Beautifully placed a long side, both estuary, a delightful view to accompany a vegan breakfast of titans and a decade coffee with hot soya milk.

Amazing Breakfast - Edit
I recently had the Vegan Breakfast at the boathouse. Honestly one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. Not just your usual basic bits, they had vegan, sausage, bacon, haggis (which is incredible), tofu scramble. Will definitely be returning! Such a gem of a place in a part of the country that doesn’t seem to have many options for vegans. It’s also dog friendly and in a beautiful setting.

I just wish I could add that extra star - Edit
I have lived only 20 mins from this place for 18 months and visited for the first time only other day with my other half. I had the vegan breakfast... and it's *all* I have thought about since. I think it's honestly the best vegan food I've ever tasted. The cooked tomatoes were still on the vine, the tofu scramble was great, the sausages and black pudding were delicious. Everything was prepared with such respect. The service is incredible too, the serving staff are so so lovely. I can't wait until my next visit to Glencaple. Cannot recommend highly enough.

The best vegan breakfast yet - Edit
We’re really impressed with the quality of food - the homemade vegan haggis is delicious and the tofu scramble isn’t trying to be scrambled eggs, it’s just really well cooked, really well seasoned. The cafe is lovely and feels bustling but not busy. Lovely, attentive staff.

Good selection of vegan dishes and/or vegan versions - Edit
Updated - May 2022
Read moreThey are now open Mondays. If you want to eat inside best to book as they get busy.
New menu spring 2022, still got the pancakes, a full vegan cooked breakfast, vegan options for various things, chunky sandwiches, and vegan cheesecake.
Dog friendly outside, and 1 table inside is allowed to have dog there.
Previous review:
Visited with friends, and their menu had a lot to choose from. I opted for the buddha bowl and it comes with bread with vegan spread. Others had the salad bowl and something else. The salad and buddha bowls were made up of lots of different things, and was really pleased to see tofu on the menu!
Will need to go back to try more of the menu, including the cakes.
Light and airy space indoors (too hot to eat outdoors with hayfever sufferer).

Lovely place - Edit
We visited on a sunny crisp morning for brunch. I had the vegan sausage and tofu sandwich. The sandwich was a little soggy with the tofu addition but lots of choice. Enjoyed the vegan scone !

Beautiful food, misleading menu items so be aware! - Edit
We visited The Boathouse to sample their extensive vegan menu. I opted for the Vegan Sausage Fritatta and was gutted to receive an egg based dish. The server told me the sausages within the fritatta were vegan but not the fritatta itself. I informed them that vegan was a ethical term and as such serving a vegan dish with eggs is misleading. They apologised, had no trouble swapping my meal for a different choice (although I'm aware I still contributed to the demand of eggs which defeats the purpose of being vegan really). Please be aware of this and ask exactly which components of each meal is Vegan. I chose the vegan sausage sandwich in with scrambled tofu instead and it was lovely.

Family favourite - Edit
This is one of my favourite places to visit when I come home. It's perfect for any occasion and their food is unreal. I can highly recommend their Big Greenhouse sharing board which I usually eat by myself because it's too good to share. I also recently tried their jackfruit bacon which was immense and I'll be back soon for a 'bacon' sandwich. The staff are all really lovely and helpful so this gets a big thumbs up from me!
