Best vegan fish and chips! - Edit
Five stars!! When I lived in Cambridge, this pub was a staple for my friends and I. I went back recently for a visit and was reminded just how amazing it is! I don’t know how they do it, but the banana blossom “fish” is fantastic. Much better than other soy-based “fish” I’ve tried while living in the UK. You can tell the owners put a lot of time and thought into perfecting their vegan fish. This place has the best fish and chips I’ve tried - no contest! I recommend with their mushy peas and classic tartare sauce, but you can customize the batter, sauce, and side to your liking. The batter is also gluten free (which apparently is uncommon), so it is perfect for those with intolerances or who just want to avoid gluten. There is truly something for everyone. Also the portions are massive!

Gluten-free & good vegan options! - Edit
The Architect didn’t disappoint! I’ve been meaning to visit for so long because of the well-know gluten-free options & ‘vegan fish’. The food was delicious - they also offer vegan & GF Sunday Lunch and Pie options. Lots of great ciders on tap too. Really friendly staff ans great atmosphere.

Great Vegan/Gluten-free Fish and Chips - Edit
Service here is always friendly and welcoming and the pub has a warm atmosphere. We go here when we want a junk food fix and always find it satisfying. Only downside is you stink of fried food when you come out. Would definitely recommend a stop by.

very good food - Edit
the banana blossom fish and chips were very very tasty - and were a huge portion!! the ‘fish’ tasted a lot like actual fish - could be a pro or con depending on ur taste perspective but it was pretty impressive lol. my veggie coeliac friend also found himself well catered for!! 4 stars bc not fully vegan but that’s obvious lolz

Great pub near central Cambridge - Edit
Everything on the menu is clearly labelled for vegan options. Friendly and laid back pub atmosphere. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. Good place to visit with non vegis as there is something for everyone. The food is good quality and isn't too oily.

I’d give 5 star to the vegan fish & chips if I could! - Edit
Four stars only because the pub isn’t fully vegan, as we know - but their vegan fish & chips is absolutely amazing. Would recommend, and we’ll definitely come again when in the area!

Great food & staff - Edit
I have eaten here several times with vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians and meat eaters, ranging in age from our 9yr old granddaughter to 75, and they have all really enjoyed the food. Although, at first glance, the options may feel limited (fish & chips or pie), when you consider the various options of ‘fish’, including vegetarian & vegan, different batters, sides and sauces there is considerable variety. And then there are the pies, and again with different options! Good selection of beers, spirits and wines, polite, friendly & helpful staff all add up to a great meal at a fair price. It is popular, so I always suggest booking.

Great vegan fish and chips - Edit
Great place to satisfy a fish and chips craving as the banana blossom is similar in texture to fish so makes a good substitute. I prefer less fish-like substitutes in general, but still enjoy it here.
Read moreThere's enough variety in batters, sides, and sauces that you can get something different every time you visit.
I've brought a few non-vegan family and friends here, and they have enjoyed trying the banana blossom.
There's a small outdoor seating area at the back, plus some picnic tables in front of the restaurant. On a sunny day, getting takeaway fish and chips to eat on Castle Hill (directly opposite) is perfect.
Pros: Clearly marked vegan options, Lots of vegan combos
