Great service and understanding of veganism - Edit
Just a few minutes from Jumbo, nice secluded cafe with decent choice for vegans. There wasn't a separate menu when I visited but there should be one shortly. Good sized portion. We sat outside in the shade, very chilled away from the usual crowd

Nice and comforting vegan food - Edit
Cool place to eat on a hot summer afternoon. You'll find all your British typical dishes which are vegan and nicely cooked.

Nice Breakfast - Edit
Went there for breakfast on Sunday as my usual was closed. Service was swift & friendly. Breakfast was nice - vegan sausages weren’t very ‘meaty’ but still tasty. Location is very slightly off the beaten track.

Finally a place that doesn't overcharge for vegans - Edit
The separate vegan menu was outstanding. I could have had everything on that menu without breaking the bank. Great comfort, vegan food without the price tag. You can eat very well here for less than 5 Euros if you really wanted to.

Great Breakfasts - Edit
I was really impressed by the vegan breakfast, great ingredients and was well-cooked, served with toast, vegan spread and a big mug of tea. Great value too.
Read moreSo it was a shame that their vegan Sunday Lunch was such a disappointment. The advertised vegan beef/chicken and Yorkshire pudding were missing and replaced by two sausages, and we had prebooked. Not good value.
Pros: Great Breakfasts
Cons: Avoid the Sunday Lunch
TheEnglishBakery
Hi Steve thanks for your review and glad you loved the breakfast.
Read moreI believe that there is some confusion here over the Sunday Lunch as when you booked, your party were informed that we currently have a supply issue getting our Vegan Chicken and Beef joints as our main supplier has pulled out of Gran Canaria due to the importation costs. As such for the moment these are being replaced with Vegan Sausages which you accepted.
The Vegan Sunday lunch never has come with Yorkshire pudding which are not Vegan and have never been included in the Vegan Dinner.
Its such a shame that you didnt enjoy it but hope you will come back for our other great options.
StevePinder-Banthorp
Whilst I accept I may have been wrong about the Yorkshire puds, but what you say about the sausages just isn't true. At no time was I advised the Sunday lunch would come with sausages rather than the Chicken or Beef alternatives. I only found out about the sausages when I was served my food, hence my disappointment. That is the truth.

Fantastic choice, venue and owners! - Edit
Its not often that I write review but was highly impressed by The English Bakery and the choice on offer!
Read moreWhile the restaurant does cater for meat dishes as well there is a completely seperate Vegan Menu with everything from fully Vegan breakfasts to burgers and even a Sunday Dinner! There is a good choice of 9 vegan sandwiches as well as 4 or 5 vegan salads and a range of vegan friendly smoothies.
I opted for the Vegan Greek Burger and all I can say is wow! The burger was juicy and full of flavour and the homemade mint dressing with vegan feta cheese just made it for me. Homecooked chips like my grandma used to make as well.
My partner tried the Vegan Scampi and chips and loved it. Again they used the same homemade chips and the vegan scampi tasted delicious even coming with a vegan tartare sauce which was a great addition.
The desserts are limited at the moment but they did tell us that they have a new supplier after some problems with their old one pulling out of Gran Canaria and should have some new desserts shortly. At the moment they have their own scones which they make themselves and which are delicious, a vegan chocolate cheesecake as well as vegan ice cream so there is something there for people to enjoy!
Pros: Fabulous choice of menu (8 pages to choose from), Air conditioned, Friendly Staff
Cons: Currently limited dessert options

Disappointing! - Edit
We choose the English Bakery Cafe to try the pies that were advertised an on happy cow. It’s moved location but not far from where it was originally. Once seated and drinks ordered it was 20 minutes before we had our orders taken or even a chance to discuss the menu. If it was busy I would understand this but there was only one other table there. When we asked for the vegan menu there were no pies listed and I was told that the vegan option were limited due to the supplier not delivering to the new location (less that half an km away from original location). I asked about vegan burger and all they has was a pea protein one (menu states soya so not sure which was correct). On the blackboard placed outside they had a lentil burger advertised but not available. I opted to the burger and it wasn’t great but I was hungry. When eating I needed to use the bathroom but it was out of service and there was non available, If I known this when seated I wouldn’t have stayed.

Hi Sarkvil.
Read moreWe remember you very well and we are sorry to hear of your disappointment on your visit however there are quite a few inaccuracies here that need to be rectified.
Firstly, on the day you visited there was indeed a problem with the toilet and you were informed as was everyone else before sitting down that they were out of service awaiting maintenance and given the chance to leave, you chose to stay.
There was not a 20 minute wait for your order to be taken, you were seated and the standard menu was already on the table as it is with every table in our restaurant. You didnt mention you were Vegan or ask for the vegan menu, you ordered your drinks and Steve the Owner and front of house went to the bar to prepare them for you. You sat near the Kitchen hatch and had every opportunity to ask me, the chef and other owner, on full view to the restaurant, for the vegan menu while your drinks were being prepared. You could have also asked for this either by approaching the kitchen staff who were in and out of the kitchen or Steve at the bar who spent a maximum 5 minutes getting your drinks before returning to the table. It was only then that you asked about anything or requested the Vegan menu.
Unfortunately yes the pies are temporarily unavailable. Supply is limited as these are made in the UK and thanks to Brexit there have been significant supply issue with this particular product. This was explained to you and out of our control hence why they are no longer in the menu.
We do not and never have had a ¨Lentil¨ burger, we did initially use Soy protein burger but as you were advised due to supplier (not supply) issues, that particular supplier will no longer supply the area, regardless of being only 500m from our old location, the supplier no longer covers Gran Canaria and that´s not something that we have any control over. We have sourced alternative products and the Pea protein burger which is actually far tastier and superior in quality is now being used. You also had a choice of 5 different styles for the burger to be prepared in and you chose the most basic option available.
Its just such a shame that people don´t give an accurate account of their dining experience and embellish the facts, luckily we have a small team and remember our visitors especially those that came in with preconceived notions and were rude to all staff from outset
sarkvil
We will have to agree to disagree on the quality of the food. You are right that we had to ask for the vegan menu after we sat down. We wrongly through that it would have been part of your main menu. What I have outlined is a true experience of our experience of your establishment. However, I would like to know how we were rude to your staff?

Sorry just to clarify we were not informed the toilets were out of service. Only when one of when to use them were we informed.

Sarkvil, sorry but we aren´t going to get into a spat with you. Everyone was told and given the option to leave for another venue as we didnt know when they would be repoened. We can pull video footage confirming this and you were also fully aware from Google we had moved and contacted Steve in Whatsapp for directions!
Read moresarkvil
It’s not a spat. I was not made aware the toilets were out of action until I tried to uses them. Also you have now made an accusation that I was rude to staff. I’m simply asking how I was rude. You are welcome to pull the cctv. This seems to be a common tactic you use to when you get a negative review. I’ve verified the his on trip advisor.

Lots of vegan options - Edit
A cafe/bar in Yumbo centre with lots of vegan options and they are happy to advertise it with a big sign and on instagram. Burgers, pies, chips, full breakfast and toasts are some of the things they offer. There are room for improvement with vegan cakes and scones.
