Authentic Indian food!

I totally agree with Ellay concerning this restaurant. The food is an Indian authentic one even though less spicy, really inexpensive, generous portions and tasty. Staff is friendly but you have to ask carefully for dishes with no milk products (don't use the word "dairy" but "milk") if you are vegan and avoid dishes with the following words:

Curd/Dahi (yoghourt)
Doodh (milk)
Makkan (butter)
Ghee (clarified butter)
Paneer (cheese)
Malai (cream)
Raita (yoghourt)
Lassi (drink with yoghourt).

The place is well located near Gare du Nord and you can take away, which is convenient if you take the train.

Pros: authentic Indian food, vegetarian, with vegan dishes, friendly staff, convenient

Cons: beware of dairy if you are vegan

tasty dosa

Being a few doors down from Saravana Bhavan and near Gare du Nord, I had to try this place! I just tried dosa and samosa. They were tasty and like the usual South Indian good you can get in India. The pastry on the samosa was different but they were still tasty and full of flavour.

Great authentic Indian food but not for vegan

Conveniently located near Gare du Nord, cared by welcoming friendly staff, full of Indian customers, you're sure to find authentic traditional Indian food.
100% vegetarian, lots of choice, not expensive, they care for all your needs. It is less spicy than what you would find in India.
However the choice for vegan is hard. Most of the food is made with ghee (clarified butter) or butter (even plain naan bread). They don't understand what it is to be vegan and came back to me with a list of meals without onions. I was lucky to have with me an Indian friend who could explain them what it was to be vegan. We could finally find a few vegan choices. And I really enjoyed it.

I think it is the best Indian food in the area and vegetarian people can really enjoy it, but be extra careful if you're vegan.
