Really tasty tofu scramble

I had the tofu scramble and was prepared for a bland plate, but I personally really enjoyed it! The dominant flavour was soy sauce and there were lots of veggies, so it felt more like a stir fry than a breakfast, but I very much enjoyed it!

Pros: Tasty tofu scramble, Lovely atmosphere

Really mid, unseasoned tofu scramble

The scramble was pretty bad. The only seasoning it seemed to have was salt. And there was a lot of it. I didn’t finish, which is pretty rare for me.

Pros: The service was great

Cons: Very limited option, It just wasn’t good

Filling breakfast after sunrise at Acadia

We got seated right away after heading down from Cadillac Mtn and I got the tofu scramble, toast and breakfast potatoes (they use a shared fryer). The tofu scramble was good but I added some hot sauce since it’s always a must 😄 the service was friendly and the wooden bench was heated which my dad and sister thought was a nice touch on the chilly morning!

Vegan options

Tasty tofu scramble - caution if you make your own scramble as they don't season the tofu like they do in the menu item tofu scramble. They do provide hot sauce and strawberry jam (verify if it's vegan), which helped add flavor to the create your own scramble and plain toast. Nothing fancy but nice to have options. Cute outdoor seating space and they were dog friendly.

Almost no vegan options

After reading the great reviews, we went there but only seemingly vegan option for dinner was impossible burger. I feel one option for dinner doesn’t really make a place vegan friendly!

If you plan to go there, call ahead and confirm they have something you like :)

Great Breakfast

Dined here today after some hiking. We were hungry. I had the burrito with tofu and vegan sausage. It was just what I needed! Great food and great staff. The service was great.

Fantastic Breakfast!

We had breakfast here before departing to explore Acadia National Park. My partner had delicious organic oatmeal with blueberries and bananas and brown sugar. Very large serving including the blue berries. Delicious bottomless coffee. I had the Vegan Tofu Scramble which included veggies and potatoes with vegan sausage on the side. It was served with toast and jam. I had bottomless iced tea. Very friendly and fast service, delicious food, great vibe. Highly recommend.

Pros: Excellent vegan options, fast and friendly service, great vibe

Great upscale food

Cafe this way serves breakfast and dinner. I’ve never eaten breakfast here, but I’ve enjoyed dinner here many times. They have a ‘plant’ section on their menu with options that are either vegetarian or easily modified to be vegetarian. A couple of these options are vegan. Their menu changes, which keeps things interesting. Their food is always fresh, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared. They have a great atmosphere for a nice evening out or a celebration meal. I’ve always enjoyed their food and have nothing really negative to say about them. They are quite busy, so you might want to make reservations.

Pros: Delicious! , Full bar, Nice atmosphere

Cons: Reservations needed

Small plates

Mainly small plate options so you’ll need 2 if you’re really hungry. Had the cauliflower hummus which was tasty and the Kung pao chickpeas which was delicious. The medium spicy option I had was really spicy so order mild if you’re not a spicy fan. They also had a tofu and mushroom dish and a choc/avocado vegan mousse.

Pros: Vegan options

Pretty good

We ate here a couple of times. The breakfasts were ok, but nothing to write home about. The waiting time was significant, so be sure to be there early.

Great food, service & atmosphere

A great find. Good variety as we have a meat-eater, a vegetarian and a vegan. Something for everyone. Fresh, original, great service.

Pros: Something good for all types of diets

Good Food and Service

The atmosphere was cute and comfortable. Almost every place in Bar Harbor is a little pricey...it's a tourist town. This cafe was no exception. I had the tiki masala with tofu. It was very good. The server was attentive and brought me my beers. I was happy and would go again.

Pros: food, service, location

Cons: expensive

Always a Vegan Option

My husband and I came to this place since it had vegan and vegetarian options. At the time I wasn't a strict vegan, and played around with the menu. They have a vegan breakfast, but have more to pick for vegetarians, even some veggie sausages (not sure if they are vegan). When I went I got the zucchini noodles, which looks like they changed it a little as I don't remember there being any polenta. I was really happy with my dinner but I have a few complaints

1) It is a fun setting and super casual. You get awesome food that isn't just a burger and fries. They really try and make the food a step up. But don't expect to sit for long. The staff is amazingly fast, and we didn't stay for long, though I am sure they wouldn't pressure you to leave if you sat around talking for awhile. It is just a clash of really fancy food and casual dining.

2) The price is a little expensive for the environment. We went twice, once for breakfast and once for dinner. We splurged since we were on our honeymoon, but I could imagine us not going again because of budgeting reasons.

Otherwise the place is pretty nice and the food is great. If anything if you are traveling with a non-vegan going here for breakfast is totally doable.

Pros: Insanely fast service for sit down, Great food, Can rely on at least ONE vegan option

Cons: A little pricey

excellent

what a great find. we ate there twice since there was two items on the menu for vegans. I loved the chickpea/cauliflower rice the best! I had the vegan noodle bowl and it was too salty but enjoyable. the sorbet was very good. the restaurant is actually called Café This Way.

Breakfast

Had a fantastic scrambled tofu with peppers, onions and potatoes that was very good. Atmosphere was pleasant and roomy. The waitstaff was attentive to our needs even though they were busy. Looking forward to trying the dinner menu some day!

Only one Vegan dish on the menu

They didn't seem like they could do anything else other than "The Vegan" (I asked), and it was OK (lots of soy sauce, though).

Pros: vegan option, in the main part of town, non-veg people can eat there

Cons: busy, only one vegan option, food is slow coming out

sinfully good food

If you are planning on going to dinner here you should definitely make a reservation. Large open room with rotating art on the walls. I had the butternut squash moraccan with quonia and chickpeas. My husband had the vegetarian shepherds pie. The cashew crusted tofu looked excellent too. I'm told they have great breakfast too. They're open in the morning and the evening, not for lunch.

Pros: excellent food, friendly service

Cons: noisy, expensive
