No longer many vegan options - Edit
No longer has as many vegan options. Disappointed they have not updated the menu to accommodate vegans more since the pandemic.
Read moreThere was once many options that my friends and I enjoyed. Would return if the menu were updated.

Yeah this is really disappointing because pre-pandemic they were even doing “vegan vednesdays” and the options they had were really good but apparently they are moving in the wrong direction.

Variable, but typically great - Edit
The menu changes frequently, and I have found that the vegan options can range from okay to epic. The downside is that if you discover a favorite, it may not be on the menu next time you go.
Read moreSome of my favorites have been the vegan chilaquiles and the fried green tomato sandwich. The latter was a fantastic sandwich -- full of flavor, and one I couldn't easily recreate at home.
Pros: Unique vegan optioms, Flavorful!
Cons: Very mediocre fries 🙁

Sooo good! - Edit
Vegan options are clearly marked on the menu and the staff are knowledgeable about swaps/options. The chicken and waffles at brunch is delicious (and so is the dinner), but if they're busy the often run out of stuff😒Try the vegan biscuits and gravy too!

We loved the food, and had to split four meals between us because there were way too many vegan options we wanted to try! We loved all of them and all the left overs!

Excellent food - Edit
From the same chef that created the epic diner Golden Harvest, The People’s Kitchen has awesome food! There are only a few vegan options, but they are all delicious. The vegan biscuits and mushroom gravy are my favorite. Even has vegan chikn and fries for kids.

Not as vegan-friendly as I'd expected - Edit
This is the second time I've eaten here. The first time was for lunch and my friend and I had vegan options from which to choose. The dinner menu has virtually nothing but a salad which can be made vegan, and I received that with feta cheese the first time around.
Read morePros: Nice atmosphere and staff.
Cons: Virtually no vegan options on the dinner menu.

Good food, long waits - Edit
Came here with a few friends, but what we thought would be a quick brunch turned into a whole afternoon! I had the vegan biscuits and gravy and a vegan waffle with fruits! I haven't found a vegan biscuit and gravy that resembled the ”real” thing and although these weren't what I was looking for, it was still pretty great for $4! The waffle with fruit was literally just that... A waffle with fruit! This item wasn't on the menu but I was really expecting some kind of preserve or fruity syrup so it was kinda just eh:/ At the end it wasn't too expensive, but it was just such slow service. Don't know if I'd go back but if you're looking for something new it is a nice little change in East Lansing
