Mixed feelings - Edit
I’ve never had any problems before with finding something to eat (and enjoying it). Loved the breakfast last time I was here!
Read moreHowever, today I ordered the vegan burger which stated it was the beyond brand. Now I’ve had a few of these before, so unless it was massively overcooked (quite possible) it didn’t taste like the beyond burger. Disappointed every element (or lack of) was so dry- patty, no mayo, bread.
I’d come again, but only at breakfast.
Pros: Dog friendly , Comfy interior , Breakfast (including oat milk)

Great view, but food was a letdown. - Edit
I ordered the vegan burger, menu said it was served with coleslaw and salad. It was £18 which seemed overpriced but OK, we were hungry and the view was great. My partner ordered and I asked him to check that the coleslaw was vegan, cos you know, I'm suspicious. He was told it wasn't (by a supervisor). Food came out, with coleslaw. Server said it was vg. I didn't eat it. Burger was tepid, bread was dry. Just a sad sad meal. A maccie's would have been better. I was offered a free vg desert but didn't take them up on it in the circumstances. Got a free pint instead. Partner's vg lasagne was OK, and they had vg cheese which is a plus. The 2 stars are for the lovely view, and the nice dog we met there.
Read morePros: The view 😍, Server was nice., Lovely place to have a drink and look at the sea.
Cons: Expensive, Contradictory info about what was vegan.

Let down with the vegan afternoon tea - Edit
We have visited the spa hotel numerous times in the past and have even recommended it to friends. Their vegan afternoon tea offer used to be one of the best in the area with real thought put into sandwich fillings and cakes, even vegan clotted 'cream'. Sadly our most recent visit was a let down. We went in the summer and it was very busy. We felt overlooked and we were not given any choice of tea. The waiting team were having to go in and out side and confusion over people coming in to order at the bar seems to add to the feeling of us being overlooked. The sandwich fillings are now generic and I feel as if some of the savoury and sweet options were bought in. I reviewed this on Google and the owner replied stating that they had changed the offering of afternoon tea (this isn't advertised) and that we should have been informed about building works (we weren't)
Read moreSadly this seems to be an experience shared by others in terms of quality and communication experienced. It is such a shame as it used to be our go to for a birthday treat or to take visitors to the area.
Pros: Setting in saltburn is beautiful , The fact that vegan afternoon tea is offered
Cons: Decrease in quality and communication

Not as good as it used to be... - Edit
I've had their vegan full English breakfast three or four times, and it used to be pretty decent -- probably 4* overall, with the only slightly sad note being the rather plain "scrambled tofu" that other reviewers have noted.
Read moreLast time, though, there was no scrambled tofu at all, which wasn't mentioned till the food came to the table -- it'd been replaced by an extra hash brown. Given I'm paying an extra £3 or so over the vegetarian breakfast, this felt like the most expensive and unwanted hash brown in existence. I didn't get a chance to refuse the substitution or change it for something else. Speaking to other people who've bought the full vegan English lately, this seems to be standard now -- that we're being overcharged for what's really fairly generic food. Previously I'd have recommended this place, but now I'll be taking people to Rapp's for the superior (and cheaper!) vegan breakfast there.
Pros: Friendly, Good vegan black pudding, Nice coffee
Cons: Lack of items paid for, Lack of communication over substitutions, Price

Worth for the view. - Edit
We discovered that they offer a vegan full english breakfast and were intrigued to try it for they even had scrambled tofu and black pudding (we were curious about that) on the menu.
Read moreThe breakfast was ok. I really liked the mushroom, tomatoes and sourdough bread. I wasnt too impressed with the sausages while my boyfriend liked them. The black pudding was interesting and it was great to have the opportunity to try it.
The „scrambled tofu“ gave us a good laugh because it actually was plain tofu that had just been crumbled and heated. Not fried, no spices, no nothing. Not even salt and pepper. It was as if they wanted to make a joke about vegan food though I guess they are seriously believing this to be scrambled tofu.
I think it is great they offer a vegan breakfast.
The view from their deck is amazing, and the restaurant inside looks really nice to. So while the food did not impress the place did satisfy, the staff was nice, and you could always go there for some refreshment and enjoy the view.
With 48h notice they are even able to offer a vegan high tea (which might be interesting to know).

Vegan burger & Chips - Edit
Food was seriously overpriced for what you get, would have cost an extra £5 for a slice of vegan bacon and cheese on the burger, I mean really!!

Upper class pub food! - Edit
Really delicious and good quality food and plenty of options. It’s the second time we’ve eaten here now. All have been delicious, options e.g. homemade “burgers” (quinoa and sweet potato, falafel burger), mushroom bourginion, chickpea salad, chickpea tagine, buffalo tofu salad. Also have deserts too (pancakes and brownies). Bonus: good coffee and gin!! Plenty of just veggie options too, definitely recommend as there is food for mixed dietary preferences xx
