a reel/real fun night

My wife and I have been visiting Bar Harbor for a number of years - and Reel Pizza is always on our must so list. Whole wheat crust, vegan cheese substitution, fun veggie add ins - what more could one want? Draft beer is also tasty and they generally have fun movie choices at very reasonable prices.

Very tasty pizza 🍕🤤

You can order pizza with vegan mozzarella in the cinema. We choose the godfather and the casino royale pizza. Both pizzas were topped with artichokes, garlic and tomatoes. It tasted really good! 🌱🍕
They have no seating area inside! You have to eat the pizza in the beer garden in front of the cinema or order for take away.

Pros: Vegan cheese , Friendly stuff

Vegan options, cozy place for a movie

Vegan friendly place with pizza options, vegan popcorn with nooch (was ok). Staff is friendly and overall vibe is casual and homey. If you’re just looking for movie munchies it’s a decent option but if you want a proper meal, Bar Harbor has many other delicious and more exciting options.

Pros: Comfy seating , Vegan options

Cons: Food is ok, nothing earth shattering

Delicious vegan pizza

We ate here during Covid when their theatre wasn’t opened. We just went back for another takeout custom vegan pizza. Good again! I can’t wait to watch a movie too.

Vegan cheese and nutritional yeast

I ordered a veggie pizza and was happy they not only had vegan cheese but they have roasted red peppers. Too many pizzerias only carry green peppers. Additionally and surprisingly they also have nutritional yeast as a condiment alongside red pepper flakes. I enjoyed the pizza, especially the sauce.

Reel good!

We saw Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 and ordered pizza. I had the vegan cheese with pineapple and also popcorn with nutritional yeast. We loved watching the movie on a couch. Fun and great food!

Probably best to go somewhere else

They do have vegan cheese and vegan pizza, so if you’re in a crunch, or if you are a picky vegan, it’s an easy option.
The pizza wasn’t that good though, very very basic flavors. Expensive price for cheap tasting pizza.
The staff (ehh it was one dude) was knowledgeable on veganism but very vocal about “not understanding why anyone would be vegan”

Many vegan options

We ordered in Pizza from Reel Pizza Cinerama. There were many vegan options, including Daiya Cheese. The vegan pizzas were very good. The crusts, and there were 3 different options including a Gluten Free one, were excellent. So far, this was the best option for the vegans in our party in Bar Harbor. Highly recommend this place.

Pros: Very good pizzas, Lots of vegan options, Good for everyone in your party

Cons: A bit pricey.

Delicious Nachos

I only got the nachos, but they were actually really good! I’m always a little hesitant about daiya cheese, but i was pleasantly surprised. I added the tofu, which definitely added to it overall. Even though the ingredients were super simple, it was delicious. The cheese was melty and it mixed with the salsa was really good, with the added protein from the tofu. It wasn’t the most filling, but it was worth the price in my opinion.

Pizza + movies eventually

A very interesting place that is trying very hard to keep things going despite Covid. I look forward to coming back in the future when they are showing movies inside. They are currently (Summer 2020) showing outdoor movies when weather allows. The pizza was good, there is ample dining outdoors in a tented area. This place reminds me of some of the great older theaters that serve food in Portland, Oregon.

I got pizza with daiya cheese and tofu. The crust was thin and crispy and quite good but the tofu was possibly deep fried, and fried for far too long. It was beyond crispy, it was leathery and made my jaw ache. I love fried tofu but this was barely edible. Next time I'll just add vegetables for toppings.

Pros: Vegan cheese, Overall good vibes, Movies!

Cons: Service a little slow, Tofu was unfortunate

AWSOME THEATER

I came here on a college visit with my dad, this was our last day here, and my tour guide gave me two tickets so I figured I would go. We got there and they have one slice options (if your order is somthing basic like cheese pizza), a ten inch pizza, or a 14 inch pizza. They have a plethora of toppings! They have normal cost toppings ($1.50 per topping) and they have premium toppings like soy cheese ($2.00 per topping). They have a lot of other food options but the menu on their website should cover that. I just shared a ten inch vegan pizza with my dad and got a salad to go with it. They usually have one commercial movie playing and one ‘artsy’ (non traditional) movie playing. For those sitting on the couches they have standing trays in the front to use. Also they have standard movie seating and an intermission in the middle of the movie.

Pros: Great vegan pizza, Not too expensive , Aesthetic atmosphere

Cons: Not many movie options

Yum!

A group of friends and I stopped here for dinner at the last minute one night. The daiya pizzas were great and staff were accommodating.

We made the mistake of coming at about the time that the movies were starting which was a mistake as multiple people were then trying to place their orders before the movies.

Alas, we didn't have time to return for dinner during a movie but that looks like fun. Seats in the first few rows are couches with tv trays.

Definitely worth checking out!

Pros: Vegan pizza options, Cool atmosphere

Cons: Can be busy

Reel Pizza Cinerama, my new favorite place in Bar Harbor.

This place is cozy and has a 50's atmosphere, however, their vegan option pizza was amazing. If you choose to sit in the theater there are places to rest your foods while you watch the movie. this place is a must next time I'm in Bar Harbor.

Pros: Vegan options, Dine in the theater , Friendly service/ Wait staff during intermission

Cons: Foods are expensive, All ingredients are additional $$$

Independent movies and yummy pizza

Reel Pizza is one of my favorite theaters! They have a wide variety of vegetarian specialty pizzas that are named after classic films (easily made vegan with soy cheese). It is such a treat to order a pizza, and sit down to enjoy it while watching a movie in their cozy theaters. They have beer on tap, and they also have great nachos.

They show a mixture of independent and more standard films. If you visit during the summer, it isn't a bad idea to get your tickets and seats early. The theater is small, and some movies can sell out quickly.

Pros: Pizza + Beer + Movies!!!!

Great for a rainy day

My husband and I came to Bar Harbor for our honeymoon, but it rained almost everyday. This put a damper on our hiking plans, but we got a tip from locals about Reel Pizza Cinerama. Come an hour before opening, regardless of when you film starts. Grab a seat, then order your pizza. Good thing we listened because the place filled up fast, someone seemed to be having a small birthday party with their friends, and our pizza was done literally as the movie started. The place is pretty low-key, nothing fancy. There is a fun repurposed bingo light up board that lights up when your pizza is ready so it isn't too distracting.

There are lots of great options, some locals beers (some vegan some not) and lots of vegan options for the pizza. We got a cheese-less pizza but I happily sprinkled some nutritional yeast on top, which they provide. They have soy cheese and lots of interesting veggie toppings. I believe they do take out as well, so you don't HAVE to watch a movie for the pizza, which is also rad.

Pros: Great crust, Soy Cheese, Great rainy day activity

Cons: Super popular (hard to get tickets), Limited Film selection

great vegan pizza options

they offer daiya cheese on their pizzas and nachos, and they even have nutritional yeast out in the theater as a popcorn topping! several of their pies can be easily ordered vegan just by selecting daiya, or you can build your own. the pizza movie theater concept is awesome too.

Pros: vegan options are easy to order, vegan popcorn toppings available, comfortable atmosphere

Cons: still a lot of meat and diary, very few kid friendly movies

Year round vegan pizza!!

Pizza is literally my favorite food in the word and I was so happy to hear when Reel Pizza decided to start offering vegan cheese. Their pizzas are amazing. The ingredients are really fresh, there is an option of white or wheat crust, the topping options are really interesting (like avocado, tofu, summer squash). Sauces can also be swapped out. A favorite custom pizza of mine is bbq sauce with tofu, vegan cheese, and onion. Many of the featured pies are veg and delicious too. The nachos aren't the best. They are slightly stingy with the cheese on them to be honest. I do really enjoy all the topping options for the pizza, popcorn, and nachos though (including nutritional yeast)! They also show great movies and are locally owned so yay for that!

Pros: great crust, diverse toppings, friendly staff

Cons: expensive, nachos, too much meat
