner and I stayed as we walked to it and it seemed like we will just try it. I ordered a tart, which didn’t look so good. I didn’t like how it tasted too…bland, dry and cheap tasting cafe food. I had a bite. My partner had a burger…he didn’t enjoy it. Was bland. Not sure how you mess up a burger…but it was achieved.

Hello, our place open at 10am and close at 22h30pm , non stop, no brakes, so some days is difficult to clean the rooms every time. Im really sorry if was not so clean when you stop there ☺️

Rude owner (?) and small portions - Edit
When you walk in it does not really seem like the older gentleman behind the counter wants you to be there. Very rude attitude and not really willing to answer questions about the menue. The portions were small. There are nicer, although not fully vegan, options in town.

Not fully vegan? Really. That didn’t make it clear inside. I swear it’s all vegan. I had a bite of one thing and It was awful. Not a good place.

Bland and cold, disappointed - Edit
Seeing the high ratings for this place made me excited to check out possibly the only fully vegan restaurant in Faro but we were extremely shocked at how bad the food was. When we walked in, the items on the menu sounded good so we ordered The Black Hole (black bean burger), chilli, and a special dish that I forgot the name of. We also saw some pastries and ordered some as starters, specifically the potato with corn and carrots, mushroom and spinach, and curry pastry. The seating area upstairs was cute and isolated. The pastries came first but they tasted like they’ve been sitting in the window for a long time and was reheated with the microwave which is exactly what happened (we could hear the microwave opening and closing downstairs). The curry pastry was slightly burnt as well. All were bland and needed more salt. The chili came next but it was pretty cold and also had no flavor. The fake meat was also no good and tasted odd. The special dish came next and was cold as well. The appearance didn’t make it look too appetizing as well. The final dish The Black Hole came and we were hoping this would save them. From first glance it looked okay but when we bit into it, it was the worst dish out of all of them. The bun wasn’t toasted at all so it just tasted like there was so much bread. The black bean patty wasn’t good as well, lacked flavor. The custard pastry dessert was the best thing they had there but it was also burnt so we had to peel off the top layer. Overall, we wanted to like and support this place but we were extremely appalled at how bad the food was. It didn’t look like they had a kitchen so most of the food must have been made in the morning (we went at 6pm). I would not recommend you check out this place because it could deter you from being vegan. They also don’t take card, only cash. There’s an atm a minute walk away but it doesn’t work as a cash exchange.

Solid vegan spot - Edit
This place was solid. Staff was very friendly but the flavor profile of the dishes could be improved. We had the typical Portuguese layer cookie cake and a salty vegetable empanada. The flavors were just okay. A bit bland.

Tasty vegan bacalhau and pastries - Edit
The ‘vegalhau’ is hearty and flavourful without any fishiness at all. I also took home a sampler of their tasty savoury and sweet pastries. You’ve gotta eat here if you’re in Faro.

Great little lunch spot - Edit
Popped in for lunch and the place was quiet. Staff very friendly and took the time to explain everything to us.
Read moreWe had the vegan dish of the day (Portuguese classic fish dish that I can't remember the name of!) and the kebab without a pitta. The kebab was amazing, but the main dish arrived a little cold.
We also ordered some little pastries and desserts to try a little of everything. We ended up having to take away our dessert as the staff forgot to bring it. However, it was the end of the day and only one staff member, which might explain our experience.
A definite recommend in Faro for a quick lunch.
Pros: Lots of lunch options , Great pastries and cakes, Traditional food
Cons: Patchy service, Small

Okay - Edit
Came here as had high reviews from others. Lady behind the counter nice enough. It's a small and cute lil cafe hidden away in the back streets. Has a nice upstairs area too. I ordered the Chilli the food arrived cold. He chilli was also soya chunks not soya mince, but thats my fault for not checking. After having this heated up the food, I noted it was very bland. I noted the lady was doing everything in this cafe on her own. Hence why maybe things were missed. Took a stab and ordered a nata on my way out. This was also soggy and a but bland.

Regular vegan restaurant - Edit
I had one meal which I’ve to describe as regular, I mean there’re much better places, but it wasn’t the worst thing in the world. From the starters to the dessert nothing was very bad neither very good. Food was warmed in the microwave…

Many Portuguese specialties. The place is a bit hard to find at first sight, but has very tasty food on offer. So it is worth to have a close look. Without Happy Cow, we probably wouldn't have found it. Especially good to take snacks with you. Cheap and super tasty!
