The best brunch ever

I only tasted the brunch which is served on saturday, and it was seriously awesome. The food was delicious (especially the crepes which were so fluffy), warm, and came in a great quantity (really, be careful i was so hungry that day and i could barely finish it).
The place is so pretty, with some fancy natural light inside, and the other cakes looked delicious too !
I also had a delicious coffee with oat milk.

Pros: Pretty place, Delicious food , Quite cheap for the quantity of good served

Nice spot for a relaxing afternoon (rainy or not)

I stopped by The Judgy Vegan on my only afternoon in Brussels. After much walking around, stopping by this cafe' was ideal. There are games, couches and free internet, which make it an ideal spot for that drink with cake, in the patio in the sunshine, or under the skylight if it rains. The interior has an unfinished, rough around the edges vibe (which you can find in many other grassroots veggie places): take it as a sign they are dedicated to the diet and lifestyle but still new enough not to be able to do full renovations. Support them as they are young and they will grow and blossom!
Well, remember what I said about afternoon tea and cake?Actually, I had some late lunch, in the shape of a vegan chick pea frittata, topped with veggies. It was tasty! Other options on the menu are a bit less wholesome (some of the food item feel a bit processed) and perhaps there is a bit of a lack of homemade drink options, but this place is not pretentious and that is reflected in all aspects here: food, drinks, decoration... If you want to hang in a chill spot and are chilled about it, you have found your place.

Pros: Lots of seating and moving space! Plenty of room, Quiet and relaxed, All right prices and a good selection of dishes

Cons: Decor could be more coherent, if you're picky

Loved it!

I had the brunch today with my non-vegan boyfriend and we both loved it. Especially the "omelette" was amazing. Also really great value. I will definitely come back when I'm in Brussels again.

Vegans!! please read

For starters, we have both been vegan for 4 years and have never experienced food as vile as the food served at this establishment... the decor will remind you of a children’s museum cafeteria. We ordered a potato burger (safe bet for vegans) and a grilled cheese with mushrooms and onions. The potato burger was basically a mush patty that had different temperatures through out every bite... some areas cold and others hot. The burger was topped with wet lettuce & gushy cucumbers. Next we had the grilled cheese. The grilled cheese had enough oil in it to make Belgium waffles... and the cheese wasn’t even slightly melted. So basically a rubber oil sandwich!! Oh yeah, I also ordered a banana milkshake (banana is my favorite) the milkshake was room temperature and had the consistency of water. It’s safe to say banana isn’t my favorite anymore. On a brighter note, we got a blueberry lemon cake to go and it was quite delightful. I did end up throwing up my potato burger, grilled cheese and warm milkshake into the gutter outside. So cheers & stay away.

No good brunch...

Tried the vegan all-you-can-eat brunch. It was not good... food was cold, plain without a lot of taste. Just the kind of things you can cook home (better). Too bad

Wonderful quick lunch

Stopped in here between train journeys - my boyfriend and I had delicious smoked tofu and cheese sandwiches. There was also a beautiful dog. 10/10

Amazing place.

I haven't tried the brunch yet but went a few times to enjoy a nice veg croque-monsieur or some mac and cheese.
The waitress is always friendly and the place is cosy.

I would 100% recommend it.

Pros: All vegan food., Great atmosphere., A lot of original croque-monsieur.

Salon calme et engagé

Très bons cupcake et smoothie (nous n'avons pas testé le salé), autocollants militants à prix libres, promotion d'artistes, accueil très gentil, vraiment un chouette endroit :)

I felt so good and everything was so tasty! I recommend this place his philosophy and "comfort food" concept. This place is so welcoming. You have to try it!

A bit disappointed

I expected so much from this, but I was a bit disappointed. I have to admit that they had some nice dishes, but nothing really spectacular or creative. Not a lot of veggies either.
I felt like there were too many people for the amount of food. As soon as they brought in some more (which took ages), everyone got up at the same time. By the time that you reached the dish you want to try, there was barely any left and you don't want to take too much because there are still so many people waiting behind you. Drinks are not included either, but I loved that there was free tap water (something all pubs and restaurants should do!). I also found it weird that despite the fact that there were some desserts in the buffet, you could buy some seperatly.
I feel like there is a lot of potential here, but they really need to get a bit more creative.

Pros: Free tap water, All vegan

Cons: Not creative, food could be better, You have to wait for ages

Rare vegan in Brussels

The Judgy Vegan is one of the very rare vegan places in Brussels, so it's a great addition to the restaurants scene. I tried the brunch (all you can eat on weekends). It was good. Mostly confort food (but it was winter so it was perfect) the dishes could have been more imaginative though. The desserts (baked fruit salad, cake, "croustillon") were great!

The place is cozy, you can stay a while after your meal and the people were friendly.
Water for free! Always a plus.

Pros: all vegan, atmostphere

Cons: more options/surprises at brunch

awesome place !

They have evening dishes at 8€ which will totally satisfy you. And if you still have some free place for more, their carrot cake is just amazing. Brussels was really in need of a restaurant like this one !
The brunch are full of options, and they change every month! I try to taste each of them :) They have awesome mac’n’cheese wich can convince every omnivore to eat them!
All the leftovers are given to persons who needs them, the place is clearly stated as lgbt friendly and feminist, animals and children friendly,...

Pros: Low prices (outside brunch), Great mindset (0 waste, inclusive, ..), Good confort food

Cons: Lack of sophisticate dishes

Dissapointed, but hopeful

I am very happy to see the judgy vegan in Brussels, and I love that young girls got together to crowdfunding this concept in Brussels. However, I will be honest that My companion and I were super disappointed with the quality, the creativity, the presentation, price.I have to leave this review, because I feel if I don’t mention these matters, the place will find it hard to keep business going. While there are promising sides, like the baked goods are quite nice--but a bit too sweet. The food lacked imagination and charm. It honestly felt like a veganised children’s menu at some diner in the state of Idaho (i.e. not what you would expect for a hip neighbourhood in the capital of belgium/europe where some of the very good veg markets at crawling distance away) : mac and cheese, pizza, lasagna, grilled cheese sandwiches, cookies, pudding, a dish that was au-gratin, and more sweets. I know it’s incredible that all these dishes can be veganised, but so what? who eats a meal based entirely on these “dishes”? I think there can be more belgian dishes, and dishes with vegetables, and drinks added in. Good concept, but it's not easy food to eat. Small issues like no salt and pepper shakers, no toilet roll holder, water not refilled, not enough spoons, chairs not very comfortable, no online menu, food heaters not working very well-need to be worked on. A good idea, but there is a lot of work to do to make it a success.

Great donuts

They came to one of the potlucks we had as the vegan community. Donuts they brought were absolutely amazing and tasty, especially the chocolate ones.

Pros: tasty, kind owners

Hey Ana,

Thank you very much for your review, we are happy to hear you liked our donuts so much :)

You might have missed it, but we have started a couple of weeks ago, to open the café on weekends from 11am to 5pm, so our pastries are not just available by order anymore.

We always have pastries when we are open, but since we are only 3 people, we cannot sell donuts for now.

We hope to welcome you soon at our café :)

Creativity and quality

I booked a brunch at The Judgy Vegan and loved it. Having seen a lot of vegan brunches, I would say The Judgy Vegan demonstrates good creativity and high quality. I appreciated the tapenade with kidney beans, never seen that before. Also loved their use of mayonnaise, both as a spread and as a sauce in salads. Mayonnaise is practically a nonexisting ingredient in vegan restaurants (with the exception of restaurants in the "fast food" category).

Pancakes were delicious and fluffy. I hope The Judgy Vegan all the best and will definitely be visiting them again.

Pros: use of mayonnaise, creativity, variety

delicious vegan brunch incl a terrace

Today I enjoyed a brunch at the Judgy Vegan on their terrace. All the food is tasty and there is a variety of sweet and salty choices.
It is a self service buffet which is good and limits food waste since you pick the amounts and can always go back for more.
Only remark is that the dishes were a bit 'simple', I would have rather seen vegan cheeses or quiche instead of bowls with cucumber/tomato and pasta with plain tomato sauce.
Also in terms of bread (only plain whole grain) and pastries (just brioche) I would have liked to see some croissants or other things.
Aioli was very good and in general even though it was simple everything tasted fresh and good and the price is bet reasonable (16e).
Great to be able to brunch in such a nice neighborhood with friendly staff!
And must say it's the start- so dishes might evolve :)

Pros: Tasty, Variety of sweet and salty, Terrace

Cons: Drinks not included in price, Dishes could be more interesting

Best vegan restaurant in Brussels!

We've been waiting for The Judgy Vegan to open and now that it has, we're so happy. It's a 100% vegan place in Brussels and the food is delicious. You can eat cakes, pancakes, pastas, tortilla, and a lot of other food, all vegan! They also do cake orders. We tasted some and they were absolutely delicious and beautiful! Their "all you can eat brunch" on saturdays and sundays is awesome, with a lot of choice and great taste. The place is big and very comfy and there is a terrace. It's well situated, in Brussel's center, near the Place du Jeu de Balle. Great plus : it's fighting againt speciesism but also sexism, racism, fascism, homophobia, and all sorts of systemical discrimination.

Don't hesitate, you have to check it out!

Pros: Excellent food and huge portions, Adorable staff, Very affordable

Cons: Too much food to eat in one visit

Delicious all you can eat brunch

We get there with my girlfriend for a Sunday brunch.

It's not yet opened but they are making pre-opening brunch every week-end.

The place is big with a lot of place to eat. The ceiling is high and give a sensation of space.

It makes it confortable to eat/take food without having to navigate between all the tables. The queue at the buffet isn't long and you'll get food quickly :)

There is also a small terrasse.

The staff is kind and explains everything you need to know.

There is a lot of choice for salty/sugary meals. There is great sauces. When a plate is empty they are putting back a full one quickly. You can drink all water you want for free but they are also making tea, coffee, cappuccino, latte, ...

For the future, we just hope they'll buy some plates heater to keep plates hot when it's better hot than cold.

The price is good and the ambiance was very chilled 👌🏻

We highly recommend their brunch!

Pros: The choice, The ambiance, The place

Cons: Missing plate heaters

Finally a vegan café in Brussels, that happens to be awesome

Finally there is somewhere in the capital of Europe to grab a coffee and cake ! This café is in a really cool part of town, near Place du Jeu de Balles, not far from Louise.
I've only had the brunch so far, but you get a LOT of food-huge selection, all vegan, sweet and savoury. Really, really good !
The setting is also great, big comfy couches and armchairs, big long tables, tables with benches etc. Whatever you're looking for, they have it !
They also have probably on of the least expensive coffees in Brussels !

Pros: Not expensive, Huge selection of ONLY VEGAN food

Cons: I'm addicted already

Awesome.

You might think you'll find plenty of vegan options in the capital of Europe, but no way! It is so difficult to find something 100% vegan in Brussels, not to mention an actual RESTAURANT 100% vegan... This place has just opened and the atmosphere is so chill and cosy that you might stay there the all day without even realizing it! The food was as good as promised and the owners are freaking nice. To finish, it's a complete concept not only based on vegan food (which is btw very affordable) that was elaborated there and which is worth seeing. THE PLACE TO go in Brussels for vegan (or not)!

Pros: variety of food, decoration, concept

Cons: too much food to choose, too chill to leave
