Serves meat, vegan options available. Quirky pub restaurant in the Peak District that serves a typical pub menu with a number of vegan and vegetarian options indicated on the menu. Offers dairy free butter and milk that can be used to adapt recipes in order to make them completely vegan. The staff are accommodating to dietary requirements and there is a resident vegan working there. Dog friendly. Open Mon-Sun 12:00-21:00.

Good food, good drink - Edit
We had a “Sloppy Croppy” which was a burger with veg chilli. The burger was great, much better than the usual dry burger in a bun that us vegans are used to.

Surprisingly good - Edit
I had a simple but very tasty lunch, full of flavour. Seeing the mixed reviews here beforehand, and given how fussy I can be, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was.

Bit sad - Edit
We went on a busy Saturday night and they seemed to be struggling. Much more limited selection of vegan options than portrayed on the website and other reviews. Ordered a number of sides as didn’t fancy the one vegan main. Small portions, slightly cold and underwhelming. I know covid is impacting all restaurants but this wasn’t anything like we were expecting from the reviews.

Not Impressed - Edit
Based on some good reviews we went here for my wife's birthday. My wife chose a vegan filo pastry parcel and I chose a vegan falafel burger with hummus. The filo pastry was so tough my wife struggled to cut it open; the interior was excessively sweet and not worth the effort. The vegan falafel was tasteless and stodgy, so was the bun. Even the chips (the thin french fries variety) were like cardboard. We both left most of our meals and abandoned any idea of desert. The bar staff did not seem surprised we were unhappy and we were obviously not the first to say the burger was terrible. For comparison we went into the nearby Rose Cottage cafe for coffee and cake - the food looked lovely and was *much* better value.

Vegan choices - Edit
This charming restaurant had some limited vegan choices. We would have liked more choices. We had a risotto and the bean burger, all very nicely done. One of the staff was vegan, and was helpful.

Really great food - Edit
The menu has changed since this entry was made and I am struggling to find the new menu online. However I can assure you there are still vegan options here and they are pretty good. We had breaded mushrooms and a beautiful bbq dip for starter and a bean burger and chips for mains. Was really delicious, was ready to just get a jacket potato and beans somewhere soo glad we didn't. There was another vegan option on the mains sadly I cannot remember what it was also sounded good just not as good as the burger.
