Found this cute restaurant down a side street away from the busy main streets. Atmospheric with a few decent vegan options. We had the bruschetta, which was very tasty. Worth another visit.

We came one night, and knew we wanted the vegan platter, but the waitress told us they didn’t have it available that night. So she encouraged us to book up for the following night (so you may need to do this too).
Read moreVegan platter was nice, we had it for two and it was absolutely huge! We couldn’t finish it all! It has peppers, hummus, aubergine, olives, vegan feta, some fake meat, artichokes and bread (which could be refilled if you finish it)

lovely restaurant on a not so busy street, the food was very yummy! some vegan options and they also made arrangements to change some ingredients to make the salad vegan, which was very nice.

Really cool bar with several fantastic vegan options clearly labelled on the menu. Super fresh food, we had to wait for fresh bread to be delivered as the bar had only just opened their doors when we rocked up. We were going to have a drink whilst we waited but the bread arrived within 10 minutes of sitting down and was absolutely worth the wait. The waiter chatted to us about the menu and gave us details about the shop where their crockery was from. Cannot fault this place, a must visit when in Valletta

We had the vegan platter and it didn't disappoint. It was massive (although we were told it was just for one person) and full of fresh and tasty treats, and It came with a whole loaf of bread! The atmosphere was also 10/10. Very chilled and alternative, had loads od board games, so we played UNO while we waited for the food and had a great time! 👍

Better options in Valletta - Edit
The vegan options were very limited. The vegan plata although sounded nice, is €18 and suited for 2 people, so I didn't have this as a single traveller.
Read moreI opted for the Mediterranean salad which was adapted to be vegan. Its not very substantial or filling but you get complimentary bread with it. I ended up filling up on the bread which isn't great for a €10 salad. Could have done with some walnuts or something similar to bulk it up.
Also the bowl was not clean as it had a horrible smell about it, possible residue from being cleaned with plates with animal products on them. I tried to ignore it so I didn't waste my food but it was very off putting.
Pros: Friendly service, Nice vibe, Outdoor seating
Cons: Limited vegan options, Bowl smelt unclean

We’ve been to Rootz twice on our trip. Both times I had the Billie which was an Italian wrap with marinated tofu, aubergine, walnuts, salad leaves, sun dried tomatoes and balsamic glaze. It was so delicious and everything is cooked to order but it’s worth the wait!

We visited the Rootz Bar because of the positive recommendations. And we weren't disappointed!!! Unfortunately the vegan platter was sold out but the nice waitress helped us to find a tasty alternative! We had a fresh and very delicious salad with green apple, walnuts and truffles and instead of parmesan with tofu. Our main course was the Piadine „Michelle“ with grilled peppers, avocado, pistachios, lemon zest and salad. We loved it!!!

Lovely atmosphere, very fresh charcuterie - Edit
This restaurant spills out onto the narrow street, with lots of outdoor seating and live music recordings contributing to a wonderful, romantic atmosphere. The staff was very friendly, and the vegan charcuterie platter we ordered was so fresh! I wish there had been more of the seitan slices because they were my favorite but all the vegetables - artichokes, peppers, olives - were so flavorful as well. I recommend for a nice date night!

Delicious vegan platter - Edit
We happened to come across this place and noticed the vegan options. It was popular so we had to book in advance. The staff were really friendly (one of them was vegan) and we had the vegan platter and some vegan wine. For dessert, they had a kind of millionaire shortbread made with dark chocolate and peanut that was delicious.
