Brilliant! Great service and fantastic menu. The food was outstanding. It was worth getting the set menu so that we could try lots of different items. We couldn't fault any of the food, it was all beautifully cooked, flavoursome and well presented.

Vandal was nothing short of extraordinary, opting into the set menu i embarked in a culinary journey that left me thoroughly impressed. The food will simply unreal, each course was visual masterpiece and a delight to the tastebuds. It was delivered with remarkable speed. Thanks to the efficient and friendly staff. The mushroom quesadillas were a standout for me. The combination of mushrooms perfectly melted cheese and spice with a true winner.

Can't fault this place! My partner and I went for dinner twice in four nights during our trip to Sydney. Everything we ate was beautifully presented and tasted amazing! As others have mentioned, you can't go wrong with the Set Menu; it gives you a decent taste of all the menu highlights at a very reasonable price. Our favourite dish was the Tuna Ceviche Tostadas, 10/10. The Birria Totopo was also super tasty with just the right amount of spice. They call it the “perfect little flavour bomb” and I don’t disagree. My only complaint is I wish it was bigger!
Read moreThe service we received from the staff on both visits was excellent, they were super friendly and happy to engage in some banter as well as meaningful chat. The restaurant itself has a very relaxed spacious vibe with cool decor, warm lighting and big bifold doors that allow the front of the restaurant to be open and creates an al fresco feeling.
Will definitely come again anytime I'm in Sydney!

I’ve been to vandal 3 times now. First it was an Uber eats take away order, then with a large group of friends where we ordered separately and I wasn’t too impressed but last weekend I gave it another go and went with the set menu and was happily surprised.
Read moreI’m typically hesitant to order a set menu as I’m concerned for small portion sizes and missing out on trying things I want but the set menu at vandal was a great selection of everything and you could choose your own tacos or add on anything else. The set menu was so well portioned, I ended up asking for the extras I ordered to be cancelled. The margaritas were also delicious! The service was brilliant and the atmosphere was great. Would definitely go back again.

Delicious! We had the classic set menu with a variety of smaller meals, including guacamole, quesadillas and tacos. Everything was amazing. The chocolate mousse for dessert was sooo good!

Revisited last night had empanada and celerity katsu taco both were great tasting and flavour. Partner had chagrined corn and zucchini flowers. He enjoyed them both. Had lychee mocktail.

Regarding tacos, I'd certainly recommend Calle Rey, but I find the atmosphere much better here at Vandal. Also, I prefer their menu variety, with less fried options. Absolutely obsessed with the hamburger spring rolls and the zucchini flowers. I also recommend the smoked "chicken" taco, the mushroom quesadilla, and the guac (probably nothing like you've had before, with a very eggy taste). I've heard they have Taco Tuesdays, but I haven't done that yet.

I was absolutely taken back with how delicious this place was compared to the value you're getting. It's not cheap, but is extremely affordable and absolutely worth it. The set meal is a lot of food and this is the best Mexican style food I've had anywhere in Australia. I can't wait to come back

My Latino partner and I dined at Vandal off seemingly good reviews. Our experience differs vastly from what we were expecting. The food was bland, and the flavours that were there didn't compliment eachother. It didn't taste like fresh ingredients were used and some even tasted like a frozen oven dish (croquettes). It doesn't do the beauty of Mexican food justice - and we understand it is a usa fusion restaurant but incredibly disappointed overall. We wouldn't go back or recommend it.

I wasn’t sure what to expect here when I made the booking and the place looked crowded when I walked past, but it turned out to be an excellent experience. Staff were friendly and helpful. Some of the urban murals and counter-culture slogans on the wall were a bit try-hard but the atmosphere was generally lively and appealing. We chose the tasting menu and this was very good: all dishes were delicious and arrived quickly, so no waiting around. The highlight for me was the chargrilled corn. Often this dish can be dry and corn gets stuck in your teeth, but here it was tender and melt-in-your-mouth, with a deliciously messy array of toppings. Unlike in some places the menu did not leave us starving, although with the price at $30 I wouldn’t have minded paying for an extra taco. As it happens we ordered the churros for dessert and did not know what we were in for. Instead of some small piped pieces of donut we were brought long, fat, crusty, sausage-like churros, with a scoop of ice cream, lying in a pool of syrup. No complaining though: it was delicious and we finished it off no problem. A great dinner that makes me want to come back and try other dishes.

I had the set menu in the past and it's really worth it. Margaritas are also good but really if you love tacos this is your place.
