Something other than falafel and humus in Egypt

The place is settled in an ally and it's very peaceful. Bunch of cats welcome you if you come from the main street. There's indoor and outdoor sitting area and they both look nice. It's a restaurant on the ground floor and a cultural center should be on the upper floor, although we didn't visit it.
For appetizer we had a pate made of black olives and garlic with warm pita bread and it was delicious. For the main dish they offered few vegan options including baked vegetables with either rice or some other grains or potato, vegetable pasta was also listed on the menu. On the menu there was a mark for "Vegetarian meals" and I am not sure that they distinguish between vegetarian and vegan, but the meals looked vegan and not vegetarian to me (no cheese, cream etc., only grains/potato/vegetables) and the waiter didn't speak good English, so it was hard to get additional information. For main dish we had eggplant moussaka (made with green paprika and tomato sauce) with spiced potato and vermicelli rice and the dish was also delicious and huge portion. For me this was the best meal I had in Egypt and a refreshment from predominantly eating humus and falafels😄

Pros: Fair price, Big portions, Vegan options that are not just humus and falafel

Cons: Language barrier , Not clear what is vegan/vegetarian on the menu
