Favourite restaurant in Vienna

I LOVE this place. Creative and diverse options, changing menus and always very tasty. Great sitting outside. Recommended without hesitation, especially the vegan schnitzel and the omelette for breakfast.
Staff working here is also very kind.
Do yourself a favour and eat here.

Pros: Creative menu, Great taste, Kind staff

Cons: That I cant come everyday. :-)

Austrian food made vegan

Great options on the menu. You can choose between more fancy options (fois gras, oysters,..) and the good old classics like Wiener Schnitzel. We started with the cheese platter which was a bit disappointing to be honest. The bread was very greasy, no chutney, no nuts,... just not how I pictured it. The pumpkin dish was really good, especially the sauce was super tasty. Also the Backhendl-Salat was delicious. For dessert we had a Sachertorte which was a bit dry😒All in all, a good experience.

Pros: Good options, Friendly and fast service, Seasonal specials

Cons: Rather expensive, Smell - clothes are stinky afterwards

Mixed feelings

I liked, how many options there are. But the portion sizes are rather small and the dishes could also be more seasoned. Another disadvantage is that the restaurant is not barrier-free. Therefor the staff was nice and helpful.

Pros: Fully vegan, Large and creative menu with some seasonal dishes

Cons: Not barrier-free, Small portion sizes, Some spice missing

Incredibly good

We found the restaurant by accident and had a great time there! Would recommend reservations on the weekend. We had quite a lot and every bit was delightful and the drinks perfect as well.
We had:
Tartar (no photo)
Kaspressknödelsuppe
Backhendlsalat
Umami
Pumpkin Pie
Topfenknödel

Excellent food, appalling service

After reading the very positive reviews, I decided to visit this restaurant for lunch on a Saturday with a party of 4, for a family celebration.
After sitting at our reserved table, we received a paper menu that included the November specials. Some of us chose items from the November menus, just to be told that they were no longer available and despite being Dec 9th, no December specials existed.
After choosing new dishes, we were pleasantly surprised that the food arrived pretty quickly and it was delicious – nothing to say about that, the kitchen works very well.
But then we had the “crazy” idea to ask for a bottle of wine and our waiter just disappeared. About 15 minutes later, when we were already finished our main course, he appeared again but without our wine. When one of us stood up and asked him about it (because he didn’t even come to us), he said that the wine we wanted was no longer available, so we cancelled our wine order and we asked him for 2 desserts (panna cotta and tiramisu) instead. He disappeared again for a few minutes, then reappeared to help his colleague to change the beer barrel, totally ignoring us. The whole operation took them another 15 minutes, during which we decided to go for a dessert somewhere else and cancelled the dessert order, too. Considering the prices, the restaurant lost about €50 just from our table, and this because the waiters were totally aloof and not interested. The restaurant was only half full, the kitchen was preparing dishes very quickly but they were just piling up on the counter. I very rarely write a negative review on vegan places, but I feel that the owner needs to get a grip on service, as not many people will give the place a second chance if the first one is so bad.

Pros: The food is delicious, The kitchen is very well organised

Cons: The service is very slow and disorganised

Delicious and fair prices

The food there is really great every time.
The prices are fair in my opinion.
Last time I had the „spaghetti carbonara“ and I loved it.
I highly recommend going there.

Pros: Taste, Easy to book a table, Service

Everything was amazing !

We had dinner here two nights ago - service was great - and food was fantastic. Ordered the schnitzel, meatballs and carbonara and some deserts - very well developed flavors - beautifully presented and not a long wait. Super tasty. We’ll be back : )

Pros: Welcoming service , Choices of food , Good tastiness

Sehr lecker

A taste of Austria. Typical Austrian vegan cuisine that captivates and impresses with rich flavors and traditional dishes revised in a plant-based key.

Very good both the Jause and the knodl and also the Wienerschnitzel

Very recommend!

Love it 😍

Love eating at Tisch! It’s an all vegan place that takes social responsibility seriously (you can pay for others that are not as well off).
Food wise, I’m a big fan of their “chicken of the woods” nuggets (seasonal, made from a particular mushroom) and the accompanying cocktail sauce - sooo delicious! Also, the Schnitzel and the salmon are awesome and the red beet tartare with an “egg” yolk (made from a yellow cocktail tomato) is great!

One of my favorite restaurants in Vienna!

Such a great restaurants! I love that they switch up their menu quite often and every time you can find new delicious meals on there. It always tastes really fresh and homemade. The quality of the food seems just great! Would really recommend to try this restaurant out. The only downside is that the portions could be a bit bigger.

Very delicious food and friendly staff

We went there without expectations but we will definitely go again. We hat the Blinis as a starter and they were very good. Than we had the burger and the Wiener Schnitzel as the main. We are both vegan for a few years but have never eaten that authentic mushroom or seitan as meat alternatives. It was amazing. As a dessert we had a pumpkin spice cake which was a great finish of a very good meal.

If I lived nearby I would go here daily

Good locarion, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, but most of all amazing food. There are some traditional Austrian dishes, but also more experimental things. Everything we tried (Wiener schnitzel, a dish called "Umami", and the Wiener eiskaffee) was great. Much better than other vegan restaurants with traditional Austrian food we tried (i.e. Velani).

Pros: Amazing food, Nice staff and atmosphere

Cons: A bit slow to take orders, pay, etc.

Underwhelming

I went here with really high expectations, but unfortunately they were not met.
The menu looked wonderful and there were plenty of things that caught the eye and as this a special occasion I decided to go all out.
To start, I ordered the charcuterie board and the cheese plate. On paper they both promised a lot, but in reality they failed to deliver as they were poor imitations of what they were trying to be. The best element of either was the seitan kebab.
For the main course I ordered the schnitzel which is the only things that stopped this review from being two stars. It was quite the tasty dish, well cooked and fresh. The accompanying potato salad was packed with garlic and it was a winning combo.
Dessert is where proceeding once again dropped off. While the pumpkin pie was satisfactory (the crust was a little dry), the two scoops of ice cream (the cornflakes and the black sesame) were meagre in size, lacking in real flavour and very icy, certainly not worth the extortionate price they were.
Overall, I wouldn’t look to return, not good enough for the prices charged, especially given the competition in the city.

dear keep_it_tdy

sorry to hear you didn't find our service and dishes to your satisfaction. We are glad to hear you liked our homemade Seitan bacon as well as our Potatosalad and Schnitzel.

Our icecream scooper is the usual size in Vienna, making about 70-75 gramm per scoop. The icecream sorts are also loved by many of our customers, and we get especially for the black sesame and cornflakes but also for the other types, very positive feedback from our regular customers as well as tourists. Indeed on holidays we encountered icecream stands where they scoop 150-180 g per scoop, so internationally there is a wide range apparently of what is considered as a "normal" size.

The cheese platter and some of the products on our cold cuts platter typically contains various vegan cheeses and meat cutlets from small manifacturers from various parts of Europe. We sample regularly new producers, have a camembert made from cauliflower, blue cheese with the typical roquefort fermentation cultures and so on. We try to give our visitors the opportunity to sample whats available on the market, what's new, coming from sustainable productions, to show that things are possible vegan too. Of course we cannot provide better than what the market can do - besides not taking products shipping from overseas with a high CO2 footprint. We are always happy and open for recommendations when something new comes to the market, a manufacturer updates their sustainability, their taste or what they produce, in the field of vegan cheeses and meats, so don't hesitate to recommend alternatives we should instead introduce or add on our selection!

We are hoping to welcome you back and convince you with our quality another time! feel free to drop us a line per Email to info@tisch.wien for a voucher to ensure you are invited for another scoop of icecream, or ask to taste the sortiment a small tryout, to pick something that fits your taste, as we make a large selection of icecream types, and tastes largely differ of course.

Good vegan restaurant

Very good vegan restaurant! I tried the dumpling soup which was great. I also tried the schnitzel and the carbonara. The schnitzel was AMAZING (but pricy). The carbonara was all right but I would try something else next time!

Pros: Vegan schnitzel, Great service, Cute outdoor space

Cons: Pricy

Mittagessen

Great service, good vegan meal

The service was stupendous!
It was nice to find an all vegan restaurant where we could eat anything we wanted.
Since I have a food allergies, it is valuable for me to be able to ask questions. They could not have been more helpful.
I had the cream of asparagus soup and the umami dish. My husband ordered a cheesy dumpling soup and a caesar salad.
Both soups were very good. The caesar salad was a green salad with a very delicious creamy dressing that was well mixed into the mixed greens.
The umami dish consisted of mostly mashed potatoes, with some brown gravy, one shitake mushroom, some carrot slices, two beet slices, a few slices of yellow squash, and a couple of slices of something that we think might have been a parsnip. It was stopped by three vegan meatballs. I ordered the gluten-free version because that one does not contain yeast. The meatballs tasted a little doughy, and they had a sweet smoky flavor.
It might have been nice to have a little more gravy, but that is a personal preference. It was a lot of mashed potatoes. It was good.
