Served me cow cheese - Edit
This is a cute, old pub attached to a hotel with dogs and a cosy atmosphere. I ordered vegan nachos and specified that I was vegan, and that the whole meal needed to be vegan. I noticed the sour cream looked real and when I asked the waiter if it was vegan he went to the kitchen and said it was not. This should have been a red flag to the kitchen. I recognised the cheese looked strange and after eating some and asking my friends what they thought I asked the kitchen again. It turns out they used cows cheese. Could have been deadly if I was allergic. Also served by a very rude member of staff with a beard and moustache who seemed raging to be there. The woman who served me the cheese didn’t charge me for my meal but didn’t offer any other apology or anything to make up for the situation. terrible experience.

Nice traditional pub - Edit
There's few vegan options on the menu but the staff are very attentive and double checked with the kitchen when I asked about making the veggie haggis with neeps and tatties vegan. Some of the staff are already used to this, but newer staff may not be aware. It tastes delicious and feels homemade. It's a very nice pub on the inside, good craft beer from their own brewery and good folk music playing.

Lovely country pub with a welcoming atmosphere and vegan options. - Edit
We got a really great welcome when we arrived at the pub - it’s joined onto a country hotel but has the feel of a village pub.
Read moreThey didn’t take bookings but the five of us and the three dogs fitted into a booth.
The food was very fresh and had a home cooked feel and taste.
There were lots of traditional pub classics but the staff were really helpful and told us that the french onion soup was vegan without the cheese top and the veggie haggis, neeps and tattties could be vegan with the mash exchanged for boiled potatoes.
We also had the vegan curry, which was a massive portion and served with a poppadom.
Wasn’t the biggest choice but the quality and taste was that good we will be back again
Pros: Very welcoming with great staff, No need to book, Dog and children friendly
Cons: A couple more vegan options would have been nice
