Small vegetarian restaurant where most of the menu is clearly labeled vegan, plus most of the vegetarian dishes can be made vegan upon request. Serving plenty of veganized local dishes like nasi lemak plus a wide range of Western (inspired) dishes. Open Tue-Sat 10:30am-7:30pm. Closed Sun-Mon.

ahimsa

Unfortunately I found ants on my food. The restaurant owner offered to bring me a new plate. When I asked if the ants were saved, I was told rather rudely that this was a vegetarian restaurant and they don't kill animals there and to go back to my seat. I couldn't understand the defensiveness. Perhaps the ants were in fact simply discarded with the food. I left feeling regretful. Perhaps I should have tried saving them myself. Not everyone understands total ahimsa (non-violence) which extends to all beings.

Exquisite claypot masala

The claypot masala rice is sooooo good. Devouring it right now, could hardly wait to share. Perhaps it's just really my type of flavours, all smushed together in a cozy hot pot. Curry, potatoes, rice, choice of protein (I got tofu & tempeh; works surprisingly well in the dish), delightfully moist with happy little bits of crunchy veg. The rice is so wonderfully sauced, and the sauce wonderfully seasoned - it's almost like a risotto with innovative flavours. Utterly homey, yet deep with layers of flavour. Sensational. My server is lovely too, very professional and proactive. The dish is only RM13, and I was served a large glass of free water without asking for it. True value. Will be returning to try other dishes, no doubt.

Pros: Delicious food, Good service, Very vegan friendly

Lots of options, mostly vegan

Good range of Malaysian and Western dishes, and all the vegan ones are clearly labelled. Unfortunately the portions were a bit too small for its price.

Simple, to the point (mostly) vegan Malay restaurant

The place doesn't look like much, but once seated and looking at the menu, you should be quite excited about your meal. It's quite uncommon for non fully vegan restaurant in KL to provide clear labels on their menu about what is and isn't vegan. Saiva Kitchens is one of the exceptions: not only do they clearly indicate the vegan options, but they do the same to differentiate between veganizable and non-veganizable vegetarian dishes. All in all, most of the menu is vegan to begin with, and almost all the rest is veganizable.

The chef was friendly and provided a few recommendations. I took the Special Nasi Lemak, a small dish of tempeh, and some (mushroom) anchovies sambal. If you like spicy food, you would have loved what I got.

I look forward to visiting again. Their burger looked yummy!

update: I visited a second time and tried the burritos, it was a bit disappointing. The wraps were small and they came with uninteresting fries. Taste was ok though. I'll go back eventually to try out more food.
