Nice and quick but not many options - Edit
Cheap, quick and okay food. Not mind blowing but a good option as it is located in Chinatown. Only one option (as mentioned) of Bibimbap. Which is technically Korean rather than Chinese 😅

Mapotofu con carne. Solo hay un plato anunciado en la segunda planta como vegano - Edit
Entramos pensando que habría opciones por la descripción del restaurante en HappyCow, pero al pedir mapotofu y noodles con puerros, todo llevaba carne.

center of China Town - Edit
There's a Muslim friendly menu (date: 02/2023), which includes a vegan Bibinba (really nice); apart from that, there are not many options. If you're in a rush and want to enjoy a view of Chinatown, this may come in handy!

Affordable and rather quick dinner - Edit
Sario is almost like a Chinese fast food joint that has a couple of branches in Yokohama. I went to the one in Chinatown, and it's located on the second floor of, what I assume, a Heichinrou-group building.
Read moreThe first floor sells all different kinds of steamed bun, and a coffee shop.
During my visit, there were three main vegan dishes: ma bo han (mapo tofu with rice), rice and vegetables, and noodle with vegetables. For dessert, the vegan option is soy milk mochi ice cream.
As a big fan of mapo tofu with white rice, the ordering procedure is similar to ordering in a fast food joint; you choose what you like on the menu, pay, get a ticket with a number on it, and when your food is ready, the staff will call your number.
After waiting for 3 minutes, my ma bo han is ready (I think it was re-heated in the microwave).
I was a bit disappointed that there aren't enough tofu cubes (at least for me) and the rice to mapo tofu ratio is a bit off; there is slightly too much rice. However, since I prefer a smaller meal portion for dinner, for me, the portion size ma bo han from Sario is perfect, although I would suggest to them to go harder on the tofu.
In terms of taste, it's alright. It's not spicy, and there is no noticeable 'kick' from the spices, but at least it's not bland. The taste of doubanjiang is also more subtle than I expected. The highlight of the dish for me is the diced mushroom that adds a meaty texture to the dish. Still, it tasted good when combined with steamed white rice.
I wish there were more Sario branches in Yokohama, so I can have quick mapo tofu noms wherever I want :)
