Good vegan options in Bar Harbor - Edit
The menu has several clearly marked options about what is and can be made vegan. Options include a peanut tofu appetizer, salads, a mezze plate, falafel, & banh mih. Our waitress was well-informed about the vegan options and helpful in answering our questions, and the food was very fresh!

Wanted to give this a 4 star - Edit
Lompoc has an interesting menu but only a few vegan options. It feels like they could easily have two or three more by slightly changing their current selections - they have a marinated beef shish kebab that could easily be turned into an excellent grilled vegetable kabab.
Read moreHaving said that our meal was pretty good. My wife had the falafel plate without the tzatziki (not difficult to make or buy a vegan yogurt sauce). While the falafel were just ok, everything else on the plate - hummus, pickled vegetable etc was excellent. I had the tofu bahn mi that people have been raving about. The pickle vegetables, the peppers, and the bread were fantastic. The tofu - not so much. Just sliced, unmarinated, uncooked tofu slapped on the bread. Fry it, grill it, saute it do something to it please. Really wanted to like this place.
Pros: Great server, Cool patio
Cons: Learn how to prepare tofu

Bahn mi not for me - Edit
We went here after seeing that the Bahn mi was the best many had said they ever had on here. It is a large block of raw tofu with a few veggies on bread. Definitely not a meal I liked.

Best banh mi ever!! - Edit
This is a five-star review but Happy Cow only allows that for fully vegan restaurants. The menu clearly showed the vegan options. And they were spectacular. Our appetizer was wonderful also: tofu triangles with veggies and extraordinary peanut sauce. The tofu in the banh mi was perfect and I’ve never had such exquisite sauces.

Best vegan option in Bar Harbor - Edit
Judging by HappyCow reviews and some experience, Bar Harbor has only mediocre food options at best if you don't eat seafood. Lompoc Cafe, however stands out in the most excellent way. While there are not a lot of veggie/vegan options on the menu, the Tofu Banh Mi is probably the best I've had (optionally made with a vegan aioli)! On top of that, the server was super friendly and accommodating, and many if not all of the veggies were locally sourced. Very nice ambiance and a beautiful outdoor patio, to boot! If you've a plant based slant and are visiting Bar Harbor, Lompoc Cafe is a must!

Great food, not a ton of vegan options but just enough - Edit
The tofu bahn mi was actually the best bahn mi I’ve ever had. The cafe is cute and our waitress was really nice. Not a ton of vegan options but enough to have a very good meal and everything we had was really good! When we went for dinner the vegan options on the menu were - tofu appetizer, mezze dip appetizer, a salad, tofu bahn mi and a falafel plate. We saw an online menu that had more vegan options but maybe that was for a different time of day or they just changed their menu.

Banh Mi was Amazing - Edit
I absolutely loved the Banh Mi! Highly recommend getting it with the side salad (which is vegan already). The dressing that comes on it is delicious. There weren’t any vegan desserts but I found an ice cream place just a short walk away that had so many vegan options.

Great for group dining - Edit
We ate with a large group (nine) and were easily accommodated despite the fact the restaurant doesn't take reservations. We enjoyed the tofu triangles, vegan banh mi and falafel. Just ask that these are vegan.

Not too many vegan options but everything we ordered was great. We got the tofu triangles, bahmi, and spicy sesame, cilantro salad. Especially enjoyed the spicy salad. It was unique and refreshing.

Delicious vegan options!! - Edit
We really enjoyed our meal here! I ordered the crispy brussel sprouts as an appetizer and then the tofu bahn mi. They also have a vegan peanut noodle & tofu dish but sadly they were out of that when we went

Delicious worth eating here - Edit
We had low expectations reading the menu, but we split the falafel plate and the banh mi tofu sandwich for dinner (have to specify vegan on both!!). If I had to choose, the banh mi was amazing. But both were worth the price. We felt full and happy after a day of hiking. Definitely go here if you're visiting.I wish there were more options but we were satisfied.

Pretty good - Edit
I liked the amount of choices there are for vegans -- I definitely will be back to try them. My food was really good!
Read moreHowever, I got a drink that tasted very chemical-y, and it made me feel kind of sick to my stomach. Could've just been an off-day for my body, but I don't think I'd get a drink there again.
The atmosphere of this place was really nice. I hope to give the place another try the next time I'm in Bar Harbor.
Pros: Tasty food, Great atmosphere

Awesome tofu wrap - Edit
The peanut sauce wrap with tofu is delicious. Be aware that they fry vegan food and meat in the same fryer.

BEWARE! One fryolator for the meat, fries and tofu. - Edit
Had been eating at this cute place for awhile when I decided to ask if their fries were cooked in the same oil as meat, they confirmed that yes, they had only one fryer and that the fries were not vegan. What they failed to mention is that my "vegan" labeled tofu wrap had tofu in it that was fried in the fryer and not in a pan/pot. The tofu had a distinctive "fishy"ness to it so I stopped eating and left. Had to argue for my money to be returned, as the employee tried to get away with "You asked about the fries, not the tofu" routine (the meal had a "vegan" mark next to it, so no that did not fly with me.)
Read moreBTW the fries did not have a vegan mark next to them, which is why I had asked. I had always assumed the tofu was pan/pot fried, like most places do, especially since it was marked vegan.
Pros: Cute
Cons: Meal items mislabeled as vegan, Unhelpful staff

Get in, get out or stay and hangout - Edit
Lompoc Cafe has many vegan options to choose from. However, once I had the Peanut wrap, it was hard to choose anything else! The flavor was so good. It is hard to get good food fast in Bar Harbor, but you can get really good food here without much of a wait. We enjoyed hanging out in their shady, dog friendly patio area with lots of tables and a small bocce court. Really friendly staff. I highly recommend this cafe.

Great food and atmosphere - Edit
Lompoc Cafe is a bit out of the way in Bar Harbor... in a good way. It is on a side street, so it is a great escape from the traffic and hustle in summer on some of the main streets. They have outdoor seating in a delightful space. My sister and I both got the tofu bahn mi, which was quite good. I would definitely recommend eating here, and I plan to return myself in the future.

Fun atmosphere! - Edit
Fun cocktail list. Fair number of vegan options including falafel, bahn mi sandwich, peanut sauce wrap with tofu. We tried the second two and both were good. They also had a vegan soup and a couple salads could be modified and looked good. Friendly service. Open seasonally.

Great spot - Edit
I had a great meal here. The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely, and they had several options on the menu that are vegan or can be made vegan. I had the tofu banh mi and my partner had the falafel burger, and both were good but we preferred the banh mi. We also got the peanut sauce appetizer which came with pita and lots of veggies - it was light and refreshing. Great wine and cocktail menus too.
