Serves meat, vegan options available. Indian street food style restaurant with a number of marked vegan items on the menu. Has dhal, chickpeas, pakoras, and a potato fritter burger to name a few. The menu is accessible and the street food atmosphere encourages ordering several of the dishes which come in smaller portions in separate pans and bowls. Has another branch in Glasgow. Open Mon-Sun 12:00-22:30.

Tasty North Indian food - Edit
I was in Edinburgh on business & popped into Tuk Tuk for a quick dinner. It's a nice little place - nowhere fancy but relaxed & friendly. They serve small plates of North Indian food. You'll need at least 2 or 3 dishes each to fill up, but prices are fair so you can eat well for £20 or less.
Read moreIf you are vegan, there are a couple of 'road side plates' and three 'street curries' to choose from. The tandoori roti and pilau rice are also vegan. There are a number of additional vegetarian dishes too.
I tried the golgappa - a popular street snack in Mumbai & beyond - and they were very good. The aubergine & potato curry was also very tasty. I've travelled a lot in India & would say both were pretty authentic. It was also nice to be able to get Indian fizzy drinks like Limca and Thumbs Up which you don't often see in the UK. If you want alcohol, it is bring your own.
Pros: Authentic & tasty food, Relaxed vibe, Fair prices
Cons: Shame that there aren't more vegan choices, No alcohol licence, but you can BYOB

Very nice, friendly place and delicious food! - Edit
I loved that there were several vegan options and all so clearly marked. Had the spinach tofu and the aubergine curry with rice and tandoori roti, and a delicious mango juice. Very friendly, helpful staff as well.

Nice Lunch - Edit
Food was nice, we had the vegan options, the Chana masala stood out from the rest with delicious flavours! Not enough choice for a dinner but lunch was lovely.

Tuk tuk - Edit
Selection of vegan choices, food is served quickly. I had to wait a bit before I got seated or even acknowledged, making me wonder if I misunderstood how seating works, but it was quite busy.

Good food - Edit
We shared some pakoras and potato in tamarind, then I got a chana masala with rice and plain roti. The roti didn’t feel super fresh and the chana masala was just fine. The main thing I would say though is that the food didn’t feel very oily which is good! The staff are super lovely. Still a good option in Edi :))

Clear vegan menu - Edit
3 main dishes are clearly marked as vegan on deliveroo: Aloo Gobi Matar, Channa Masala, Baby Aubergine and Potato, and all are under £6 (plus rice or roti) which is pretty cheap for Edinburgh!
Read moreThis place must have upped its games since the older reviews on here because it was a very tasty meal and not oily at all.
Nice to have roti as an option too and there was a tasty looking vegan dessert that I'll have to try another time.

Good but a bit pricey - Edit
They offer a lunch special which consists of two mains, a starter and a side and costs 12 pounds - the portion size is a bit strange because it is too large for one and a little small for two people. (Also 12 pounds for lunch per person would seem a lot.) In the evening even a little more expensive - small dishes cost between 4 and 6 pounds, sides between 2 and 3.
Read moreThe dishes taste good, but not good enough for the price asked.
Pros: Many vegan options
Cons: Weird lunch size and pricing, a little pricey

Great Golgappas! - Edit
Tried 3/5 vegan dishes and they were mostly good. I would have been very happy to have just eaten more of the Golgappas instead of anything else. The dishes had great flavours, but there are no spicy vegan options and the greasy flat bread was a shame. Worth a visit but not that much choice. It’s BYO beer /wine FYI.
Read morePros: Golgappa’s are very tasty , Friendly staff and good atmosphere , Good Flavours
Cons: Greasy fried flat breads (more than necessary) , Limited vegan choice

One of my favourite spots - Edit
I’ve been coming here since I moved to edinburgh a few years ago, when I was still eating meat, and have been since becoming vegetarian. Both experiences have been great - atmosphere is laid back so don’t expect the most pandering of staff but the food is full of flavour and very hearty. It’s not the lightest of food though!

really bad... - Edit
The only positive things I have to say that SOME of their staff is really kind and the energy of some of the other people eating in the restaurant was really fun, probably just because they were drunk. The food was dry, really lacking in flavour and SMALL portions. I would never recommend this place, I love Indian food so much but please go to annakut or even kalpna! Those places are cheaper, bigger portions and I guarantee you will have a better experience and have more vegan options!

average indian food - Edit
really oily food and very little to shout about. there are better places nearby. the starter was so oily and you could tell they were using low quality gram flour. limited choice with and emphasis on vegetarian rather than vegan.
