Came here twice during our stay, didn’t need to make a reservation. The food was all delicious, not quite as good as Rotas but close! The staff all seem really happy and genuinely enthusiastic. The service was efficient. The only thing that would improve the experience would be to label the vegan/veganisable options on the menu. Had the vegan wines labelled which was great.

we only tried two vegan-friendly restaurants on sao miguel. i don't think fully vegan exists. i prefer the other restaurant but santo seitan was good. the food was good. the service was good. the decor is a bit lacking. but the food and service make up for it. just tell them you are vegan or you want everything vegan.

You have for dinner to make a reservation. They open at 18:00 and the kitchen at 18:30, I had very good vegan food. Little pricy.

I kept trying to come to this place, but it was always closed until one day while going somewhere I randomly passed it, and it was open! (working hours on this island are as random as it comes)
Read moreThey didn't really have many options from the lunch menu, so I ordered tofu curry. The presentation was really good, but this was one of the more modest-sized meals and I quite soon was hungry again. The taste was also so so, I feel like it was more about the presentation and textures than the taste 🤷♀️
All in all, if you are deciding where to go - Rotas or here, 100% go to Rotas!

If you're a vegan this is such a great place to get tasty food away from home. The staff were really welcoming and helpful too. Strongly recommend the vegan sushi, fried mushrooms, seitan curry and tofu with potatoes.

Most things on the menu were vegetarian but almost anything could be made vegan on request. The staff was very helpfull and friendly! We had the tofu, which was very good although the portion size could have been bigger.

Santo seitan did not have seitan available at the Moment (😬). I had the Tofu Curry dish which was good but so small for 14€ and keep in mind That I had eaten 3 hours earlier so wasnt That hungry. Not really satisfied but still great to visit a veggie restaurant abroad.

Went here for lunch and ordered two mains: tofu in curry and mandarin sauce, forofa with cashew nut & roasted sweet potato seitan, yam and mushrooms with regional sauce, filo & vegetarian sausage & turnip and arugula salad. Both were delicious and well presented. Staff were very helpful. The food is vegetarian as a default with some dishes being vegan and most that can be veganised. They didn’t have any vegan desserts when we were there (they’d just reopened and hadn’t got fully restocked) but they usually have a lot of vegan cakes & cheesecakes.

Middle-sized restaurant, mostly vegetarian. Some are completely vegan. The veggie dishes could be done vegan as well if you want - you just need to ask.

A cute little restaurant which felt very old fashioned upon entry. It was also very quiet when we arrived but the staff were lovely and made great food recommendations. All but one of the mains are/can be made vegan. The staff spoke great English too which was helpful in checking what was vegan.

New veggie spot in town - Edit
We went twice to Santo Seitan in our one-week-stay at Sao Miguel as we fell in love with their mushroom starter. Champignons in a full of umami broth with crispy white bread tasted just like the mussels if we remember correctly 😅 Me and my husband were blown away by this meal which was also very filling and a good value for 5 euros. We also had the menu of the day which was baked veggies - it was OK and bean soups that were great. Another day we had the tofu in curry and mandarin sauce which wasn't that good to be honest (small portion and undercooked batatas) and pricey for what it was. For the same price (14 euros) we got the seitan, yam and mushrooms with regional sauce and that one was so much better, bigger and well served. I would sure come again but would want to check ahead what they are having on that day. Menu changes every couple of months. They also have Berlin/Portuguese limo "Why not" which I recommend to try.

The restaurant is fully vegetarian but not overly vegan oriented. I don't think any of the menu options were vegan except the ramen perhaps. All the rest had eggs, cream, and cheese. I ordered the risotto without the dairy and it was okay. The portion sizes are a bit small, my friend ended up ordering a starter after finishing her risotto. But, as there aren't many veggie choices on the island it was great to see a vegetarian restaurant and we were happy to see it was quite busy when we were there!

Delicious meal! The menu is mainly vegetarian with a few vegan options. As a starter we tried the tofu paté which was really good as a main they had the tofu sauté as a vegan option. It took them quite some time to serve the food, but it was delicious
