Great location good food

Only vegan dishes were Dal and Chana curries as other reviews.

Naan cannot be made vegan by removing ghee though - they mix this with egg.

Vegetable curry

An average Indian restaurant with a veg curry on the menu plus your standard meat options. To me the place had a strangely uncomfortable atmosphere, Although I can’t pinpoint why.

Authentic curry

Available vegan options are Dal and Chana curry with rice. Make sure not to order lunch set or ask them to leave away the dressing as it's made with mayonnaise. Naan is made with milk and egg so not vegan either.
Had Dal curry, was really good.

Pros: cheap, speak english

Cons: naan is made with milk and egg

My go to place for dinner.

Finding somewhere for dinner can be difficult in Aomori but Taji is one place I know I can always get a good vegetarian meal. The staff are very friendly and do their best to help you.

Pros: Great food., Friendly staff.

Very flavorful vegan options!

We got the Vegan Chana Curry and Dal Curry, with medium spice in both. We haven't been happier for a meal! It was very flavorful, inexpensive, and had huge portions. The saffron rice was extra but that's entirely fine since it was a big portion. We asked for to-go boxes because there was a lot and we wanted to finish it the next night, yet later weren't sure if that was okay to ask for.

Pros: huge portions, inexpensive, flavorful

Delicious dal curry, convenient location in Aomori

This restaurant is located in a very convenient location near Aomori Station. After I explained vegan restrictions, the man who served us was very helpful in pointing out several vegan options on the menu. He informed us that the naan dough was made with eggs, so even without ghee it was not vegan. I ordered the dal curry with saffron rice. It was a delicious, filling stew made of brown lentils. I was very pleased to find such convenient vegan options in a spot I didn't expect. The prices were extremely reasonable.

Pros: Convenient, Happy to point out vegan options on the menu, Delicious

Cons: Not fully vegan/vegetarian

Good effort from a conveniently located place 便利なところで頑張っていた

While not exceptional, the vegan restaurant we wanted to go to was closed therefore we ate here. They served us non-buttered naan which was good and had several vegan options.

Nepalese near station

The restaurant is just 40m along Nikoniko dori from the Nakasan department store and has a Nepalese flag hanging outside.

Owner seemed to understand vegan concept and said he would make dishes without using ghee. The chickpea curry and the mixed vegetable curry were both good with the dry (unbuttered) nan. Very filling (one curry would be enough) and not too spicy hot, though he can make them hotter if you like it that way. Samosas also filling (had to save it for next day). Looked like there was a salad available too (saw other guests having it).

Only problem here was the owner allowed diners to smoke and one did.

Pros: food filling and tasty, close to station (5 minutes walk), reasonably priced

Cons: smoking allowed inside
