Delicious food and super friendly staff

I stopped here on the way to Barstow and I'm so glad I did. Who would have thought you'd find an all vegan Mexican place in Victorville?! The food was delicious and I chatted briefly with the owner when she came to check on me. She explained to me why she opened this place. She was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and went plant based for her and her baby's health. So very inspiring! Highly recommend!!

Pros: Food was delicious., Friendly staff., Prices were resonable.

Cons: Limited hours.

Yum

Excellent tacos! Love the variety! I got a Platter of 3 different kinds and they were all so delicious. They're jammed packed tacos, so they were hard to eat but thats a good thing!!!
This place is very hard to find though, fyi! Google maps takes you to a random parking lot. It's inside the greyhound bus station. So park at the bus station and walk over and find the right door. It's confusing but once we found it, it was worth the confusion.
They have many different hours listed between HappyCow, Instagram and their website so that was frustrating. We aren't from the area so we had no clue. We called to check, luckily they were open!
Thankful for a yummy vegan place on our drive from Las Vegas to Los Angeles.

Superb creative tasty place

Color me happy to have a unique vegan place here in the High Desert! We've only been here once -- we didn't know about it before -- and it was a happy surprise. Familiar foods with a creative twist that were satisfying. The small shop is perfectly decorated with the "vato" theme. Hubby (the carnivore who will try anything new) had a taco salad with faux fish and I had 3 tacos with chorizo. We took it home so we could have a beer with it. So much more than I expected! I intend to try the jackfruit as I've never had that. I intend to try each and every dish over the next few weeks. Top notch!

Pros: Creative creations, Tasty and good looking, Perfect decor

Cons: Sauce a bit too spicy, Don't serve alcohol

Amazing food

Really good food that is special and inventive. Nachos have so many flavors and textures every delicious bite was a little different. Their portobello "fish" is so good I wish they would do a fish plate. Portions are large. I wished I had someone to split plates with so I could try more items. Black forest cake is great but had to save it for later in order to just...keep...eating the dinner lol!
Parking is odd, meant to be for the bus station, so as you approach veer left and you'll see the door with the restaurant name on it. Friendly, talented gentleman behind the grill offered me chili oil, amazing flavor!
They prefer card payments over cash, like most places these days.

Is this amazingness really in Victorville?

Do you ever experience something incredible or amazing that you just have to sit back for a minute and ponder what you were feeling? That’s how I felt after finishing my box of wonderment from Vegan Vato. I mean I’ve been to all the bougie ass, vegan places in LA, Vegas, Portland, the Bay Area. Little old Victorville just kind of changed a whole set of beliefs for me.

These tacos were a wonderful visual and gastronomical Kaleidoscope of color, texture, freshness, amazing flavor, spice, nourishment, you get the idea. I ordered the Asada, the fish, and the chorizo. And they were all as awesome as the next.

The ladies working there or super sweet and we’re more than happy to field any questions. The prices were unbelievably cheap. Three very large tacos for $14 that are vegan? Am I really in Southern California?

The only con is the parking situation. The restaurant is actually a super nice space in a greyhound station which is otherwise. … not super nice. The greyhound bathroom is the only bathroom in the building, yikes. Also The only parking I could find near the building seemed to be for city, and police vehicles..

In summary, this is absolutely a must stop Between Vegas and LA. [censored] the speed limit, get here as fast as you can. And I don’t mean just eat here because it’s a convenient place to stop if you’re hungry between LA and Vegas, I mean, make an actual plan to eat here. This isn’t just a stop because your stomach is eating itself, and you need to fill it (Bakers is in that camp). As a matter of fact, [censored] Vegas, you’ll lose anyways. Spend your hard earned money here and eat amazing, vegan, Mexican food, and enjoy the [censored] show they call Victorville all weekend.

Slap me silly and call me a vegan vato!!

This place slaps! In an otherwise empty bus station the vegan vato brings color and beautiful decor to an empty environment. I am thrilled to see a fully vegan restaurant in Victorville CA!! I loved the creativity like using hibiscus flowers for asada! I’ll stop here anytime I’m in town!

Pros: Fully vegan!!

Cons: Styrofoam to go boxes

It takes a minute to find

Yes, they are open. The building looks empty, but Vegan Vato is fresh and alive on the bus station. Park where people park for the buses or if you picking up, park along the green curb and hedges near the train track.
The menu is so creative. They let you mix flavors of tacos! Most places make you get the same protein. The Agra Fresca is great, not too sweet.
Go out if your way and eat here!!! All of the flavors are amazing!!!!

Pros: All vegan, Super creative

Cons: Parking is confusing

Healthiest (most loaded) nacho fries I've ever seen.

Ever seen a photo of a flower between the cracks of a desolate wasteland? That's The Vegan Vato.

The nacho fries were so savory with fresh and flavorful ingredients like pumpkin seeds, greens, grains. All proteins are home made - half pollo(jackfruit)/half asada(hibiscus flowers). The owners are really cool as well.

There's something about the space that should be noted. It's located between the Route 66 museum and the Mojave River trail, in the old bus station. Shares the place with VVTA & CHP(I like their 80's logo ).Also can't tell if the Greyhound hub is abandoned. It's a ghost town 🌵 but already Vegan Vato has given a purpose to go to DT Victorville, could it be the start to reviving the area? The food & atmosphere is definitely worth it.

A Desert Oasis!

I was so excited to find this vegan oasis in Victorville. Normally I would have to travel down I-15 to find a 100% vegan restaurant. Not anymore! A great Mexican food restaurant with super friendly staff members! I really enjoyed the “pollo”, “carne asada” and “chorizo” tacos. (My favorite was the chorizo). I look forward to trying other menu items when I am back in Victorville. Great decor!

Delicious, Authentic, and Vegan!

I got the loaded nacho fries and the hibiscus asada tacos and I was blown away at the variety of flavors and abundance of amazing fresh ingredients that were packed into these filling entrees! I’ll be coming back again and again to try every menu item! The atmosphere is lovely and the easy to understand (VEGAN) menu provides for an enjoyable and positive dining experience thats been long overdue for the high desert.

One of my top fave for tacos

The food was very flavorful. I brought two non-vegan coworkers, and the pressure was on. This was their first time having a vegan meal. They were both thrilled and gave it two thumbs up. I am very picky when it comes to food, and they delivered. I had the tacos and they are up there with my top best tacos I've had. I'm coming back for sure.

Creative Vegan Cuisine

Vegan Vato is just getting started but I think they are going to be a very popular place for years to come. The best part about this new vegan restaurant (besides being in the High Desert) is their creative vegan “meat” choices. I think they could shrink the portions a little bit and still charge the same money. My burrito was massive and would be easier to eat if it was just smaller. Otherwise it was really delicious! I will be returning here as my go to spot now!

Vibrant Vegan Food Comes to Victorville!

The Vegan Vato is a newly opened brick and mortal restaurant created by couple Damion and Amber Carlos after many years of providing vegan food at various farmer’s markets.

Prior to visiting the restaurant, I contacted them via Instagram regarding the use of nuts in their menu items. I appreciate that my message was responded to my message quickly with the answer that they use hemp and pumpkin seeds but are those are not currently available. I later learned that their chipotle sour cream contains cashews so beware of this if you have a nut allergy.

Menu options are the Barrio Burrito, Taco Trio, Loco Nachos, Loaded Fries, Enchiladas and Taco Salad Bowl.

Vegan “meat” options are pollo which is citrus flavored shredded jackfruit, carne asada which is traditional flavored hibiscus flowers roasted with mixed bell peppers, chorizo which is crispy potatoes and toasted cauliflower in an authentic sauce, Baja style fish which is crunchy seasoned battered portobello mushroom, and Burris which is tender hibiscus flowers with shaved portobello mushrooms in a flavorful spice blend consume.

Sides include tacos, rice, black beans, fries, avocado and extra protein.

The sauce lineup consists of salsa, nacho cheese sauce, chipotle sour cream and several topping ingredients.

Drink choices are bottle water, sparkling water, or bottled juice.

Upon arriving, we were warmly welcomed by one of the restaurant owners. After ordering from the menu, we enjoyed the colorful waiting area and took one of the free stickers promoting the new business.

I ordered a taco salad topped with the Baja style fish along with a side of rice and hubby ordered the loaded fries with a combination of the pollo, carne asada, and chorizo meats. Fries were made fresh which was a plus.

My taco bowl was delicious and perfectly cooked and the mushrooms were crispy, yet moist and very filling.

The rice was fragrant and fluffy. Hubby thoroughly enjoyed the tacos and especially liked the carne asada meat.

The restaurant is already showing signs of popularity by selling out of three days worth of food within the first and second days of officially opening. Hopefully, they’ll soon balance the amount of food available to meet the needs of the vegan and vegan curious customers and become a must visit restaurant in Victorville.
