Nice Little Restaurant - Edit
Once again Happy Cow helped us find a place to eat! We went to Thali for dinner and had the Thali plate. They have both vegetarian and vegan options. My fiancé had vegetarian and I had the vegan plate. We both enjoyed the dinner. The gluten free roti was delicious! If I lived here I would pop in just to have the warm roti!

You get what they are cooking that night - Edit
And it is worth it. They offer up a plate of food that is entirely enough by itself, but for the big eaters you can pay a bit more and have unlimited refills. I assume this means until they run out that night and not forever. As others have already remarked, the coconut yogurt doesn’t taste at all like coconut and it is nice and sour and complemented the rest of the meal well.

Great Food & Friendly Staff - Edit
I have loved Thali since I first moved to Reno. I think it's so cool that they use local organic produce and for their dinner menus they just use what is in season and you get to choose which was it's served (Thali, Bunny Chow, Burrito, Bowl, etc). When they announced that they were doing a lunch menu I was so excited! and I have since tried new foods from them and LOVED them. The Masala Dosa is my absolute favorite though, it's so warming and comforting. I highly recommend checking it out! (minus 1 star only because their dinner menu is hit or miss).
Read moreUPDATE: The past couple times I've gone i've gotten dairy yogurt not vegan when I asked specifically for it to be vegan. The owner always makes sure it's vegan so if you see him you know it's good. and I know it's dairy because it is thicker than the vegan yogurt is. If in doubt just don't eat the yogurt....some lunch menu items (samosa chaat) come topped with yogurt so i suggest to ask for no yogurt to be safe.

Pros: Most things can be modified to be vegan, Friendly Staff, Refills on the Thali!!!
Cons: Cramped Dining, even in the market., Have been served dairy yogurt multiple times.

Hidden gem - Edit
We loved this place. The owner is friendly and interesting to talk to. Food is sourced from local farmers. Recipes are his grandmothers. Menu is 99% vegan we just had to substitute the yoghurt. Obviously that could change so do check on the day.

Unlimited Goodness - Edit
Thali is located in downtown Reno and is one of the best Indian/Nepalese spots I've had in a very long time. Mostly because they did all the work in helping me decide what I wanted to eat.
Read moreI absolutely love this concept of paying for a set meal and being able to enjoy all the different dishes made by the chefs. For less than $20, you are able to have a meal that's "unlimited" consisting of various Indian dal, curries, yogurt, etc. served with roti flat bread. You can ask for more and enjoy it as much as you'd like, and end the meal with some dessert.
For me, I wasn't comfortable dining in due to the small enclosed space, so we did end up ordering two portions to go. I absolutely loved the veggies and curries that we had, but was left feeling hungry since I would've totally asked for more if I were dining inside. You have to decide for yourself what that comfort level is and trust your gut.
I would love to come back in the future and dine in to really experience their flavors to the fullest extent.
Pros: Unlimited side dishes with the thali

Home-like feel - Edit
Thali's concept is like going to a friend's house for dinner - they know your dietary restrictions, and they make you a plate to eat, and they make you what they make you and you eat what you like and leave the rest. The ordering process is very simple this way, with having to put no thought in other than vegan/vegetarian/gf (how refreshing!) and you can trust that you'll be given a plate of fresh, seasonal foods that are made with love. The roti is delicious and so is kheer. The price is very reasonable and the ambience is great

Love them so much, they catered our wedding - Edit
Thali is an independently owned restaurant featuring authentic Indian cuisine cooked by an Indian mama herself. Always seasonal, mostly organic, and use local produce to the greatest extent possible. I can't say enough nice things, they will accommodate gluten-free and vegan folx easily. Plus, it's in West St Market, so you can mix and match meals for your group from multiple places. They have a fixed menu every night, but it's all you can eat, where they keep coming by with refills.

Vegetarian BUFFET with Vegan options - Edit
Had very unique vegan Indian options that I never tried before, so that was enjoyable! Decent prices especially for all you can eat and Really like their restaurant setup. Love Indian buffets especially being that this one is mostly vegan friendly. The only thing I experienced was the service could’ve been a little better, they don’t let the customers serve themselves and the server only came out twice to see if I wanted more food from the buffet, I had to wait a really long time which was unpleasant.

Best indian place in town! - Edit
I absolutely love this place, easily one of my favorite spots in Reno. Can't beat incredible all you can eat vegan Indian food!
Read moreThe fixed menu changes regularly. So each plate comes with three entrees, roti, rice, yogurt (vegan option available) pickled veg, salad, and a dessert (usually rice pudding). It's really great getting to try new dishes each visit and they have yet to disappoint me in the slightest. I can't recommend Thali enough, so if you're able to, definitely give them a try.
Pros: All you can eat, All dishes can be made vegan, Best indian food in Reno

The venue is so cool and shares a community space with a bunch of small restaurants with a communal dining area. They Have two options, either the vegetarian or the vegan Thali. For 18$ The portions are unlimited and you can have as much as you want. All The ingredients are local, organic, and sourced from sustainable farms. The food is absolutely delicious, rich and flavor, and unique. Family owned and operated you can taste the care and quality they put into each of their dishes

Great Dining Experience - Edit
I love the food and concept of Thali. No menu, but all you can eat brought right to you. New dishes to try constantly and they cater to vegetarians, vegans, and GF. The cuisine is Northern Indian but the taste and feelings I get while dining here are of a home cooked meal.

Melts in your mouth - Edit
This was a delight. It offers Northern Indian cuisine nightly. All they serve for the most part is a Thali tray which you can request be served vegan instead of vegetarian. They change the items and your thali tray contains whatever they made that day.
Read moreMy first bite was of a dish with cabbage in it. I've never said this about cabbage before, but it melted in my mouth and the taste was amazing. The thali tray that evening had a cabbage (and other veggies) dish, a dal made from some kind of bean, spiced potatoes and other veggies, a coconut yogurt dish for cooling the palate (although I found the food spicy flavorful, not spicy hot), a few chopped pickled or fresh veg with some chutney and a small dessert.
It also came with two chapatis and some basmati rice.
Service was friendly, vibe felt like I was backpacking through India and overall I'm daydreaming of my next trip.
Oh! It is also all you can eat.
My one issue was that I personally did not need quite so much starch as from the chapatis and the rice. I probably could have done with one or the other. Others will love it I'm sure. They did taste great.
Pros: Wonderfully flavorful taste of India , Very filling , Friendly service, great vibe.

A lot lacking here - Edit
Service is slow and rude. Not especially fond of the rude owner we have encountered, grumpy dude ! Food is a hit or miss and so is the service with a smile. Bland or to much of the same flavor in all the dishes, soggy. The other eating establishments in this business are also vegan and better. Wine bar next door is excellent and the som knows her wine. Will not be back for "Indian Food" here.

Great find! - Edit
These guys are obviously proud of their food and it shows. We read reviews, so were expecting the service might be a little slow, but we weren’t in a hurry. The dishes were excellent and I was happy that it wasn’t particularly spicy. Price for fixed menu seemed reasonable - especially since it’s all you can eat. When we come back to Reno I am hoping We can eat here again.

Looking forward to next time. - Edit
Yep, it was great. They cook what strikes them based on availability of produce so go in prepared to be surprised. Me vegan, ma and friend not, so they had cheese and milk based yogurt, while I got vegan coconut yogurt, homemade, which was awesome. Plus, their vegan chai latte was delicious and I don't usually like chai! And, they share profits with the staff! Really great idea all around and wonderful food.

Excellent Option, We Can't Get Enough - Edit
My wife and I love this place. We only discovered it recently, as we live nearly an hour away, but we've been there twice in the last month and will make any excuse to go back. We are both vegan and my wife is gluten free, so we always have a lot of anxiety about trying to eat out in Northern Nevada. That is not a problem here. I also love the "free refills" policy, as I am a big eater. I had two refills of all four offerings last time and they were all incredible... even the rice had me wondering what that amazing flavor was... and we cook Indian food at home regularly. Help this place thrive so they can open for longer hours! I hope they extend their hours and open a location in Carson City, Minden, or Gardnerville soon.
