The best food you could ask for on a cold rainy day - Edit
Came here for lunch after getting caught in the rain on the bike ride back to the hotel on an already chilly day. My boyfriend had left his phone on the rented bike and ran out to get it. He ran out in the rain to retrieve it and texted me “aloo. got t.”, so I ordered aloo gobi. He actually was trying to type “all good, got it” but it turned out we made the right choice! The aloo gobi and mulligatawny soup were amazing and wonderfully warming. The lunch deal of curry with rice and soup was about $12 for a good amount of food. I got an extra soup and some roti and it was plenty of food for two.

They. Are. DELICIOUS - Edit
I was not expecting to find much in the area, let alone good vegan food options out. Went here for dinner and it was amazing. Truly think they could rival the ATL Indian scene. Will be going again next time I am forced into town. Great taste, great service, good portions. Just go.

Fine Indian dining... Wine not?! - Edit
Dinner at this classy & refined restaurant is always a quality experience. Satisfied with the soup alone, that used to be my order. Now more educated & less afraid of asking questions, on my most-recent visit, I ordered an appetizer of bread & an entrée (which came with a small bowl of soup 😋)
Read moreBecause I like doing homework & being helpful as much as I enjoy The Oven's mulligatawny soup, here's a "cheat sheet" for you ~
• Vegan Entrées: Aloo Gobi, Aloo Matar, Palek Chole, Sarson Ka Saag, & Vegetable Curry
• Also, IF ordered *w/o paneer: Palek*, Vegetable Jalfrazie*, & Vegetable Madras*
Dip Tip: Many appetizers, including all breads, come with mint chutney - which contains dairy/yogurt. You can get it made w/o yogurt if you ask.
Content with roti as my appetizer, I didn't confirm which appetizers were or could be made vegan... Next time!
Unable to afford, let alone pronounce, any of the over 2,000 wines, all I'll say on that is their list is as extensive as their collection is award-winning & impressive.
Consistently excellent food, atmosphere, & service, I highly recommend The Oven. Even (or rather, especially) as a vegan, I agree with the owner that there's "something for everybody" here.
Pros: One of Lincoln/Nebraska's finest restaurants, Largest fine wine selection in the state, Effortlessly polite & customer-oriented staff
Cons: Expensive, but worth it!

Read moreWe had the vegetable curry and the aloo gobi. Both were delicious and came with soup or salad and rice.
