Authentic and Vegan Friendly!!!

There aren’t many authentic Chinese cuisine that are vegan friendly out there, and this food cart being VEGETARIAN gets us most of the way there!! Super easy to identify which plates are inherently vegan. In fact, I think most of the menu is vegan! I’ll be returning many times in the future. Cannot recommend them enough!!!! I’ll have to get a new menu photo, I wasn’t planning on writing a review so I didn’t take a good one. But look at that variety!!!

The best!

Amazing delicious food and more choices than I’ve seen anywhere for vegan food. The potstickers were to die for! We also had curry tofu and vegetables and king pao mushrooms. Large portions too, enough to take home for another meal.

Quintessential

When I go to a food stand for Chinese takeout, I expect to receive generous portions of deliciousness served at lightning speed by no-frills Chinese “aunties/uncles” (bonus if they speak Cantonese). I am pleased to say that Uncle Tsang’s has delivered on that expectation each and every time I’ve visited.

Pros: Generous portions = 2 meals in one, Extensive menu with good variety, Cantonese-owned

Fantastic, accommodating and veggie-centric

This is fantastic and I am definitely returning soon. They accommodated my food sensitivity by making a new batch of something they typically have pre-made. That is above and beyond, I'm grateful. The potstickers were phat and flavorful, and comments from the table were the best dumplings they ever had. We tried sesame tofu which was very good and Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts!! Often reviews of places will say how traditional dishes need to be more veg-centric, I thought this was a wonderful way to make veggies the center of the meal. amazing really. I will try their faux stuff at some point but I was eager to try brussels, a fave.
Kind people, good value, hot and quick. What more could you ask for all in all.

Pros: veggie centric, accommodating, kind , value, quick, fresh

Portions So Big You'll Cry Uncle

The menu has so many choices that it's hard to decide. I appreciate they note which dishes are spicy. I ordered the teriyaki beef with noodles. Good ratio of beef to noodles, but I would have preferred more broccoli. It's enough food for two meals.

Pros: lots of choices, big portions, outdoor seating

Cons: not all vegan

My all around favorite place to eat!

Uncle Tsang's offers a wide selection of tasty options, good portions at reasonable prices. The owners are very friendly and I have followed them around town for years as the cart has changed locations. It is now in a convenient location in the pleasant Sellwood neighborhood.

While eating at the food cart pod is a great option, I am fond of taking my food and sitting in the park a few blocks away, which has riverside spots and great views of downtown Portland from the bluffs above Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge.

Pros: Almost entirely Vegan menu, reasonable prices.

It must have been an off day.

I had the potstickers (pretty good) and Hong Kong noodles… which were absolutely terrible. The noodles were just a glob, some of them were hardened, and it was covered in a bland brown sauce with some vegetables. I ate a few of the vegetables and threw out the rest. I was the only customer and it took about 15 minutes… Very disappointing.

Great food

It’a got actual flavor, not just sugary sour syrup on food. Kind of greasy, but the rice sopped it all up. Great lunch

Vegetarian/Vegan Chinese Yum!

Even though I can’t eat gluten anymore, it still brings me joy to see imitation meat (wheat gluten) on a menu. When I lived in Minneapolis, nearly every Asian restaurant had mock duck on the menu. I miss it so! Stoked to find this gem. And the owners are sweethearts.

Love this place

We eat there as often as possible. The food is outstanding. Wish the owners of the pod would turn on the “fire” pit.

Pros: Very tasty , Friendly service , Reasonably priced

Cons: The pod of trucks need to get some heat installed

Friendly Operators and Great Food

My wife and I really enjoyed the potstickers and orange imitation beef. The hot and sour soup was also on point (one order is more than enough for two diners). Some of the best Chinese food I’ve had.

Pros: Plenty to choose from, reasonable prices, all vegetarian menu

Delicous vegetarian Chinese food

This is the best vegetarian/vegan Chinese food in the city. The pot stickers and curry pastries are crispy and flavorful. They are also handmade. The tofu tomato soup (egg optional) is a savory delight. If you like sweet and sour flavors try the Sesame tofu. If you like spicy food, the Singaporean fried noodles will hit the spot. Their homemade hot sauce is highly recommended. The regular version is pretty spicy, the "hot" version is for experienced chilli heads only.

Pros: Totally meat free

Get the green onion pancake

I needed a quick snack so all I tried here was the turmeric and black pepper scallion pancake. This was the perfect afternoon snack -- really hit the spot; and if it's any indication of the rest of the menu, this place is good! I look forward to trying more items from here next time I visit Portland.

Pros: Delicious

Cons: A little bit slow

You Should Eat Here

This food cart moved from St Johns and is now at Piknik Park on Tacoma in Sellwood. I make the trek here from N Portland almost every weekend. The mock beef is delicious, especially in the orange "beef" dish. Also tried the Mongolian "beef" which was very spicy. If you can't tolerate super spicy food you may want to ask the cook to tone it back a bit. The pot sticker app was hardy and could have been a meal in itself. I came at a pretty early hour of the evening so had my meal in 15 minutes, but the folks coming after me had a 40 minute wait, so calling it in might be a better strategy. They seem pretty busy and I hope business remains good for them.

Vegan Options!

I visited Uncle Tsang's Kitchen yesterday after noticing their menu advertised vegan options. After a quick & helpful chat with the chef/owner, I placed an order for the Kung Pao Tofu ($7) & the Spicy Garlic Eggplant ($7). I appreciate the knowledge that all dishes prepared without meat are vegan, since they use a separate sauce to cook all vegetable dishes with, & I also appreciated the swift service (my food was ready in less than ten minutes although they had other orders) & the quantity for the price (my two entrees, including a large container of rice, & tip, came to little over $16 for three buffet-like plates of food). Chinese was my favorite cuisine growing up, & although I can certainly say I've had better vegan Chinese, I appreciate a non-vegetarian/vegan Chinese establishment looking to provide vegan options. I look forward to returning & trying more of their made-to-order meals.

Tasty Chinese all-veg cart

Tasty, reasonably priced Chinese food. The food manages to be both decadent and healthy and prices are reasonable. I came to try them specifically because I saw that the owner changed to a vegetarian restaurant after his own change to a veg diet. I guess a lot of the previous fans were really meat lovers and business dropped off some. If you like Chinese food come out and support this sweet family that are living their values! :)

Pros: tasty food, reasonably priced , lots of veggies

Tasty and inexpensive Chinese vegetarian food

The owner of this very popular and well-reviewed food cart personally went vegetarian earlier this year and in June 2017 decided that he would thereafter serve only vegetarian cuisine at his business. Although almost all his Yelp and Google reviews were 5 stars, sadly business fell off quite steeply after his switch to an exclusively vegetarian menu. As someone who lived in Hong Kong for 4 years, I can testify that his food is quite authentic and very tasty with quite an extensive menu of appetizers, mains, and soups. I found nothing that I didn't like and am eager to go back and try other items. Moreover, portions are generous and prices are low. Finally, the owners are quite friendly people and I'm pulling for an upturn in their business. I don't think you can go wrong at Uncle Tsang's if you enjoy Chinese food.

Pros: Inexpensive, , Tasty, generous portions, Friendly proprietor

Cons: Seating is in common with other food carts., Outdoor seating but with an awning
