Pleases everyone! - Edit
A very non-veg family member found this place a few years ago on accident. They didn’t know it’s a plant-based restaurant when they found it until they went in and looked at the menu. They decided to order anyway, and absolutely loved it! They introduced me to it when I was visiting (how cool is that to have someone non-veg introduce you to a vegan restaurant!)
Read moreI LOVE this place! Their food is just plain good. My favorite by far is the Heirloom Tomato and Garlic pizza 🤤 This was also the first place I’ve had fried artichoke hearts - also yum! The sauce they give with them is a little too sweet, but still perfect with the artichokes. Loaded nachos are also unique, flavorful, and filling!
The only miss for me so far has been their butternut squash ravioli. I wanted to like them, but they are drizzled with an unconventional cilantro something, and to me the flavors just don’t get along. I couldn’t even eat more than one, which bummed me out because I typically love butternut squash raviolis. Oh well, they can’t all be winners!
Overall, this place is great. Definitely give it a try! 😋

Probably one of the best vegan restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. The dishes are simple, yet very well made. The staff is friendly. They have this amazing hot sauce I can’t get enough of. The inside of the restaurant is well decorated.

Birthday worthy, I like it so much - Edit
I really love the Pasadena Sage because it is much larger than the Echo Park venue. It has a Great bar area with fairly comfortable seats (backs!) and a large outdoor area as well as indoor seating. today I had their new salad with crispy tofu and ranch dressing, it's kind of like a Caesar salad. It was really good.
Read moreChandler got the soul bowl which was good as well. We refrain from the pretzels today but they are a great splurge. we also got several drinks, the ginger lemon drop was really good as was the flight of margaritas. Happy birthday to me!

Some great options, some heavy & oily - Edit
This Sage location has a pleasant atmosphere and friendly service, and feels less hectic than the original location.
Read moreThe generous menu requires a bit of inquiry if you’re looking for healthier fare, because some of the dishes are heavier and oilier than one might guess. The “ravioli,” for example, are actually more like frybread sandwiches: some veggies in between oily fried flatbreads. It has plenty of good flavor, but drops in the belly like a plant-based bomb. Likewise, the fried artichoke hearts are probably the oiliest we’ve ever had. Fortunately, there are plenty of lighter items on the menu, too.
Their portions tend toward the ginormous side, so consider sharing plates (that goes for the desserts, too).

Favorite Pasadena Place - Edit
I have had the pleasure of dining here several times, and each time I have left satisfied with a full belly. The quality and quantity of delicious food served makes the somewhat pricier bill well worth it. Talk about farm-to-table—there is a seasonal menu that allows patrons to indulge in seasonal produce grown right at Sage’s farm! #Veganuary

Quality issues? - Edit
I went here around a month ago so this review is a bit delayed. We got the pulled "pork" jackfruit BBQ sandwich and it was just average, but we were more than happy to finish it since it was all we got to eat that day.
Read moreThe more disappointing items were the raw cheesecake and the heirloom tomato & garlic pizza. The raw cheesecake had the texture, flavor, and consistency of a block of butter! It was really odd and I'm still wondering how it ended up like that. Maybe it was an error with how they made that batch, but I don't know what was going on because it literally tasted like there were no other ingredients in it aside from butter.
As for the pizza, the dough was completely raw and it was piled with an outrageous amount of thick processed cheese that lacked flavor. Not processed in a yummy-junk-food type of way, but processed in a tastes-like-plastic.. is-this-food? type of way. I love huge amounts of ooey gooey cheese, but this was genuinely hard to eat. Then to make things worse, all the toppings were super watery for some reason.
I wouldn't be able to try out their food again unfortunately, it makes me lose my appetite just thinking about it.

I'm with you on that.. I'm exhausted by all the places using the word vegan when they aren't vegan. I went in a fully vegan restaurant recently and overheard the cashier saying "I love eating meat but even I like the food here!" It was just disappointing..

I play a little game with these people that I like to call: Are you vegan? The prize for the right answer is a juicy tip. If they lose, my prize is knowing they didn't spend my tip on violence. War of attrition for the animals! Vegans love this game. 😅🌈🧤

I’ve had the Heirloom Tomato and Garlic pizza twice, from two different locations. Both times the pizza was one of the best I’ve ever had. The crusts were not at all raw, the toppings were not at all watery, and the cheese didn’t taste artificial/plastic-y at all. My non-veg, picky eater niece even loves that pizza. You must have gone on a really bad day, or gotten a really lousy employee. I don’t know, but I’m sad you didn’t get the pizza in all its glory. ☹️
Read moretheNumberOfTheBeast
Pizza I had there wasn't bad tasting the couple times I tried it. But, my interaction with the managers was awful. Quote "we don't call ourselves vegan because of the negative connotation" which is lame, but also makes sense because they aren't vegan, they produce and sell honey which is neither vegan nor plant based obviously. Vegans leave animals alone.

This place is amazing - Edit
Everything is great! It’s pricey but worth it. Great place to impress non vegans.

Expected Better - Edit
I went here for brunch with family since they know I’m vegan and they heard great things about this place from other vegans, long story short our time here wasn’t as good as we expected it to be. This place is a bit too overhyped, one of our sides had hair in it and the wait time for items took a while (didn’t mind much for that.) Although, when trying to pay for our meal the employees had a much aggressive attitude rather than the waitress we had and the cooks who had delivered our food who had been much sweeter and polite. Overall, I think it was a nice experience to go and try it out just expected so much better. #Veganuary

The Best Buffalo Cauliflower - Edit
To say my family is obsessed with their Buffalo cauliflower would be an understatement. We’re convinced theirs is the best we’ve ever had. Over the summer my stepdaughter and I tried the Buffalo cauliflower pizza and we’ve been thinking about it ever since. We ordered it again yesterday and it was just as good as we remembered. This pizza is large and can definitely be shared. We also ordered the mac and cheese which was decent but not the best we’ve ever had. It was a little too warm inside the restaurant yesterday. They also seem to be struggling with staffing like most places since the service was slower and less attentive than usual. I love that the food is ethically and locally sourced and they express gratitude towards the immigrants who grow it. I wish they had a location closer to Orange County.

Food great, service iffy - Edit
I hate to say this when everyone seems to be experiencing labor shortages but the lunch service on the outside patio was not very good. The food is delicious but the chili came out cold and questions that were asked were not answered well. The service definitely affected our experience but the food was seriously so good.
