Tasty but difficulty in communication - Edit
Everything I ordered was very tasty. Communication was a bit difficult, I felt like the waiter was just saying yes to everything I said 🙈. Pretty sure though everything was actually vegan and I was always offered more sauce/dip without extra costs.

Good local food - Edit
Large choice but not labelled as vegan, all vegetarian. The waiter understood we wanted no ghee/yoghurt. We both got one of the small plates which was very filling! 3 types of rice, dhal and another couple of veg curries and a bread. Very good value, really cheap!

Local cuisine - Edit
I had the masala dosai and it was delicious! This was the cheapest meal we had in Sri Lanka and I can really recommend eating there! The only thing that confused me was that you could eat certain meals only on certain floors.

Very good food for good prices - Edit
We came here and got a Dosa and it was very good. The staff was friendly and the food was not expensive at all. Felt like a local place to me, not like the typical restaurants made for tourists.

Delicious ! - Edit
I had the madras meal (which is similar to a thali with lots of different curries in small pots and a popadom), I asked for it without dairy/ the buttermilk and they were able to do that. My partner had the masala dosa and was also very impressed. Very tasty curries. The potatoes were delicious. Very nice people.

Cons: Toilets aren’t the nicest

Good pure veg options, some can be made vegan - Edit
The food here is quite good, and for a good price. I especially liked the dosas, which were large and served with good sauces, and the chilli parotta, which was big and filling. Short eats like vadai and bonda are also available in large supply and should be vegan. I found it a little difficult to get across that I was vegan, but managed to get there eventually.

Good food - Edit
Food was good but I came for a dosa and after waiting for a bit, was told no dosa. I had a Madras meal after that (first day here so told them to just feed me whatever) and it came to 400. Which is more than the buffet upstairs according to here.

Nice Place - Edit
Nice South Indian veg restaurant on 4 floors (including G/F). Last floor is a buffet at 350Rs which was excellent with a large variety of different dishes. But you can also get dosa if you go to 2/F. Recommended.

Decent little place. - Edit
I visited Sriyani because I was staying fairly near it. When I arrived, it was fairly busy, so I shared a table with two other people on the second floor.
Read moreI had a thali with a range of dishes. It appears to be all you can eat, with staff bringing further food around. Not that you'll need it, as the standard serve is massive.
It's vegan, other than for the raita.
I don't think that the 'moderate' price range is accurate. I paid around USD 2 for a massive meal, which included dessert and a piece of fruit.
As a non-local, be prepared to be stared at a little, and be a source of amusement if you decline cutlery (as I did) to eat like everybody else.
It's worth seeking out.
Pros: Excellent value, Decent quality
Cons: Very busy
