Amazing brunch albeit limited veggie options

Very large and popular restaurant, especially for brunch!

Ordered the Sweet Potato Shakshuka (vegetarian) which was a tasty and creative twist on the traditional shakshuka dish. My partner ordered the buttermilk pancakes (vegetarian) that were perfectly fluffy and topped with a blueberry lavender sauce.

Will definitely be going back again next time I I’m in DC!

Tasty!

Such great options here. We got the Brussels sprouts side dish, the sweet potato curry, and the bonsai broccoli. The curry was for sure our favorite, but all delicious. The vibe is so cute and the staff was all super friendly.

Must try in Shaw District

We were here one year ago and ate here our first night in DC. I had such great memories of the food, ambience, and wait staff, that we had to go again on our first night this trip. I had the stir fried okra snd broccolini again, and it was just as amazing as last year. Charred, savory, umami — incredible. My husband had the kale nachos (also great), and the mango passion sorbet was delicious snd refreshing. I also recommend the ancho spicy margarita. I love this place and will go back.

Pros: Several vegan options, Fun place to hand out, Lots of options for tasting/sharing

Nice Place w/Limited Vegan Options

Cool vibe, but brunch options are limited and/or require modifications. I ordered the Hot Apple Cider, Avocado Toast, and Hash Brown Patty sides. Tasty, but I was hungry by the early afternoon.

Major points for not requiring reservations to sit outside which was awesome! Refreshing!

Pros: Nice Establishment Near Convention Center in DC, Vegan Labels on Menu (But Limited)

Cons: Not All Vegan, Requires Reservations for Indoor Seating

Nice place to meet omnis for brunch

Nice atmosphere and convenient location to Mount Vernon/Convention Center metro. Only a few vegan options but food I tried was excellent and server was knowledgeable about offerings and could offer advice. Oatmilk available for coffee.

Vegan options but couldn’t eat mine

I went with a group where I was the only vegan. The menu clearly denotes vegan options which is always nice. There are a few to choose from. Since I don’t like to eat chickpeas (I have an intolerance, not allergy), I opted for the mushroom spring rolls and Brussels sprouts. I couldn’t even eat one spring roll. It tasted off (might’ve been the dip they served for it), and I am someone who considers mushrooms their own food group. The Brussels sprouts tasted better but seemed like they were sitting in a pool of grease. Many places make fried sprouts that I’m fine with, but here the level of oil was unappetizing. Our server was also not attentive (it wasn’t busy). DC has many other options for a group with varied dietary needs, so I don’t plan on returning.

Nothing special

While it's great that this place does have a couple of vegan options, their menu is predominantly meat based, and their vegan options all have non vegan add ones recommended (add egg, meat protein, etc.) The falafel and picked onion dish was the only thing I could get during brunch time that was vegan, and it wasn't very good. I found their menu to be pretty basic. Would try them again, but I'm not hurrying back. One positive note was that they did have some tasty cocktails and the service was fine.

Cons: Basic, Few options

One-of-a-kind diner, like the name says

We were in DC for only one day but made a point of checking out this place. It is a “keeper” on our list of favorite places. We started with the cauliflower with pickled onions that came with a sauce that added just enough heat. Then, my Daniel had the curry, while I had the chili. Both were amazing! The large portions made it impossible for us to contemplate dessert. We can’t wait to go back.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Creative combinations , Nice ambiance
