Uncle Q dunking on the competition 💪🏼

While slightly off the beaten track, Uncle Q’s is worth finding. The restaurant is small but well-lit, clean and tastefully appointed. The menu is broad without being overwhelming, with a great selection of salads, appetisers, mains and desserts. I ordered the fig salad, hummus and risotto… together with a passion fruit soda… and watched the servers’ expressions morph from concern that I had over-ordered to fascination and ultimately fear as I ate every last morsel on my plates then and started banging my silverware on the table demanding dessert. It was all great.

Oh I know exactly how it is at Uncle Q’s!!!! Same experience. You start of gentle with something like of their delish pops and next you know you’re overturning tables in ecstasy. At least that is my experience.

Exceptionally delicious!

I think I’ve found my new favourite vegan restaurant. The two dishes I tried there were exceptionally good! I probably could have shared, as I ordered just a little too much for me to eat. But it was soooo good I had to eat every last bite. The flavours were top notch. I will definitely be back!!

Tasty bowl & delicious mocktail

Was very happy to stumble upon UncleQ in search of vegan dinner on a rainy evening. The prices are high end for Taiwan, both the Buddha Bowl with Kimchi was warm, original and delicious.

Pros: Unusual taste combinations , Yummy (mock) mojito, Fast, friendly service

Cons: Pricey for Taipei, not for any other major city

Nice Vegan Western style restaurant.

Tried their smoky vegan quinoa and chickpea burger on i think a charcoal bun..very tasty nice side salad and fries(though could have been more fries). Also tried the Spice Pumpkin mont blanc dessert, not bad. Moderate price for a vegan restaurant. Worth a visit.

Pricey with meh burgers

Beware of the additional 10% service fee they slap on top!

Got the fried mushroom appetizer (250 nt) - lightly breaded, quite tasty.
Followed by the quinoa-chickpea burger (350 nt). I figured with this price, I'm in for a treat, but nope. The burger's blandness was only outdone by the bad aftertaste of the 'cheese'.. classic cheap coconut oil cheese.
The burger had no sauce on it, which made it also quite dry.

It came with 12 fries (why not more??) that were very nicely seasoned and a confusing sweet side salad, like some kind of weird dessert.
For the size and the price (gimme a break with the robbery they call this service fee) it wasn't worth the trip across town.

Top of my list

Western fusion, and delicious. Craving food from back home (California) I ventured to Uncle Q's. Ordered a smokey Quinoi and Chick Pea burger along with a Masala Chai. The burger was falafel-inspired I'd say. It had to be the best veggie burger I've ever had. (And I've had many!) Masla Chai was a bit on the bland side, but everything else made up for it.

Tasty and filling!

Came here and had a very filling meal. The shrimp appetizer was very nicely fried with tasty walnuts. The burger was SUPER FILLING and I enjoyed it a lot. Large menu with lots of options to try. Next time I might just eat the burger alone haha. A little expensive but lots of food.

Tasty Western Style Food (one star minus for price)

Update 2023/04/15:
Reopened with new interior and menu (still in a test phase and likely to change again). Pizzas and burger are no longer part of the menu, the majority of choices are pasta, risotto and bowls. Pricing still similar, portion size could still be a little bit bigger (if you only want mains), but in our case two mains and two appetizers were plenty for the two of us. Taste-wise: pretty good, I would recommend the tempeh bowl and the cauliflower "wings".

Customers can choose between having everything served with or without garlic, onion etc. (純素)
----------------------
The menu covers most standard Western food, such as burger, pizza, risotto. The starter section is pretty nice as it includes vegan versions of classic American starters, such as buffalo cauliflower (instead of wings).

So far we have been here two times and had burgers with the black bean and soy bean patties and different sauces (BBQ and guacamole - the latter seems to have a bit kiwi in it, which was an interesting flavor) and the grilled zucchini with garlic green bean puree which I can recommend.

Taste was excellent, but I wish the portions would be slightly bigger, or at least have more fries that come with the burger, considering that the menu is slightly pricy.

Small anecdote: After my first visit, I was just standing outside the door to check google maps, the owner, Quincy Davis, came out for a quick chat, asking if everything was alright with the food etc. He seems like a nice and down-to-earth guy. I will def be back from time to time to try the other starters, too.

Very nice all-vegan restaurant

Made reservations for 1:30pm and arrived a bit early, but the server was very willing to seat us early. The restaurant capacity is middle sized, not too big and not tiny, which gave it a nice atmosphere. The caramel grapefruit salad I had was delicious, sweet and sour and very tasty (although I wish it had more walnuts). My partner ordered the chickpea burger (black bean had sold out already) on focaccia (only choice) with BBQ sauce(tasty). I think the combination of thick focaccia bread with a slightly dry chickpea burger meant more sauce was needed on the burger to keep it from being a very dry mouth experience. It came with fries (good) and a small chia pudding (really nice) and some pickled turnips (really, really good, this should be it's own dish or put it on the burger).
They didn't have any dessert available that day, which was too bad. But there is a vegan ice cream place not too far away we went to after, so that worked out ok.

Looking forward to my next visit

The satay Brussel sprouts are delicious; I 2ish this was a part of a vegan pad thai with tofu ribbons, instead of eggs. The salad dressing has the tiniest hint of smoke, which was delightful. The meatballs are tasty; I wish they were an appetizer. Save room for dessert. Super fluffing creamy chocolate cake!

Good food, but weird opening times

Had to reduce a star, because on my 16 year veganniversary, I went for lunch, but they told me the kitchen closed one hour before their break time. I was completely shocked. Heard of closing the kitchen before closing for the night, but not for the midday break. Isn't the point of taking the break to close the kitchen for a few hours? Anyway, this policy wasn't posted the first time I went and I was just so disappointed on my first visit. Maybe because I was looking forward to it on my veganniversary. Anyway, I did give it another try, on a date, with my now GF.😄Our first date. This time, they did have this policy posted. Anyway, the food was good. I had the shell pasta dish and my GF had a different pasta dish. Both were good and the desserts look yummy too, but I haven't tried them yet. Will have to give it another go, now that I'm back in TW. I will certainly try more of the menu.

Pros: Pasta dishes, all vegan, cakes

Cons: pricey, weird opening hours policy

I really like this place!

Food is great especially the veggie balls, it’s a must - so yum! Staff is very accommodating, I asked to replace the buns with lettuce for the burger and I got that 😊

Not bad but not amazing

Food was pretty good. Staff was very nice. Taste was good. But I guess I was expecting a bit more after reading so many good reviews and friends talking. Again, not bad but I’m not going to hurry up and go back. Decent prices.

Pros: English menu , Friendly staff

Pure vegan

We were a bit tired of Asian food, wanted to eat some “western” vegan and fortuitously stumbled upon uncle Qs. The vegan meatballs are quite tasty. We didn’t enjoy the fried food as much but it’s good quality. Had a black tea cake for dessert and it was delicious.

Pros: All vegan, Extensive menu, Dessert

Cons: Relatively pricey (vs local eats)

High quality, beautifully presented food despite a slightly higher price-tag

Uncle Q is a vegan restaurant opened by professional basketball player Quincy Davis (Say hi to him if you see him in the restaurant. He’s very nice, and tall).

On to the food, the menu has burgers, pizzas, pasta and more. The cake selection changes daily. The price is a bit higher than other places, but the quality and presentation of food are impressive.

The mushroom risotto with an assortment of mushroom prepared in different ways, and the fried eggplant with tomato salsa and cheese on top are both delicious.

Definitely give this restaurant a visit if you are in Taipei. The price is a bit higher than other places, but the high quality food is worth it

Pros: All vegan , Beautiful and delicious food , Friendly service and welcoming ambience

Cons: A bit expensive but great quality

Um .. wow . Must visit

At the time of writing there is not a single other review of this restaurant. Not sure why as it was a little gem ! A little upper class venue down a relatively quiet side street, owned by a professional former American basketballer who was actually there when I was. The options are great and the food quality is amazing.
Have some cheesecake too!

Pros: Burgers and fries were a highlight ! , Super friendly and accommodating staff

Cons: A little language barrier
