Flavorful breakfast burrito - Edit
The Surfer’s Breakfast, made vegan on request, was one of the tastiest breakfast burritos that I’ve had. Hash browns, black beans, avocado, tofu instead of eggs, and vegan cheese rolled up in a crispy flour tortilla. I was underwhelmed by the raspberry hibiscus scone. Kind of dry and needs more raspberry flavor.

Cons: Vegan scone was meh, Needs more vegan menu items

The Butcher's Daughter - Edit
Review from a previous visit pre-COVID. My bf and I shared a number of things and didn't come away impressed with any of it. First, the avocado toast was not good. I didn't have time to read any reviews in advance of my visit and am kicking myself for not reading them. He's right, the avocado toast is mealy, not good, and the bread was thick and dry. For $13, I could have bought a piece of french bread, an avocado, and maybe some olive oil and prepared something 100% better. Bottom line, The Butcher's Daughter should consider reworking this recipe.
Read moreThe vegan reuben sandwich was disappointing. The reuben "meat" was mushy and tasted weird. There were also strange sweet flavors that made it difficult to enjoy the sandwich. I can't say I'd ever consider ordering this again. I cannot recommend it.
The vegan spicy caesar salad was the the best out of all three things ordered but it wasn't great. Maybe they should consider adding more veggies or more dressing too. The amount of fried onions in the dish was overwhelming and I felt they took away any health benefit of ordering a salad.

Veg Hip Wonder - Edit
I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and had non vegan items made vegan. The servers are great at adjusting to any allergies or preferences. Love this place, always bring out of towners for brunch.

one of my favorite places - Edit
my boyfriend and i are both vegetarian and this is one of our absolute favorite places. we both eat mostly vegan and this place has so many options. the mediterranean salad bowl is so tasty. i replace the cheese for vegan cashew cheese. we also love the mushroom pizza subbed for vegan cheese. another amazing dish is the squash tacos. i usually don’t like squash but this is amazing. make sure you say no cheese. last, we LOVE the vegan crab cakes. the sauce is AMAZING.

We enjoyed a fantastic family dinner here. It’s 100% vegetarian with vegan options for almost every menu item (not for mac’n’cheese). Kids had a cheese pizza and loved it. My husband and I had the warm

Good burrito but kind of confusing menu - Edit
Had a vegan burrito here which was good, but kinda expensive for what it was compared to other places. I guess this is a fancy area though. We found the menu actually really confusing. It wasn't super easy to see what was actually vegan and what was just veg. We saw a review on here for the vegan pancakes, but when we asked we were told they weren't actually vegan, it was just the toppings that were. So if you go here double check!

Nice! - Edit
I got the basil BLAT, it was actually pretty good. However... this place was totally overpriced for what I got, I should’ve realised it was a bit upscale early on, but nevertheless a good meal/vibe if you have cash to spend.

Would be 1 star if happycow let me - Edit
This place served me real cheese when I asked for a vegan substitute, which was a really unpleasant experience. This is pretty in line with how this place operates -- it's a vegetarian restaurant first and foremost, and almost all vegan options are modifications of vegetarian mains. I wouldn't describe this place as any more vegan friendly than any other non-vegan restaurant with similar substitution options, and apparently they're worse at actually following those requests.

Good for vegetarians, BAD for vegans - Edit
I'm amending my review. If I could put 1 star I would. We specified vegan on our order and gor served dairy cheese.
Read moreI went here for breakfast, and the menu said they were a vegetarian restaurant with "many vegan and gf options." The menu, however, only had a single vegan item: avocado toast. Literally every other item came with an egg. They change $2.50 to add half an avocado, even after removing the egg. They offer non dairy milks in their lattes but they charge an extra $1 for them. That said, they were able to customize items to make them vegan, and the food was rich and tasty. But it was frustrating to still have to ask for customizations at a restaurant that claimed to have many vegan items.
Pros: Great atmosphere and decor, Allowed custom orders
Cons: Almost no vegan items unless you customize, Kitchen is not careful!! , Upcharges for avocado or for alt milks in coffee

Great vibes, great taste, limited selection - Edit
This is a very nice restaurant in Venice in a trendy location, and the ambiance is fancy but comfortable. There are not a ton of options on the menu, but we liked what we had. We tried the mushroom and arugula pizza with vegan cheese and the vegan burger with an impossible patty. The pizza was not particularly flavorful, but the burger was insane. One of the best vegan burgers we’ve ever had. Prices are a bit of a stretch, but the burger was worth it.

Had a nice sunday brunch, but there weren’t as many vegan options on the menu as I expected. Many dishes could be made vegan by leaving off eggs, etc, but there was an added cost to add in a vegan protein.....

Good vegan brunch - Edit
Trendy and upscale restaurant in Venice. Pricing on the high side but likely due to its location and decor.
Read moreVisited for brunch and we had avocado toast, coconut yoghurt granola fruit bowl, and pancakes (served with banana, nuts, coconut yoghurt and something sweet).
All of these were good. You can't really go wrong with avocado toast - it didn't disappoint and we liked the fresh brown bread the avocado came on. Good coconut yoghurt and nice fluffy pancakes.
Really yummy turmeric latte (very creamy).
Had a bottle of rose - surprised most of their wines are not made in California!
Would be interested to try their lunch options and french toast other people seem to love... another time...!
Pros: Trendy vibe and beautiful decor, Good brunch options
Cons: Potentially expensive depending how much you order
