We came so my partner could get vegan pastries and I could get vegan smørrebrød, and we were both really happy here. My partner got the vegan meatball sandwich, which we think was falafel, but it was really good. I wanted a smørrebrød, and the staff recommended the royal kartoffelsalat. I have never liked potato salad, but I gave it a chance, and wtf this was so good. My partner also tried the kartoffelkage—which does not actually contain potato, it just looks like a potato 😂 —and he really enjoyed it. The cortados we got here were excellent.

You wouldn’t know it was a vegan cafe if you were walking by. In fact you might miss it altogether!

I had the rye bread open sandwich with a potato salad topping which was lovely and rich in flavour. I was fearful it would have been dry but it wasn’t at all. I would recommend it and would like to return again to try some of their other items.

Next time we're going to have a nice savoury lunch instead.
Great friendly and helpful service, delicious food and a lovely historical location. Also really reasonable prices.
We sat outside in the sun in the very pretty courtyard.

Really relaxed and friendly atmosphere in café with a cosy decor. The cakes are really something. I loved the raspberry almond vanilla so much, but all three we tried were great. The smørrebrød was delicious! Really nice staff, who make an effort to make you feel really welcome.

Recommend - Amazing coffee - Edit
Definitely recommend a visit - had a pink cream puff & a cinnamon swirl which were both lovely. Absolute highlight was their double espresso caffe latte though - best coffee had in Copenhagen. Staff were lovely - bright & cheery early in the morning.

Nu har jeg fået min første kartoffelkage siden jeg blev veganer for mange år siden, og det har været ventetiden værd. Den smagte præcis som dem jeg fik på typiske københavner konditorier som barn. Lækker og luftig, ikke alt for sød og med rigeligt god kakao på toppen. Min americano var også rigtig god.

Smørrebrød and Wienerbrød - Edit
V Sorte Hest is located in an old, yellow, listed building, which have housed several bakeries through the time. But now the current owner have made this beautiful building host a 100 % vegan café and confectioner's shop.
Read moreHere you can get some traditional, Danish "Smørrebrød" (open sandwiches) and "Wienerbrød" (pastries) in vegan edition. They furthermore offer more "classic" cakes, bowls and sandwiches, but I will recommend the Smørrebrød and Wienerbrød, since V Sorte Hest is one of a very few places in Denmark, that offers these in a vegan edition.
I had the "Hønsefri haps" (vegan chicken mayo salad) and "Grønne Frikadelle Delights" (rissoles). The "Veggie Velvet Elegance" was unfortunately sold out this day.
Both pieces of Smørrebrød was very good, and are excellent replacements for the regular, Danish Smørrebrød. I do miss more veganized, classic edition like a "Krigsfiskefilet" or "Dyrevennens Natmad" (both slightly changed names from classic Smørrebrød, and the name ideas is hereby pass on to the café).
Afterwards I had a croissant and a chocolate pie slice. The croissant need improvement however. I've missed a good, vegan croissant, especially since Café Kaf downgraded their croissant recently. But the chocolate pie is good, and so do all their other cakes looks.
I also had some Wienerbrød with me home. A "Kanelsnegl" (cinnamon roll) and Marcipan horn. Unfortunately, they don't add icing ("Glasur") on their cinnamon roll, which is the best part of the "Kanelsnegl".
So my final verdict is a huge recommendation for this new, vegan café, in a nice, cosy, old building. There is room for some small improvements, as mentioned above. But nothing huge, and I end up with 5 starts.

At first glance we thought that we had missed something, and it was a conventional cafe, bc some cakes had signs saying “veg. cake” and some had signs not stating that it is vegan. But don’t judge the book by its cover. Everything is vegan.

Delicious vegan food served by friendly staff and a large variety of different types of vegan cake and pastries. All very tasty and a very good pricing which is hard to find these days in Copenhagen. I got the Plant Powerhouse burger which was yummy and fresh. I love that it comes without fries and all that [censored] because it allows me to eat out without bursting my budget both economically and calorie wise. That way there is also room in the budget for a dessert, however this time I passed on that. But I will definitely come back. This place has already made it to my personal top 3 of restaurants in Copenhagen. I hope the concept will stay this way and survive without raising the prices immensely and/or going back to animal products, since that has happened to so many of other plantbased restaurants and cafes recent years.
