I had the scrambled tofu which was out of this world. Can definitely recommend.

Ordered the tofu scramble. Explained the artificial preservative free allergy, as often avocado mash has sulphites. Not a problem I got lots of fresh avocado.

I ordered an oat hot chocolate and the vegan date and walnut loaf and it came out within 5 mins despite the cafe being really busy! They also had vegan butter for the loaf. Both were really tasty! I would have liked a vegan savoury cabinet item but didn’t look like there were any. The staff were knowledgeable when I asked if the hot choc powder was dairy free as they knew the answer straight away without having to check. They did serve marshmallows on the side of the hot choc which I don’t think were vegan but I didn’t specifically say I was.

Great coffee and cake - Edit
Came here on our first morning in Christchurch and had a delicious, hot and strong oat flat white. I had the vegan date and walnut loaf- delicious toasted and staff were proactive about asking if I wanted vegan spread for it instead of butter. Looked like some tasty veg/vegan options on the food menu. The space is really cool and airy with lots of plants and the staff were lovely! Unfortunately had to pay more for non-dairy milk but that does seem to be pretty 'normal' (I use inverted commas because I do not think humans drinking cow milk is normal but hey ho) here in Aotearoa. Anyway! Unknown Chapter definitely worth a visit for a coffee, cake, or a brunch if you are in Chch ✨

Great food and interior - Edit
Very beautifully designed contemporary place with lots of seating and green plants. I appreciated the early opening hours, since I had to catch my 8 am bus on a Sunday, and few places are open before 8! My tofu scramble was quick, and delicious and the portion was huge and filled me up for most of the day. I missed table service though - you have to pick up the menu yourself and order at the counter.
