Great flavours, posher than the usual vegan fare - Edit
I went here for a Friday late lunch. The interior is attractive, spacious and relaxed. Although the very helpful waiter suggested that we order more food, in fact we just ordered one main dish and a flatbread each, and it was sufficient. Both the ‘Broccoli with black pepper sauce’ (£14) and the ‘Tofu with tomato and seaweed’ (£12) were well presented and full of flavour, deliciously umami in the case of the broccoli. The flatbreads were also good. If you’re not into wine, then the choice of drinks is a bit limited, however.
Read moreThe restaurant is lacto-vegetarian rather than vegan, but of the 11 main dishes on the menu, 7 were vegan, so it’s still a pretty good choice. I’ll happily go back and try more of the menu.
August 2024 update: I went for a Friday evening dinner, and tried two more dishes. ‘Tofu with gochujang and sesame’ (£12) was very tasty and a bit spicy. ‘Beansprouts with pickled chilli and garlic’ (£9) was a cold salad-type dish and was very spicy but also good. The place was very busy, of course we had to reserve, and the service was ideal. The number of vegan dishes on the menu seemed to be lower than before, however, and sadly the baba ganoush has dairy yogurt in it. For two people, three of the main dishes plus one rice and one flatbread is more than enough.

Worth the money - Edit
This place is expensive (especially the wine) but it’s absolutely worth the treat every once in a while. They’re not relying on fake meats/cheeses for the dishes at all, and they’re curated wonderfully. So so tasty, if a little spicy! Lovely space too.

Delicious menu with lots of choice - Edit
We ate at Sylvan for my partner's birthday and had a fantastic meal. We chose 3 main plates and 2 smaller sides, plus dessert, particularly enjoyed the green beans. Good amount of vegan choice on a menu that changes daily, but would have appreciated a choice of vegan desserts.

Vegetarian restaurant with many creative vegan dishes (we particularly loved the tofu, brussels sprouts and broccoli dishes). The flavours were all fantastic and we were impressed by the very quick service. Lovely staff and a beautiful interior. A little expensive, but otherwise perfect.

The plate sizes are large, lovely to share all food. The dishes were all delicious, made me smile. Stand out dishes were the green beans and the fried goats cheese. Wine was lovely!

We thought that the service and atmosphere was really super here. The dishes we enjoyed the most were the polenta with mushrooms, the tofu with fenugreek, the smoked olives and the broccoli.

Absolutely amazing!!!!! - Edit
This was a true five star meal - the flavours were incredible and so interesting, like nothing we’d eaten before! Additionally, the wines were fantastic, the staff were so lovely, the atmosphere was relaxed but also sophisticated, and every bite felt like an experience. I WISH I could cook like this!!! Absolute must visit for Glasgow veggies. Warning tho that the salt and chilli padron peppers were rly spicy 🥵

Amazing!! - Edit
We walked in at half past 3 in the afternoon during the week, not quite knowing what to expect. The menu is small but every single dish we tried was bursting with wonderfully unique and complex flavours and was cooked and presented to perfection. What a find! The ambiance and music were relaxed with very friendly and attentive staff. We definitely have found our new favourite place in Glasgow to go out for a meal. Can’t wait to come back!

Delicious new flavours - Edit
We ordered the tofu, the green beans and the bean sprouts, along with some flatbread. They all tasted incredible but the bean sprouts really stood out, I’ve never had bean sprouts like that before! They were pickled and spicy and incredibly moreish, just a banger of a dish. We also ordered the rice pudding and I’d go back for that alone - just delicious. Lots of natural wines to try, and interesting ciders. We also sampled a few of the cocktails which were really lovely too. It was a special celebration so not the cheapest but it could easily be an affordable meal out without the drinks or dessert. I thought the portions were pretty generous for tapas style.

Very tasty food - Edit
Don’t get me wrong we really enjoyed what we had. Everything was really flavourful however, for what we had it was very expensive. We were still a bit hungry afterwards. Lovely choice of wines and beers. I also felt the tables were too close together and I felt uncomfortable to begin with as you could hear the other tables conversations word for word.

Cost £11 for a single slice of sour dough and a tomato and a half. Never good to leave a £35 lunch still hungry.

Out of this world wine bar - Edit
Sylvan was a wonderful evening, with mind-blowing flavours and food on every plate and delightfully casual and warm yet refined and cool ambience and service. We were blown away by the creative varied dishes. And simply hope the Sylvan team might bring their immense concept (trendy vegan wine bar!?) and magical culinary skills to London sometime soon - it would be #1 restaurant in London, leave alone Glasgow. You must go NOW #Veganuary

vegetable forward delicious tapas - Edit
wow this place really lit me up! i’ve been traveling for a week and have been really missing vegetables - this really hit the spot! whoever recommended the chopped salad with peanuts was spot on, the dressing was light and tart and delicately layered. I’m a vegetarian and two of my fave dishes had dairy but there were so many to choose from for all dietary restrictions! i can’t recommend it enough!

Flavorful, delicious, friendly - Edit
Of the several vegan-friendly restaurants in Glasgow, this is the one that would be a priority to visit again if/when I return to the city. I loved the flavorful food, the ability to try so many different small plates, and the atmosphere. I understand the menu changes often, but if they have it, get the chopped salad with peanuts and basil - everyone of my party agreed it was fantastic! The cocktails are excellent, too.

Absolutely delicious - so nice to find veggie / vegan fine dining. We ordered 3 big plates and a couple of small ones between us which was about right. Menu was approx half vegan. Extra points for being dog friendly too (until 6pm!) and for the nice setting - spacious and lots of plants.

Such a great addition to Glasgow. The menu is vegetable based small/sharing plates. Everything is vegetarian with about half the dishes also being vegan. The food was incredible and so flavourful. I went with a meat eater who also loved it.
