Jamaican Style Vegan - Edit
We were in Belize City in our way to Hopkins and I’d been fasting all day so I stopped here to grab a bite. It was very close to their closing time and they were only four options left so that’s what I had: callaloo, chickpeas, pumpkin, and mushrooms. The flavor wasn’t bad but the food was cold even though they put it in the microwave before giving it to me. If I had to go back I’d definitely try to make it earlier and get warm food and choose things that I actually wanted and not what I had to just settle for.

Delicious and health food - Edit
I had a real tasty meal with mushroom, beans, different veggies and a fantastic fried tofu. The father and daughter that cook together are really nice people.

Good But Not As Good As I Hoped - Edit
I found this all Vegan place like I do many others, right here on Happy Cow. It simply a Kiosk in the BTL Park. Nice park overlooking the Caribbean so you’ll have a wonderful view while eating to the sounds of many seagulls. On to the food. It was good, not great. I had the fried rice with curried tofu. The tofu was unfortunately overcooked and tough... but flavorful. I also had mock meatballs in a lemon sauce. Those were better but also a bit tough. The place was packed with a line of local Vegans which was nice. All in all, I’ll. E back with a hope it’s even better next time. The owners were wonderful.

really nice takeaway - Edit
A simple takeaway stand with incredible food. Mock meats and veggies all prepared in typical Caribbean style, but cruelty-free!

Delicious all vegan food in Belize City - Edit
Loved Vegan Bites. Buffet style dishes which change daily. Can get 3 or 4 different dishes for $7 or $10BZ. We had ‘beef’ and broccoli, BBQ ‘chicken’, plantain patties (yum!), and calaloo with rice. All so good. Jamaican patties were $2BZ , big and delicious. Friendly owner and staff and looks like they have dedicated clientele as many people were hanging around just before opening, and got busy within the first 1/2 hour so go early for best selection, and your chance to nab a Jamaican patty (they were all gone by the time we finished eating). I’ve updated the hours to M-Th noon to 3 pm and F-Sa 7pm to 12am. Everything comes in styrofoam so bring a dish if you can.

Great find right on the ocean! - Edit
Loved it! There's no menu, you just choose from what's being served that day. I got the pumpkin curry, kale coleslaw, and rice and beans -- all excellent. My husband got the lasagne and gave it two thumbs up. We tried a couple interesting juices and of course the chocolate and spice cakes. Service was nice and friendly and we found a shady picnic table in the back. Just what we were looking for!

Good vegan food in Belize - Edit
After surviving on rice and beans for my trip, on our last day we found this gem....yeah!!! Comfort food at its best! The owner Reuben had many choices and everything was full of flavor and delicious. Did I mention that prices were a steal. We had fried rice made with brown rice, stew pumpkin, vegan ginger chicken(amaaaazing!!), and a zucchini medley. We also purchased vegetable, whole wheat patties for the road, along with 3 whole wheat, ginger chicken wraps. Reuben also had a extremely moist, vegan, carrot cake..yum yum yum. We regret that we found this place on the last day of our visit. Great 100% vegan food!

Wholesome Home-Cooked All Vegan! - Edit
Visiting from San Diego, I was thrilled to find a 100% vegan eatery in Belize City. Reuben told me that it was tough finding vegan food here, so he started his own restaurant. The food was tasty and filling with lots of choices, including dessert!

Good Vegan Food In Belize City - Edit
Tasty dishes, largely nut free (Ruben, the proprietor, was very helpful in explaining what ingredients he uses). Good location (BTL Park - safe at night too, and taxi drivers know where it is). Facebook page is up to date (as of 15.6.2014). I recommend calling ahead to verify that they're open. Great value (large styrofoam tray costs BZ$10). Would ceartinly go back if staying longer in Belize.

This was OK - Edit
First of all, kudos to Vegan Bites for creating an all-vegan place to eat in Belize City, where vegetarian food (other than rice and beans) isn't particularly common. Anyway, Vegan Bites is in a small hut in a waterfront park just north of the Princess Hotel and Casino, where there are other huts that serve various (mostly ethnic food such as Jamaican or Filipino, with usually limited vegetarian options). People eat outside on park benches. Anyway, Vegan Bites appears to normally be open at lunch, but are inconsistent with their evening hours (if they're open, they're open around 7-8 PM, but some evenings they're closed). Their food was OK but not great (could use a little more flavor/spice)--tasted a bit "amateurish" but at least there was a good variety in the buffet (which is priced based on the size of the container (it's styrofoam though)--if you get the large, then you can get a little of everything). They have a variety of soy dishes and vegetable dishes (callaloo, squash, okra, etc.), plus whole wheat tortillas and Jamaican patties. Hopefully they'll improve and become 4 or 5 "cows" soon!

Great... - Edit
I love their food. They have a good selection and the portions are filling. I was amazed by their lasagna. The cantaloupe juice was very refreshing, not too sweet or over powering just a great clean flavor. The other night they even had a bun and cheese selection....my oh my...haven't ate cheese in years but their vegan cheese hit the spot....staff members we ever so kind....I'm a satisfied customer!!!!!
