Nourishing and cheap!

I told the lady I am vegan (in Spanish) and she knew immediately what that was and told me what as vegan. my mail was tasty and cheap. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. in Iquitos most of the vegetarian options can be easily made vegan. They are not big dairy consumers so its mostly eggs to look out for. Dairy is expensive for the locals because they don't have cows.

Pros: Vegan friendly

Basic and cheap vegie food in Iquitos

Vegetarian food in an easy to find location, was easily made vegan for me. The day I went I got a salad, soup and main plate of vegies and mashed potato and spinach for 9 soles. It was filling but not super inspiring and everything was kind of warm and a little bit sad (including the salad and apple juice).

I found other places around were better for vegie food after that, including all the amazing tropical fruit you can buy so cheaply on the side of the road, but I was glad there was somewhere so easy to find on the first day I arrived in Iquitos.

Pros: Easy to find, Filling, Cheap

Cons: Pretty bland food, Juice was warm and slightly fermented

Good, basic food

This little vegetarian restaurant is located right on a very busy corner in Iquitos. There's no sign over the door, but they hang the menu board just inside the doorway. As of February 2014, the meal of the day is 9 soles (approx US$3.20). They have 5 tables, and they will also pack the food to go for an additional 2 soles. They also serve breakfast for 5 soles (lunch starts at noon). At any time of the day they will also make you juice, fruit salads, veggie salads, veggie quiche, etc. I found the food to be good, basic cuisine. The location is good; not far from many of the hotels where a tourist would likely be staying (located at the corner of Arica & Morona).

Pros: Price, Good basic food, Convenient location

Cons: Noisy dining room (from traffic)
