Unique communal dining experience - Edit
Loved it!! I went for my early 2 year veganniversary and was a bit nervous from reviews about the small portions but no, all the food is meant to be shared and I went home stuffed! When you come with others, they expect everyone to share their orders. I went with 2 others so we all got to sample all three meals. It was quite the unique experience and we all loved it.

Wine selection on point - Edit
Isn’t it so nice to go to a restaurant and not to think about ensuring everything is vegan, including the drinks?! The wine flights were great and the bartender was super knowledgeable. Food was yummy, though seasonal so about half the menu was not available when we were there.

Great small plate offerings - Edit
Very flavorful and rich, we ordered the fancy nachos, the hummus and the fig olive tapenade. Also the corn blueberry ice cream, the vanilla ice cream and chocolate cake. All quite delicious. Our server and the bar tender were very nice and friendly, and helpful about describing drinks and dishes. Intimate environment. I’m from out of town but if I come back to Milwaukee I will definitely go back.

Pricey but palate pleasing - Edit
While the prices were on the higher side and portions were relatively small, the atmosphere made up for it. The place has a cool vibe with abundant plants, nice lighting, and an inclusive environment. The eggplant orzo and butternut squash dip with pita bread were standout plates, and the mushroom tartine was pretty good. The baklava was a definite highlight for dessert, it was awesome, but the creme brulee I wouldn't have again (reminded me of a tart yogurt with a creme brulee top).

Perfect for a special date. I went on a bad date here last year. So, glad I came back with my love. This place is so much better with someone who will share everything with you. I’m certain not everyone will have some one spoon feed them the amazing chocolate cake to make the dinner as enjoyable as mine was, but even with good friends this is a tapa place where every dish is meant to be shared. Each dish is a unique take on complex proteins— what it means to be a vegan without any processed fake meat-ish substances. It lights my tastebuds.
Read moreWe’re not wine people; we’re usually beer people. They have decent beers on tap, but we went with the craft cocktails and were not disappointed. I had the never ending summer. I loved the flower ice cube. So cute.
Pros: Lovely cocktails , Lovely desert , Amazing vegan cheese plates for sharing.
Cons: Cost. , Parking

culinary plant-based experience - Edit
Nestled in a charming location, this cute restaurant with an interesting interior offers even outdoor seating. The comprehensive wine and cocktail offerings leave no palate unsatisfied, with even includes kombucha on tap.
Read moreFor the culinary enthusiasts seeking a plant-based experience, this restaurant meets the expectations. Each dish showcases an intricate tapestry of flavors, crafted with care and thoughtfulness. We shared 3 plates and the portion sizes proved more than sufficient to satiate our appetites.
The attentive server added an extra touch of sweetness to our dining experience. While the price range may lean towards the higher end, it remains justified by the exceptional quality of the freshly prepared and flavorful dishes.
Even the name of the desserts, such as ‚adaptogenic chocolate cake‘ and the ‚kombucha float with cashew ice cream‘ leave us eager to return and explore more. It’s definitely a place for something or someone special.
Pros: intricate tapestry of flavors, Comprehensive wine menu , Very sweet staff

A real Restaurant, vs processed vegan fast food joints! - Edit
Very thoughtful and unique creations. Yeah its quite expensive, considering the size of the portions and I think that stops most folks going there regularly - but really, it's such a relief to find an actual vegan restaurant ... I get so fed up with all these vegan places that are basically frying up different commercial processed faux meats etc, typically slapping such in a white bread bun ... and not offering any vegetables or expressions of actually educated cooking skills! And those places are also not cheap, and definitely not healthy! Yeah ... so I would definitely make it a point to return here whenever I visit Milwaukee ...

Note: They pay their entire staff $15/hr and you will see a 20% service charge on your bill. This is how they pay that wage, which is fantastic. They do not expect additional tips.

Good food, poor value - Edit
I've enjoyed the food I've eaten here, though I can't recall any particular dish calling me back for another try. Flavors are satisfactory and ingredient choices are rather unique. Portion sizes relative to their pricing leave a lot to be desired. The dining area is quite small so I imagine it's booked regardless. Take a nice date here for the right day, but keep looking if you want to ensure a table and a full belly.

Perfect For A Special Night On The Town - Edit
Vegan food is becoming more and more available in Milwaukee, so I was really excited to hear about yet another vegan/vegetarian restaurant opening here. This is definitely a place to check out if you're vegan/vegetarian, but be warned - IT IS PRICEY! And the plates are small for the price you pay. But it's worth it if you choose carefully. Both of us really liked our meals, excellent flavors, beautiful presentation, charming atmosphere, friendly and fast service. The place is smaller than I expected, based on all the rave reviews I'd heard, I guess I just pictured it larger in my head. But it's definitely a place to go if you want an intimate, romantic dinner, a special place to go on a special occasion. I'd give it 5 Stars if the pricing was a bit more in my range so that I could come here frequently.

A rip off - Edit
This place is ridiculous. We ordered egg rolls and patatas bravas. The egg rolls were $11, and it was literally TWO egg rolls cut in half. They tasted like someone had just discovered ginger, because that was basically the only flavor. And the exterior was burnt in parts.
Read moreThe patatas bravas were about $15. It was a plate of boiled, cubed potatoes with romesco and cashew cream, and a few flower petals on top. The potatoes weren't browned and crispy at all. I've had better potatoes for a third of the price at any breakfast place.
The bottles of wine were half off, because it was Wednesday. However, since bottles of wine are $60 usually, we skipped it. Our server immediately cooled on us when we opted out of ordering alcohol.
There were also what appeared to be colorful fur coats hanging by the bathroom, which was odd for July at a vegan restaurant.
We'd eaten at Odd Duck the night before, which has a similar small plates set-up & prices. But Odd Duck was a world away better & worth every last penny. It's a pity, because Strange Town is completely vegan, but I can't imagine ever eating there again.
After our dinner here, we had leftover pizza at home.

Not sure where else in this town you can find a bartender like Jonathan that can make a hundred high-end craft cocktails. The food menu is fantastic and unique and paired with your food, if you choose. Seriously, where can you get vegan crème brûlée?

Interesting Drinks - Edit
This place has a lot of unique and fun cocktails. We had orange wine, a few of the house cocktails, and a hard kombucha everything was excellent. They have small plates which are great for sharing. The small plates we tried were the nachos and the Gobi Manchurian. The nachos were delicious and the Gobi Manchurian was just the right amount of spicy. Would definitely love to come back.

Amazing Vegan Bar - Edit
This completely vegan bar is such a cool spot and I would definitely recommend. The staff was incredibly kind and knowledgeable and the extent of their bar/wine/cocktail list was truly impressive. Their food menu consists of sharable appetizers and everything we had was delicious. It is a bit on the pricier side if you decide to hunker down there, but definitely worth it for a special occasion or even just for one or two drinks

Solid Menu Decent Tunes - Edit
This place his hit or a good b-side. I use this analogy because they have a dj providing musical accompaniment with the meal. The menu changes and the flavors sometimes deliver and sometimes it is simply a good effort. But a good effort is not a complaint. It is just not what you may have been looking for. Check them out for lunch or dinner for a great meal and a great place for conversation. Most of the djs play their music at the right volume for a listening to your guest or just settling into the ambience.

Flavorful Food & Great Restaurant Vibe - Edit
I have been vegan all my life and have had difficulty finding restaurants that serve great tasting food. This restaurant served flavorful food, great tasting cocktails, and awesome dessert. I LOVED all the dishes we ordered. We ordered the samosas, carrot queso dip, mojo de ajo potatoes, jamuk bop, olives, and coconut creme brûlée. I wish I took pictures of all the food to post however we were so busy eating I didn’t have time. I usually do not like vegan desserts however I will forever CRAVE the coconut brûlée. This dessert is one of two desserts I would give five stars. The other dessert is the carrot cake at Seabirds in Newport Beach, CA. The staff was nice and helpful when asking for food recommendations. I cannot wait to eat here again.

Delicious and unique - Edit
We shared five plates plus cocktails and dessert between four adults for a surprisingly low bill. Everything was delicious and unique and filling. As a long time vegan, when I eat out I’m seeking dishes that I don’t already make at home. Strange Town did not disappoint. The delightful staff was an added bonus. Reservations recommended. It’s deservingly popular.

I loved Strange Town for a multitude of reasons. First! It was Milwaukee’s first full vegan restaurant! Second! The vibes are great. Third! The staff is super awesome & kind. They were happy to answer any & all of questions. I went back immediately after having Strange Town for the first time. I even had my birthday dinner here & it was fantastic! Highly recommend.
