A nice spot for a savoury croissant - Edit
Friendly staff who gave me recommendations based on what was popular amd I’m the end I went with the Croque Monsieur with added cornichons. I enjoyed it for a quick brunch with a soy flat white. Wouldn’t go often but good for when I feel like something a bit different and lighter brunch option. They have wide variety of macaroons and ice cream if you’re more into sweets

Good. Weird - Edit
I had a tomato and mozzarella croissant. It was good, but weirdly, it was put on a hotplate and flattened, although I didn't ask for that. If they had asked I would have liked to have it non flattened to get the texture of a fresh croissant.
Read moreAlso weirdly there's no menu. the customer has to hunt through cake displays to see what's there. That's easier said than done as the descriptions can't easily be seen from standing eye level.

Real French Croissants & excellent coffee - Edit
We had a plain croissant and it brought back memories of Paris, these are the real thing! Also had a cinnamon croissant which was light and fluffy and not too sweet. The coffee was excellent too.

It was so good - Edit
I had a croque monsieur croissant. That was an hour ago. I can’t stop thinking about it. It was so good. Every individual element of it was perfect. It was not complex, as a ham and cheese sandwich is meant to be. I am happy to pay $12 for it when it is this nice. Incredible.

Delightful toasted croissant - Edit
The croissants here are a delight! We got the tomato and mozzarella, and the pepper salami and 4 cheese croissants. They are toasted in a sandwich press, so if you're not a fan of flattened croissants maybe ask them to skip that step, but it works for me! Good flavours and beautiful flakiness to the croissants. Wasn't rapt about the cutlery, it's those weird thin ones that are really uncomfortable to use, but I'm not that classy anyway so I just ate it with my hands. The sweet treats looked amazing, maybe another time! Likewise, heaps of goodies in the cabinet.

It's so hard to find vegan French food and desserts! This lovely café in Newtown has all the delicious, cruelty-free versions of the French classics plus the best French atmosphere (and music!). Today I had cappuccino and macarons ❤️🇨🇵

Tasty fun treats - Edit
Ordered a cheese and tomato croissant, creme brulée plus macarons via delivery. The croissant was delicious and would definitely get again. The macarons didn't quite have the same texture as non-vegan ones, but I imagine this would be pretty difficult to achieve. They tasted great though, and I especially loved the pistachio and passion fruit flavours.
Read moreThe creme brulée was not quite my cup of tea - the texture and taste was not quite spot on.
Would definitely go back!

Great breakfast option - Edit
Was surprised to find this tucked away on what seems like the less active side of Newtown. Had the croque monsieur, coffee and tried a macaron for the hell of it.
Read moreThe croissant was flaky and good for breakfast, although I’d love a bit more meat inside. Coffee was good, and the macaron had good flavor and structure.
Definitely worth a stop! Try to time it with the vegan fromagerie next door - check yours online before going!

Eating the macaron rainbow - Edit
No way could we choose from all the wonderful flavours and beautiful colours of macarons in the cabinet, so we bought one of each. They were lovely, a tiny bit sweet, but still great! I appreciate how difficult and fiddly they are to make and I don't think they are over priced. Despite being on the sweeter side I would definitely purchase more especially for a special event.

I am a Gourmand - Edit
My partner and I stopped here for lunch and tried three of the croissants. We had them all toasted, they were: Mushroom and Truffle Oil, Four Cheese and Pepper Slice and the Croque Monsieur with added cornichons (pickles).
Read moreThey were all quite good. The Four Cheese and Pepper Slice was our least favourite, three of the four cheeses were not sliced or spread, just cut and placed as chunks inside the croissant and the pepper slice was just a single slice so was easily overpowered by all of the cheese. Still not bad, just not great. The Croque Monsieur was also a little disappointing as it didn't have any grated/melted cheese on the top, as is traditional.
I'd definitely come back again, especially to try some of the sweets, but it fell short of 5 stars as we weren't blown away by the food, and some of the prices seemed a little high.
