Relaxing stay - Edit
We stayed at Saorsa 1875 for 2 nights, and chose to dine in each night. Both nights were delicious with completely different menus (just some ingredient crossover due to the use of seasonal ingredients), and we throughly enjoyed the experience.
Read moreWe stayed in one of the cheaper & smaller rooms, which suited us perfectly (more money to spend on cocktails in the bar). The room was simple but lovely, the bathroom was a bit out of keeping style wise, but perfectly functional.
The hotel itself has loads of lovely areas for you to relax, the hideouts in the beautiful garden were a lovely surprise.
We also had the packed lunch one day, which is expensive at £12 pp, but delicious. And we were happy that although we could have picked something else up much more cheaply, it would not have been anywhere near as nice.
All in all a lovely and relaxing stay, and such a novelty not to have to check ingredients on toiletries and at the bar!
Pros: Vegan bar!
Cons: Expensive

A night in Vegan Heaven - Edit
For our Scottish staycation we went to Saorsa 1875 to experience true vegan luxury and they did not disappoint. From the friendly staff to the exquisite room, the homely atmosphere and natural surroundings to the unforgettable dining experience. Beautifully fresh, local and mostly organic ingredients turned into simple yet exquisite vegan courses. We returned another day for lunch - which you can have even if you don't stay at the hotel - and we had a delicious celeriac soup and possibly the best vegan burger of our lives. Saorsa 1875 invites you to slow down, disconnect from the frantic day-to-day and enjoy the good life with a good book, a board game or a cuddle with one of the resident dogs. We recommend it to anyone who would like to treat themselves to a luxury getaway and we will be visiting again when we get the chance.

I couldn't agree more, Niall!!! We did want to stay for several days more. It was a treat from the moment we entered the property. We loved settling in, having a drink at the bar, going to dinner with new vegan friends and feasting on the 5-course gourmet meal. It was heaven. The breakfast the next day was also superb and we thought that perhaps we would find such wonderful soft/crispy vegan bread, butter and jam all over Scotland. Nope! That was the one place. Plus, we got to chat with the owners and have some dog cuddles. What a great start to our Scotland trip with you as our guide. We will return!

Do it! - Edit
Great interior, great food, great people. This lovely family run establishment offers what every vegan heart craves: finally a place where you get more than vegan burgers and curries and meet a lot of interesting and easy going people. The menu varies every night (there is just one menu) and only uses locally sourced and seasonal produce. They even bake their own bread. If you get a chance stay for the night since the rooms are lovely and the breakfast is awesome as well.

Relaxing. - Edit
First time in a vegan hotel and I loved it. The room was simple and calm, the entire hotel environment was relaxing and cozy and the staff and the owner, Sandra (if I'm correct) was lovely, always very friendly and chatty. She walked me to my room, gave me a brief info about the hotel, and breakfast. I felt very welcomed. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I didn't try the food, however, that gives me a reason to come back.

Fabulous! - Edit
If you want to treat yourself to some ethical vegan luxury in Scotland you won't go far wrong at Saorse 1875. Beautiful Victorian house on the edge of Pitlochry and with country walks on the doorstep. Use the train or bus to travel further afield. John, Sandra and Jack are really welcoming hosts, Roxy and Lissie - the resident vegan dogs - have great characters, the bedrooms are lovely, the bar is well stocked and the food is amazing, chef Luca Sordi has really pulled out the stops to create his menu, which changes every day and is based on whatever is seasonal with as much as possible sourced locally. Dining is around a large table so you really get to chat with other guests. Can't wait to come back.

Vegan luxury! - Edit
This hotel is clearly a labour of love! The detail and decor is absolutely beautiful. The bar area is my favourite, all of the furniture, art work and even the drinks behind the bar all make for a beautiful place to sit and enjoy a few drinks before and after dinner.

Not great value for money though the food was excellent. - Edit
The evening meal was sublime and I loved the communal aspect of it. However some confusion over the message of my late arrival not being passed on so I missed the first course. The room I felt was very simple compared to elsewhere I have stayed. No plant milk in the room for drinks, no hangers in the wardrobe and no tissues. There was however chocolate in the room and I loved the huge fluffy towel, cool stripey hand towel and mosaic tiled bathroom floor, very cool as was the decor throughout the hotel. Due to my late arrival I didn't ask for the missing things. The bed was maybe the most comfortable I have ever slept on in spite of only being a single and no bedside cabinet (there wasn't really the room for one). Most surprising of all was that the breakfast was a continental buffet though an amazing one with croissants and lattes I do prefer a cooked breakfast when away from home. An amazing building though and quiet and comfortable during the night.

🌟A gem in the Highlands🌟 - Edit
From the moment we entered the front door of this gorgeous family run boutique hotel, we were greeted with such a warm welcome, I fell instantly in love with this place!
Read moreRoxy and Lizzie, the two resident dogs were such characters, and made the hotel feel like a home from home.
From the cruelty free soap and cosmetic products to the cosy blankets and super plush pillows, the attention to detail is second to none.

Luca, the chef has taken vegan dining to a different level, and his culinary skills are quite exceptional... thank you Luca!
The breakfast was fresh and healthy with so much choice from freshly baked crusty bread with vegan honey, to perfectly baked croissants and homemade jams.
If you stay here, prepare to be spoiled!

Wonderful stay! - Edit
We spent a weekend at Saorsa 1875 in July and had the most wonderful time. The evening meal was incredible, so special. And the breakfast was amazing too. The people running the hotel were very friendly, and what they are doing there is really special. So lovely to have the opportunity to stay somewhere 100% vegan and spend time with like-minded people. The even had 2 resident dogs who were gorgeous! Can't way to go back.

Outstanding - Edit
We found this incredible place by chance and it is a true revelation - simply the best vegan food we ever had. Each of the five courses was a masterpiece which bore testament of the Chef‘s outstanding skills. The starter was a Watermelon sashimi with lime-mayonnaise and tiny tapioca crackers. The melon had a perfect texture and all tastes very absolutely clear - amazing. It was followed by bread (made by the Chef) with almond-infused ‚butter‘. I liked most (but every course was to die for) the smoked carrot soup with whisky foam and burnt orange which came next. The main dish was a courgette, basil and buckwheat Crêpe with a hay-infused panna cotta as desert. Ever single course is worth traveling to Pitlochy. The setting itself is remarkable as well, sitting with all other guests at a large table which inevitably leads you to mingle and share this experience with each other.

Vegan Hotel / Restaurant Worth Planning Trip Around - Edit
I feel so fortunate to have learned about this hotel / restaurant during my stay in Pitlochry and to have had the pleasure of eating dinner here. The premise and decor is modern and distinctive with an impressive attention to detail. Dinner is a culinary and social experience in which ten or so guests per night eat around a communal table and journey through a five course menu prepared daily by the chef. As a result we were able to meet some lovely people—some fellow travelers, but also some local folks interested in the new place in town, which was great to see. Dinner was exquisite and delicious. My only regret is that I didn’t learn about this place early enough to book a room because I would love to have breakfast there. I would go so far as to say that I will plan my next trip to Scotland around going through Pitlochry so that I can stay at this place. If you are traveling through this area and have the means (and are a Happy Coe user), you simply have to come here. Cheers!

First Fully Vegan UK Hotel - Edit
We have just returned from a wonderful week-end spent at Saorsa 1875. Everything was fantastic! We are so pleased that we were able to be part of this historic event - the opening of the first fully vegan hotel in the UK! Jack and Sandra were excellent hosts, Luka created delicious food (enjoyed not only by me but also by my non-vegan husband) and Celine (? spelling) looked after us, too. We enjoyed chatting during dinner and breakfast to family members and other guests. Cocktails, toiletries, treats in our room and 4 legged therapy in the form of Lizzy and Roxy - we loved it all. Jim and I are looking forward to returning.
