Anyways... - Edit
It took us a while to pinpoint how to describe Third Kingdom. What we came up with, about an hour into the discussion, was that this is an overpriced appetizer restaurant with great tasting, all mushroom dishes. Not dishes featuring mushrooms, but mushrooms with a light sprinkle of other ingredients. Mushrooms. So many mushrooms.
Read moreIf you're considering dining here, do it. Mushrooms. It's a great experience that you won't repeat. Once you're done and you're wondering where to get an actual dinner that isn't just mushrooms, I would suggest Double Zero, about a 5 minute walk away. Mushrooms. Mushrooms.
So many mushrooms.

Outstanding mushroom restaurant - Edit
Very creative mushroom dishes. Outstanding sauces and combinations. Ramen and lobster were probably my favorites. But really everything was exceptional

A unique meal - Edit
I was so excited to come here because I love the concept. Everything we had was delicious although some things were a bit too salty. Main complaint is that the dishes are designed for sharing but the ramen was not at all shareable (we weren’t even given our own bowls - I guess we were supposed to eat out of the same one??). The king royal mushroom is the instagrammable, beautifully presented dish. Unfortunately that one was chewy and hard to cut and had the least mushroom flavour of all the dishes. The dessert was great. I would go back to try more but it was very expensive and didn’t wow me like other restaurants in the city.

Cons: Overpriced, Very dark and noisy

Great way to explore different mushrooms - Edit
I really enjoyed the dining experience here. The dishes are on the smaller side so between 3 of us we ordered 6 plates but the dessert. We might have ordered too much though, I think 4-5 plates and a dessert would have been enough. Each dish was really unique. The Lion’s mane dumplings were my favorite

Creative and fun and delicious - Edit
This place is great ambience, food and service. We had morel, maitake, enoki salad and lions mane dumplings. Dumplings were favorite. Wish we got the dessert it looked so good in person. Also every table seemed to get the ravioli and love it.

So so delicious! - Edit
This was one of my favorite meals in a long time! Amazing what they do with mushrooms here. It is pricy for sure and plates are small (they recommend at least 2 or 3 per person) but very worth it for a special occasion!

Now permanent! Mmmushrooms! - Edit
I booked, thinking that I was glad to get a date before (I had been led to believe) the pop-up would be closing... I'm so glad it is not!
Read moreThe moody room lent character, the quirky mushroom decor added fun...
A wonderful journey in mushrooms! All was ab fab and I particularly enjoyed the candied shitake and porcini ice cream with the lava cake (I would rarely ever order ice cream/toffee/caramel/treacle desserts - all too sweet, I find). Curiously creative, the flavour pairing of choc and mushroommm... - who knew!
(Yes, I admit: I'm a fan of pineapple on pizza...a fan of sweet with savoury!)
The friendly staff explained that the restaurant was no longer a pop up, and would not be closing down.
Gentle reminder: please check that your guests like mushrooms.
(It didn't seem fun for the guest who openly didn't like mushrooms, as we noticed in the group on the next table celebrating a birthday...)
Pros: Creative, Gastronomic, Unique

Mushrooms galore - Edit
It was good! But there was almost too much creativity with the mushrooms. I liked the dumplings and the ramen… but the porcini ice cream was a bit too savory.

Excellent and Unsual - Edit
Attended their Valentine's Day Dinner (5 courses + dessert) and was VERY impressed by the variety and the tastiness of each dish. In addition to the actual food, the service as attentive (and on a busy night) the price was very reasonable for the quality of the dining experience. They have small but varied wine and cocktail list, as well as non-alc beverages.

Go to this mushroom pop up while you still can! We were a group of 4 friends who like to share, 2 vegan 2 plant-forward omnivores we ordered one of everything.
Read moreThe first 2 plates were lion's mane dumplings and the beer battered oyster mushrooms they both were 'as expected' - they were very good but as you'd imagine tempura mushroom & dumplings would taste.
Things got exciting when the beech and hen of the woods plates came out. Beech was creamy & cauliflower 'cheesy' and hen of the woods with celery root puree was sublime!
Next the ravioli and the morel with curry grits, 2 of the more Instagramable dishes, just beautiful, the raviol texture was almost like an empanada due to a slightly crunchy bottom but still yummy, the curry grits were so good!! And the little balsamic pearls were wild, just bursting with sweet, tangy flavor.
Then came my favorite dish, the silver dollar with mushroom gratin and the final 2 entrees: the blue oyster with celery & fennel porcini puree was excellent and reminded me of my Mom's mushroom gravy. The finale of baby trumpet with mole de pipian was good, the strong flavor wasn't my favorite but my friends loved it, the mushroom looked surprisingly like salmon fillet.
Leave room for this! It was so unusual, tortellinis were filled with chocolate truffle sauce garnished with yummy little candied mushrooms!
The space is small 1 table in the window that seats 5, the rest is bar seating on tall bar stools.
2/7/24 Excited to be back with the mushroom menu permanent, now called Third Kingdom and swapped spaces to be the much bigger venue with Proletariat bar in the small & Beer space.
I'll keep it short and sweet this time, everything was amazing, some new menu items others were carried over, the curry grits with balsamic pearls still outstanding and the mole still not my favorite, definitely get the enoki starter and whatever the special foraged mushroom dish is. I went with a Flexitarian and an Omnivore and they both said it was one of the best meals they've ever had. We loved the wine we ordered and the service was impeccable! I am going back in 2 weeks with more friends!

i think in order to get the full experience u rly need to try most of the dishes if not all of them. she and i both got the thai coconut drink and it was so refreshing and natural. we both got refills when we finished them lol. we started w the lions main dumplings and they werent rly my thing [ a bit too smoky and tough when i like my dumplings delicate and soft lol ] but my friend rly loved them. then we got the beech dish and we totally ate the entire thing. i was shocked it was all mushroom and tht there were no noodles. it was delicious but very heavy. we both felt like we were nine months pregnant and ready to deliver by the time we were done w this one lol. the hen of the woods was much lighter in comparison and i also wasnt a major fan but i did rly like the celery root puree w the pickled hon shimeji. it was so refreshing after the rich and cheesy beech dish. then the lobster was mainly for my friend bcs i dont like curry v much but i still had a taste. not my thing but i can see how ppl wld like it. my friend liked it but shes more of a green curry girl and not a big fan of yellow curries. we finally had the blue oyster and it was definitely the best. i loved everything ab it im totally reminiscing on the taste rn. then the dessert was actually a bit of a let down surprisingly. we were super excited bcs it was this porcini ice cream tht was v interesting and i liked it but it was such a small element on the plate tht i wished there was less of everything else and more of it. there was this chocolate lava cake tht felt completely irrelevant bcs this restaurant revolves arnd mushrooms. it felt strange tht the star of the dessert was this decadent chocolate cake [ which was rly good to b clear ] tht had nothing to do w mushrooms. there were also these candied shiitake mushrooms tht were rock hard lol. my friend and i were laughing ab how it felt like we were gonna break a tooth on one ... and then the blueberry sauce was yet another variable tht didnt make sense. idk lol. overall i wished they had highlighted the ice cream bcs it was the most interesting and inventive. all in all , it was a delicious meal w v few flaws. thank u so much for the delicious the dinner !!💗

Amazing experience at &beer this past weekend. Hoping they make it a permanent thing 🤞🏻
Read moreWe got the lions mane dumplings (don’t miss these!), the hen of the woods (also great, lots of flavors), the ravioli (the prettiest & tastiest dish), & the blue oyster (heavier fare, not my favorite). Almost got dessert, but didn’t have time before our next engagement. We will be back!
Great beer & wine selection as well!

For mushroom lovers only - Edit
If you're a beer fan (I'm not) or a mushroom fan (I absolutely am), this is the place for you! My boyfriend and I were visiting NYC recently and had to check it out. &Beer is part of the Overthrow Hospitality group, a collection of vegan bars and restaurants around the East Village. We arrived on a Friday evening and entered a narrow restaurant (because the address is split into two restaurants) with bar seating, but we were able to get a small table with fairly comfortable barstools.
Read moreSince I'm not a beer person, I ordered an Italian soda, which, although a bit expensive, was very nice to have with my meal. &Beer is the sort of place where you order dishes for the table and share them, and the servers at those places always recommend you get more dishes than you can eat. We stuck with three items, the Hen of the Woods, which I think was my favorite; the White Silver Dollar; and the Blue Oyster, which came with a grilled onion, another way to make me happy. Everything was really good, and three dishes between my boyfriend and me proved ample.
There is one dessert item, a chocolate truffle tortellini, and it was certainly interesting.
I saw that &Beer is listed as a pop-up, but I do hope they stick around because I sure would love to come back the next time I'm in NYC.
Pros: All vegan, Really good food
Cons: Very small space, A bit expensive
